What it is, is that we are so used to seeing bloated carcasses of muscle, that one comes along and doesn't look like the status quo, we are "amazed", but then, when you start looking at the dude, and breaking him down, it doesn't add up.
For instance, of bbers most talked about as symmetrical and his flow, Flex Wheeler, had a weak front and rear lat spread, especially at lighter weights.

I've not attended a bodybuilding competition since I was 16 years old when I went to one with a friend of my parents who was a bodybuilder and friend of one of the contestants. This was a very long time ago. Back then the audience was made up mostly of friends and family of the bodybuilders who were competing. Has this changed? Is the bulk of the audience now just a bunch of schmoes? I doubt it.99% of getbiggers

I know a guy who competed in an area qualifier flowed the text book depleting and carbing and water manipulation , looked flat and smooth.
Managed to qualify for the Britain and ate anything and everything the day before his show.

People look great a week out and then go through the same rigmarole in the last week and fuck it up, myself included.

I've heard anecdotes like these before, and I think a lot of it has to do with sodium and the mental boost you get from eating a burger or whatever.
On a side note, when you study the last-week protocols from 'gurus', you will notice that they all have different visions about variables like carbs, water, potassium & sodium, but there seems to be a growing trend in skipping the depletion period almost completely (Chad Nichols, Noel Fuller, Dennis James and others)

Surely you've noticed that bodybuilding competitors very often wear posing suits that reveal the most skin and muscle.
Not every federation has the same dress policy, but the IFBB is known for its strict guidelines.
Here's the IFBB dress code for men's posing suits. You'll notice it doesn't address the back of the suit. Earlier dress codes did, I believe. There are no rules shown for posing attire in the finals. 1 cm = 0.39 inches.
Rule 24 - Prejudging: Posing attire for all rounds
1. Male competitors will wear posing trunks of a solid, non-distracting colour which are clean and decent. Metallic materials, such as gold or silver lame, may not be used to make up the trunks. The use of padding anywhere in the trunks is prohibited. The front area must be covered and the side of the trunks should be 1 cm in width at minimum.
Because it's impossible to define by limits how the rear part should look like. Needles to say that they won't allow men to hit the stage with only a feather in their ass...

One would have to be in order to get on a stage in front of thousands or maybe millions of people wearing close to nothing at all. Even if you only consider the live audience, it's still a lot of people to get nearly naked for.
Note: this is not a judgment or criticism in at all. From my perspective, societies' hang-ups when it comes to nudity is just plain stupid. Furthermore, wouldn't most people rather see someone who is fit and naked then someone who has let their body go? How many people really find those old nudist camp videos interesting in a sexual way?

According to the NPC/IFBB height/weight requirements .... If Peter Molnar's height was 5'7" up to and including 5'8" his bodywt could not exceed 177 pounds.
If his bodywt was more than 177 ... he would NOT be qualified to enter....
BUT ....
If he actually weighed a couple of pounds more than the above wt limit of 177 pounds .... it is possible that the NPC could allow him an hour or so to bring his bodywt down to the qualifying wt.
But that 'allowance' has yet too be mentioned in any official NPC documentation that I have seen.
I personally think that more than a few of the first years' Classic Physique contenders (and they could possibly number into the 1,000's in 2016) will fail to realize this simple fact and thereby fail to qualify for a contest that they planned to win.
NOTE: If Peter's actual height was over 5'8" up to and including 5'9" his bodywt would have to be185 pounds or less in order to qualify for the Men's Classic Physique event.
A drop of 18 pounds would definitely not bring him into the contest in the condition as shown in the above photos even though those photos appear to be the epitome of a Classic Physique contender. (My opinion only.)

Yes, structure is an issue for me at 6'3''. Long upper legs, small joints, lanky looking arms that only look acceptable pumped. Triceps are a strong point but they are very high insertion, so there is a big empty area above my elbow that just makes my arm look tinier. Biceps are sort of in no mans land insertion wise, not short enough that I can develop a peak easily, but not wide enough to look nice and full. Forearms are the worst of all. No matter what i do the brachioradialis will not respond acceptably.
Time to up the dose!
Short, average or tall.. we all have our structural shortcomings. Other than focusing on the basic movements, eating a ton of food, sleeping like a baby and maybe a decent cycle, there's not much you can do.

Seems as if darker is better. If this is true, then I understand it. Black folks have a definite advantage in well lit competitions by nature of their skin tone. That being said, even dark skinned folks sometimes use a tanning product to even out their skin tone.

Molnar does a good job at hiding the fact that he isn't very tall. Looks great in pics, but it just doesn't translate that well on stage standing in a lineup.

I know you’re making a joke here but believe it or not, when I was a little boy, about the time I started kindergarten, I saw a set of “junior barbells” in a store. I asked my mom to buy them for me. She told me I didn’t want them, and of course did not buy them. The truth was I did want them because I wanted to be a bodybuilder when I grew up. This was the beginning of my lifelong nightmare with bodybuilding.

A cosmetic athlete who couldn't roll with a 140lbs jui jitsu guy and couldn't box a light weight. I know nothing about his training, but I remember when I started I believed the Gironda thing so avoided squats for the longest time. It was only when I started doing free squats that my neck 'caught up' with the rest of me with no direct work - so I wonder if Mr Molnar also avoids squatting - anyone know?
