Title: Trey Brewer's Diet
Post by: columbusdude82 on February 23, 2007, 01:56:55 PM
I got a link to Trey's website, which is new and pretty well designed. www.treybrewer.com (http://www.treybrewer.com)

His diet particularly caught my eye, the dude eats like a pig!! (And that's a good thing:)) Here it is:

My Motto:
You canąt over train! You can only under eat

MEAL 1)  20-25 egg whites 2 yolks.
4 cups of organic oatmeal with cinnamon
Handful of almonds

MEAL 2) Protein shakes (60 grams)
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

MEAL 3) 16oz of skinless boneless chicken breast(salt free seasoning)
16oz of sweet potato with cinnamon
1 full bag of lettuce and veggies

MEAL 4) 1 large t-bone steak with 12oz potato and mixed veggies

MEAL 5) Protein shakes (60 grams)
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

MEAL 6) 16oz ground turkey breast
4 cups of brown rice(before cooking)

MEAL 7) Protein shake (60 grams)
 Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

Waxy Maze is a very HI-GI post workout drink mix....   Unless he is lifting 3 x day , then WTF is he having this as a MRP?

That would be like having 2 cups of Dextrose and whey for a mid morning snack lol

I believe waxy maize has been shown to have a GI of about 41-44.
So, it is actually a fairly low GI drink mix.

Troponin, I was hoping you would show up!

What do you make of this diet? Do bbers actually eat like this, or just post stuff like this on their websites to impress people? Would a natural guy like me have anything to gain by trying to emulate such a diet (on a proportionately smaller scale)?

PS: Very excited about the DVD, can't wait to get it!!!

I couldn't eat that much.  But, he's much bigger than me.
That diet is very similar to what I eat in terms of what foods are eaten.  But, my amounts are lower.
My "basic meal" is 6oz of cooked chicken or steak, and 2 cups of white rice.

Trey is very impressive though.  He's about the only 21 year old I wouldn't recommend taking a year off to.  The level of dedication it seems he has in his daily life toward bodybuilding is very high.  I hope he doesn't get frustrated and burned out by staying so dedicated without a show on the horizon.

He could legitimately turn pro this year, and compete size wise with most of the pros.

As frustrating as it is, some people are just working with more ammo.  Most of my clients do better that I do in competition, you have to work with what you have.

Cool.
It's a good product.  Obviously, nothing is a magic bullet.  But, WM is something that actually has some science behind it, and should show some benefits.
The price is pretty good compared to some specialty products as well.

here is what it really is, 12 egg whites and 2 cups of oatmeal and 10-12 oz. of meat and 2 cups of rice which is still a lot, there is absolutely no need to eat more than that i don't care if you're doing a hundred sets per workout which we know damn well he's not.

Fair enough... I wish they'd post the drug regimen that goes with that diet...

PS: notice the lack of use of all the "fancy" useless supplements. they aren't mentioned in that diet. but in a cpl months, all the mags will have ads featuring trey, saying "Trey Brewer added 56 lbs of lean mass in 4 weeks using Crapadrol"...

You are correct.  Plus it is tasteless food.  Unless you are a robot there is no way you could eat what he claims to everyday.  Even 12 egg whites is a lot to get down with that much oatmeal...

Took a hiatus while filming the DVD....
I have a good hour of nutrition as a seperate "bonus" DVD right now.  There is almost an hour of me talking about whatever comes to my mind about nutrition, and about 20min of me preparing my meals for the day, and talking about my diet.

I'm getting two new supplements out soon as well.  So, the book will become a priority again soon.

i doubt it's a typo, these guys want you to believe that they're absolute muscle building calorie burning superhumans when the reality is that they don't burn many more calories than the average person who goes for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner.

Well that leaves the second possibility, that someone lied on his behalf... The site is good, but very impersonal. It's like that Daniel or whatever guy (his trainer) is in charge of everything, he does all the talking on trey's behalf etc...
Title: Re: Trey Brewer's Diet

Ok well it is very fast absorbing? Correct?    If so what is the purpose of taking it as an MRP?

It has a very respectable ability to be stored as glycogen.  It's very low osmolality creates an osmolalic pull that helps "drag" other nutrients (aminos ingested with the wm) through the gut to be taken up into the blood stream faster.
The low osmolality causes a water pulling effect as well, leading to an increase in intracellular fluid levels.  A well hydrated muscle is a more anabolic muscle, and has also shown in studies to be less likely to be catabolized as fuel.

The high molecular weight and low osmolality also greatly increases gastric emptying, so you don't feel "full" very long, which I would imagine, is very beneficial when eating 7 times a day with such large quantities of food.
Title: Re: Trey Brewer's Diet

"osmolality"... now there's a word that brilliant nutritionist and dietician Derek Anthony couldn't spell to save his life...

For comparison (not that one can really compare), I am posting my own typical diet on a weekday (I am less strict on weekends):

Meal 1: 10 egg whites, two whole eggs, scrambled
piece of whole grain toast with natural peanut butter
1 packet plain oatmeal, with raisins added
           half a grapefruit

(I work out a couple hours later)

Meal 2: post-workout shake (4 scoops protein powder + creatine and glutamine)
           two bananas

Meal 3: sirloin, broccoli, piece of fruit (apple or orange usually)

Snack: Almonds, walnuts, dried dates

Meal 4: 2 cans of tuna, mashed with lemon juice

Meal 5: 3 chicken breasts, grilled or broiled

Meal 6: night time protein shake (3 scoops)

Note: I don't weigh or measure the meat because it's too much work...

