What kind of Brain damage would it be to.....
« on: April 06, 2006, 06:37:54 PM »
How bad would it be feel being a huge pro and one day dwindle down to a normal 200ish pounds and look like an average guy again?  The guys I would be referring to are Flex, Kevin, Tom etc.  Obviously Shawn never put himself to the limits that everyone else did so he never got the dramatic weight loss that all these other guys get.

Will anyone on here admit to doing huge amounts of gear and coming off to look normal again?

The average guy that trains is probably 180 pounds, but at questionable bodyfat.

Tom would say..."yeah bro, like, for real bro, like, I was like, 230 before I touched gear bro, I mean I ran 2000mgs/wk of test, but that is in your body naturally so it don't count, everyone knows that test don't count, just ask Ronnie!..."   ::) ::) ::)

Pete Grymkowski was 265 pounds when he competed.  He is now 185.  If you ever saw Pete when he was big he was HUGE.

I'll be honest - it feels pretty damn crappy.
I was about 185 pounds when I started bb naturally. I got to around 250 naturally over about 6-7 years. My bf percentage did range considerably during that time as I was learning the ropes and lazy at times. Anything between about 15 to 25%.
I did a few cycles at about the 7-8 year mark and then had a big gap (both from gear and training) over the next 4 years.
After losing alot of size (I went from around 290 pounds down to about 250 again) I then changed my mindset because i was feeling a bit low having lost all that muscle and strength. I changed my focus to actually getting as cut as possible and stopped caring about the strength and muscle.
Well that worked for a while - I dieted the shit out of myself and managed to get to 240ish at about 11% bf. Ok - 11% is fairly average but you should understand I am a naturally kind of chubby guy round the middle so that was a reasonable bf% for me.
But I have found that no matter how hard I try (and by this I mean I basically starved myself at times for periods of up to 2 weeks) I can't get my weight below that 240 mark and given my natural weight is around 185 (I'm 6'4 and began training when I was almost 20) you understand that there are certain levels where your body just seems to 'shutdown' as it were.
At present I am resting up after a fairly major operation and havn't trained in a long time (just one arm as of last few weeks) and my weight is remaining fairly static however I must admit I am eating too much and my waist has gone up accordingly.
Once I'm fit again I am going to go really hard out but very carefully and plot and map everything as I go. I suspect that I'll take gear again at some stage (I used very very moderate dosages as I'm the type of person that reasons that by taking the smallest amount of something and getting the best possible gains from it you are maximising both your own potential and that of the gear. So far it would seem that when I have taken gear it has produced excellent results for me personally with virtually no obvious sides apart from slightly elevated blood pressure and greasier skin).
Having said that - I wouldn't go on again until a/I have naturally lost alot of body fat,
b/my training is right back up there (which will take me probably 14 months of hard graft
and c/I have my diet and all other lifestyle disciplines completely sorted out. Particularly as I get older (I'm 34 now) you notice your body becomes alot less forgiving for rookie mistakes.

I guess some ex bodybuilders become big fat slobs. And some become skinny twigs. Keith, did Pete get rich owning Golds? Did he own it when all the franchising started?

Well I do live in Vegas.  I should go down there and see how he's doing for the few that still like him.

He bought it when there was one and sold it when there 650+.  He had clothing in one location when he bought it.  When he sold it Gold's Gym wear was in more that 13,000 retail outlets worldwide.  Lucious did you know who Pete is. Here is a few when he competed.  He was 265 when he competed.
