Tell me in how many "sports" an obviously gifted guy like Richard Jones just couldn't "afford" to be a pro.

That's a pretty harsh indictment of pro bodybuilding if you stop and think about it.

I will say one more thing.......there is NO money in this sport. People have to understand it's NOT like you're getting deals like guys in the NBA, NFL, MLB. They have the luxury of perfecting their respective sports because they have all the right resources and the income to do so. Stop and look at some of the "TOP" guys. There are only a handful that are making money from this sport. Yet, there are over 200 pro's today. Some you will never see because they just don't have the financial backing to be at this level. Darrem Charles has been a pro since I graduated highschool and he still gets shafted at certain shows. In my opinion he should be a top six guy at the O. Nearly, 14 years later he still there getting better. Nothing personal on Darrem, I just think he should be one of the highest paid guys. Six pro wins......what more do you want from a veteran?

So, I hoping to secure my future outside of bodybuilding by going to school and trying to break into the corporate business world. There is nothing to retire on. With the exception of Ronnie and Jay who have made massive amounts of cash and rightfully so. They're the best! In the NFL, the league minimum is $770,000! That is the least a player can get paid even for an inactive season. That's about $64K a month! A good pro, is lucky if he gets that in a year. Not to mention the women and figure pros and other pro bodybuilders with NO contracts at all. Shame, shame, shame.

Man, Rocco is one of the smartest guys on this board.

I guess he is one of the 4% here that is able to write in full sentences.

Anyways, i think it's really good that he thinks about his health and about his future after bb.

Obviously you can't read or have zero comprehension skills. He said not at the moment but in the future when he is financially stable enough to do it.

Richard, people have been speculating about what you are going to do since you don't really have a solid career path. Didn't you sort of fall out of the regular life activities (a regular job, going to school, etc) for a few years while trying to make it in the bodybuilding? You say "break into the corporate world"... Doing what? You were a LEO for sometime in LA is it? What happened with you getting out of there anyway? Sounds like you do like helping people and care about others' needs and well-being... So what is it that you are planning on doing? Back to law enforcement maybe? But wasn't it said somewhere in the BB world that they had dumped you out of there due to some drug smuggling incident? What skills and credentials do you actually have to be in the biz world??? If you meant after you complete your MBA, then sounds like you have long ways to go. What are you going to do in the meantime? Does not sound like you are getting a good deal with the Weider people especially now after deciding to not compete anymore...
