I’m 65, been lifting from age 20, still lifting, but it’s hard:

Age 20-30- just a baby lifter, trying to learn from the older guys. Did a cycle of d-ball, from Ciba, gained 20 pounds. Also got some bitch tits, which luckily only I can see. Did deca and test, got another 20 pounds.

Age 30-40- completed in powerlifting during this time. Was average. 580 squat-420 bench-580 deadlift. 220, drug free. Did all the Venice beach contests, on the beach, was fun.

40-50- hit my prime- squat-405 for 20, 120 dumbbell presses, stronger than shit. Drug free.

50-60- still a force to be reckoned with. Lifted with younger friends, 315 for 10 bench, 315 got bent over rows, etc

Now at age 65- it’s tough. Always thought I would be able to bench 315 FOREVER. nope. I stick with 225, for sets of 6, but I lift very fast. 60- 75 second at the most. Knees are totally shot, so no leg work. Lower back is shot, so no heavy rows. Because I go so fast, all my old working sets are down in weight.

I finish my workout in 40–45 minutes. Totally drenched in sweat. I leave feeling alive and happy.

I am on 75 mgs of test from my doctor, which gets to 500-600 on my tests. All my blood work is perfect.

In one way I’m sad I can’t lift like I used to. But on the other hand, I want to live, to see my grandkids, to get as much money from my pension as I can. A lot of guys my age or younger are croaking. I don’t want to croak. 😎

How can you even survive on less than 500 mg/week? You know, just TRT dose.

Get a girlfriend???  When I walk thru the parking lot of the gym to the front door, sometimes the older women’s yoga class Is exiting the gym on there way home. The women my age will check me out as our paths, and then look away or down at the ground. Giving me the signal: no way old man, don’t even try😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

I’m stuck with the wife.

I had a job where I sat in a control room and monitored equipment. So I was able to eat like 4  to 5 times on a 10 hour shift. So if someone needed me, they knew to either look for me at the microwave, or the shithouse. Because I had to get in my 300-350 grams of protein daily.

WHAT A CROCK OF POOP THE WEIDER THEORY WAS!!! i wasted a lot of money on food back then.
Now I just eat normal, and my basic strength has not changed because of lower protein.

Huh? Why do women your own age do that? I'd think at 65, you'd be getting interest from women ages 40-80 or thereabouts.

PS - aging sucks. I have a date next week. I'm hoping my dick still moves, and I'm 40. But our brains are expectation machines. Our minds drive our bodies, and our bodies drive our minds.

Good to see you back brother....I`m 67 and I`ve found you just have to adjust your training a lot but you can still train as hard as YOU can.

No more huge squats but who cares you`ve been there and done that......train to get lean, strong for your age,  and for health....you`ll have ninety nine percent of the men on the planet beat.

Good luck.

That's how it goes. Wear and tear. You only have one joint, one of each tendon and muscle. Can't replace or do a tune-up. That and the inevitable curse of cell degeneration from mitosis.

But don't worry about it we're all in the same boat we're all dead and forgotten pretty soon  :D

Just curious - what's your routine like these days? What was it like previously (in other words, what's changed if it has)?
