I’m 65, been lifting from age 20, still lifting, but it’s hard:
Age 20-30- just a baby lifter, trying to learn from the older guys. Did a cycle of d-ball, from Ciba, gained 20 pounds. Also got some bitch tits, which luckily only I can see. Did deca and test, got another 20 pounds.
Age 30-40- completed in powerlifting during this time. Was average. 580 squat-420 bench-580 deadlift. 220, drug free. Did all the Venice beach contests, on the beach, was fun.
40-50- hit my prime- squat-405 for 20, 120 dumbbell presses, stronger than shit. Drug free.
50-60- still a force to be reckoned with. Lifted with younger friends, 315 for 10 bench, 315 got bent over rows, etc
Now at age 65- it’s tough. Always thought I would be able to bench 315 FOREVER. nope. I stick with 225, for sets of 6, but I lift very fast. 60- 75 second at the most. Knees are totally shot, so no leg work. Lower back is shot, so no heavy rows. Because I go so fast, all my old working sets are down in weight.
I finish my workout in 40–45 minutes. Totally drenched in sweat. I leave feeling alive and happy.
I am on 75 mgs of test from my doctor, which gets to 500-600 on my tests. All my blood work is perfect.
In one way I’m sad I can’t lift like I used to. But on the other hand, I want to live, to see my grandkids, to get as much money from my pension as I can. A lot of guys my age or younger are croaking. I don’t want to croak. 😎
