It already started a while ago at some McDonalds.

President Trump is looking at raising the minimum wage.  He believes one cannot live on 7.50 an hour.

I know he said it was too high during the debates, but he said he's looking at what bernie sanders has been saying.  Reversed his position this week.Libs are excited to have one of their own infiltrating the republican party.  no matter who wins in 2016, the democrats win.

it's not the conservative party, after all, your nominee said that ;)

Also, coach, what do you think of Trump reversing his position on cutting tax rates for those making over 250k?   Total democrat move, to promise to cut it in debates, and then tell us this week, once he has nomination, that the wealthy will have to pay more.

Are you voting for trump?

I predicted this stuff years ago.  5 years from now, ALL fast food places will have kiosks and burger flippers will be replaced by machines/automation.

Another prediction I have is that pharmacists will become obsolete.  You'll go to the pharmacy and there will be biometric drug kiosks.  The machine reads your hand print/eyeball and distributes the drugs accordingly.

He's a 1000x better than Killery but since you insist on trolling me while getting your ass handed to you at the same time, no, I'm still not voting for him. Here's a question for you. Since you're voting left tell why you think it's ok for a "transgender" to pick and choose what bathroom it can go into in our public school systems. If you have a penis you're a male if you don't you're a female. Simple isn't it.

Contrary to popular opinion: Becoming a pharmacist requires more than being able to count by five.  :)

I'm in my walmart 2 or 3 times a week and have never seen that happen at self checkout.  Old and dumb people use smart phones all day long, this won't be some big problem like you're making it out to be.

There's a CVS with self-checkout across the street from my apartment building and people will wait 10 minutes in a cashier's line to avoid using the the self-checkout lanes. I was in there this evening trying to figure out what made them suck so hard.

I noticed one of the McDonald's kiosks here in new york a few weeks ago. They run pretty smoothly.

I got into a huge argument with a friend today about this -

I'm 10000% against anybody with a penis being in the same bathroom as females in my family.  Simple as that.  This opens up the door for many "misunderstandings".

I'm fine with places, if they choose, putting in a 3rd bathroom and calling it whatever they want.  But no, if you have a penis, I do not want you in the same bathroom as a female.   Period.

DONALD TRUMP supports the bathroom issue, oddly.  He and obama.  But you knew that, right?   ;)   You and I are on the same side on this issue, Coach.  And Trump/Obama are on the same side too!

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) took to the United States House floor on Thursday afternoon to express criticism of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s comments about the North Carolina bathroom law that prohibits transgenders from using public restrooms, which Trump opposes.

On Thursday morning, Trump was asked on NBC’s Today Show about the North Carolina legislation and said transgenders should “use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate,” adding that he opposes North Carolina’s law.

“North Carolina did something that was very strong and they’re paying a big price. And there’s a lot of problems,” Trump stated.

Wendy’s fast food restaurant chain says it will begin offering self-serve kiosks at its 6,000-plus locations across America, making them available to costumers by the end of 2016.

The fast food giant’s decision to move toward automation comes just as “Fight for $15”–a progressive protest movement, pushing minimum wage hikes–is applying pressure on state governments to raise wages for low-skilled fast food workers.

Last August, Wendy’s CFO Todd Penegor told investors that mandated wage hikes will cause his company to pursue other innovative avenues that could lead to fewer jobs for low-skill workers.

“We continue to look at initiatives and how we work to offset any impacts of future wage inflation through technology initiatives, whether that’s customer self-order kiosks, whether that’s automating more in the back of the house in the restaurant,” Penegor said, adding that “you’ll see a lot more coming on that front later this year from us.”

On the same conference call, Wendy’s CEO Emil Brolick said that individual Wendy’s franchises “will likely look at the opportunity to reduce overall staff, look at the opportunity to certainly reduce hours and any other cost reduction opportunities, not just price.”

Indeed, Wendy’s officials told Investor’s Business Daily that it would be up to individual franchisees to decide whether they will offer the self-serve kiosks.

Penegor says several franchises are being squeezed by wage inflation. California’s 250-plus franchise-owned Wendy’s are struggling with the state’s $10 minimum wage, which will soon spike to $15. Franchise-operated Wendy’s restaurants in New York–where minimum wage is $15–can’t compensate for that state’s crushing wage increase.

“You know there are some people out there who naively say that these wages can simply be passed along in terms of price increases,” Brolick said last August. “I don’t think that the average franchisee believes that.”

The whole world is being separated into the competent and the incompetent.

This has nothing to do with the minimum wage or technology innovation, it's all been feasible for many many years.  It is a preface to the culling.

My sister and her husband are both retail pharmacists.  The computers they use today do everything for them: patient history, warn of drug interactions, contraindications, etc.  The are needed because of their state licenses.  All they really do is count pills, they admit that.

I'm curious to hear more. Where can I subscribe to your newsletter?

Honestly, the idea of what's considered a valuable skills is just changing. I just posted in "The Big Bang Theory" thread, so it's fresh in my mind, but the whole idea of being nerdy is different than it once was. For some it is now desirable and sexy. I was at brunch with wifey earlier and our group was discussing how easy it will be to rebuild the world after the zombie apocalypse. On one hand, the knowledge has already been gathered, but on the other, modern industry and technology is the result of the culmination of such specialized skills. No one has has mastery of entire systems these days. People develop mastery of parts of systems. To get the world back running to normal after a zombie apocalypse in 1950, or even 1980, would be a completely different thing than it will be when it takes place next year.

Point being?  What was once considered mundane and essential will just be considered superfluous and disposable when the technology is right. I literally don't know 1 phone number besides my own right now. When I was a kid, I had a good 20-30 phone numbers memorized.

Most of the Wendy's outlets in my city have closed down. Regardless of the minimum wage increase, of which I don't approve, they need to cut back on costs.