Meal 5: 3 chicken breasts, grilled or broiled

Meal 6: night time protein shake (3 scoops)

Note: I don't weigh or measure the meat because it's too much work...

I got a link to Trey's website, which is new and pretty well designed. www.treybrewer.com (http://www.treybrewer.com)

His diet particularly caught my eye, the dude eats like a pig!! (And that's a good thing:)) Here it is:

My Motto:
You canąt over train! You can only under eat

MEAL 1)  20-25 egg whites 2 yolks.
4 cups of organic oatmeal with cinnamon
Handful of almonds

MEAL 2) Protein shakes (60 grams)
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

MEAL 3) 16oz of skinless boneless chicken breast(salt free seasoning)
16oz of sweet potato with cinnamon
1 full bag of lettuce and veggies

MEAL 4) 1 large t-bone steak with 12oz potato and mixed veggies

MEAL 5) Protein shakes (60 grams)
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

MEAL 6) 16oz ground turkey breast
4 cups of brown rice(before cooking)

MEAL 7) Protein shake (60 grams)
 Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder
Please tell me this is his OFFSEASON 'bulk' diet.

That's an awful lot of carbs. This is an easy way to get FAT!

That is, of course you throw in plenty of T3, Cytomel, Clen and a splash of GH and slin.

I eat lots of that stuff on the weekends, and on some weekdays... Cheeseburgers, cheesecake, milkshakes, ice cream...

Every sunday morning I love going out for breakfast. I get a big meat lover's omlette (bacon sausage ham chicken) with joe fries, pancakes and french toast...

That's just a sample diet, it's what I eat like when I'm at home... When I go out it's a whole different matter. Living the college kid life, eating out, drinking, partying etc:)

SO what your saying is that WM makes for a good MRP as well as a Excellent PWO shake??
If this is true then I have NEVER heard of anything that could double as both!

looks good. "pointless," absolutely not. That's a pretty good base diet. I would make sure you have 2-3 days a week where you eat ALOT more carbs, especially with your last 3 meals. Or you could have 1 meal from McDonalds or eat a whole pizza, or something of that nature to break up the monotony. It will also help you keep growing.

What a cool motto.  I totally believe that's what trey brewer eats everyday, along with some junk.

he's a fulltime bodybuilder trying to bulk and he weighs 300 pounds.  I ate about 2/3 that much in my year of gluttony when I went from 160 to 220.  I went to a breakfast buffet every day after the gym, and spent $10 at taco bell every night.  It can be done.

You guys are gonna blast me for this but.....

That can be done consistently.  You train yourself to eat that much.  On my precontest diet as my bodyfat lowers and my hunger raises, i usually eat a bag of uncle bens rice (orange bag, the one that takes 90 seconds to cook, roughly 80g carbs) for my post workout meal and also a meal in the morning....a bag is 2 cups.  And im STILL hungry when i finnish it.  Clean foods dont have a ton of calories and leave you hungry.  When i reach 6 weeks out, 1lb of meat and 3 cups of rice for me would probably be a joke IF i could allow that (which i cant that close to a show).  He is almost 80lbs heavier than me.  I dont doubt it for a single second.

Go to the grocery store and look for the bags i am talking about.  Little orange bag with different flavors (but you can also get JUST brown rice).  It cooks in 90 seconds in microwave just tear open the bag.....once you see what i mean, you will have a COMPLETELY different opinion on this...they are NOT that big.

By the way....when im not dieting and we order chinese, i put away the ENTIRE quart of white rice mixed with some beef fried rice and some soy....plus a pint of beef n broccoli and a quart of sweet and sour chicken (no sauce, hate the sauce).  Cmon guys....big eaters exist.....im KNOWN for my ability to put away food by anyone who knows me....id take on Trey in a buffet ANY DAY OF THE WEEK

Order a plate lunch from some of the smaller restaurants in Hawaii and they easily give 2+ cups of cooked rice.  For a local to eat 8 cups a rice day is not that big of a deal.
8 cups of rice not a big deal, bro i think we need to sit you down and talk about portion control, in your recent pics, your fingers looked like cups of rice.

If you ate that much rice you spend your time between sets puking or as Steve Michalik said "releasing growth hormone"  ;D Brewer would be much fatter if he actually ate that no way he trains THAT hard to process that food.

Don't be so harsh on "him"... this sad excuse for a human being is a total failure in life and is reduced to living vicariously through "his" brother ::)

Allow "him" at least the fleeting joy of lying on a message board!

SF you might have the belly advantage...but i would eat you under the table then finnish your plate too!   I will eat anything.....long as shes cute  ;D

He said 4 cups of rice uncooked, not 8.

http://www.unclebens.com/rice/ready-whole-grain-rice-whole-grain-brown.aspx

Those lil bags are 2 cups.  When you see it in the store you will pick it up, remember this thread...laugh, and remember that i was right.  It is NOT that much.  If anything, the egg whites and oatmeal is the toughest meal.  I can do 2 cups of oatmeal when im dieting if hungry...but 4 is pushin it.  The egg whites i can probably do....they are like eating nothing...you can just force those down pretty much no problem.

Now if he said like 2lbs of meat at a meal id call bullsht haha

I got a link to Trey's website, which is new and pretty well designed. www.treybrewer.com (http://www.treybrewer.com)

His diet particularly caught my eye, the dude eats like a pig!! (And that's a good thing:)) Here it is:

My Motto:
You canąt over train! You can only under eat

MEAL 1)  20-25 egg whites 2 yolks.  925 cal
4 cups of organic oatmeal with cinnamon  934 cal
Handful of almonds                              168 cal

MEAL 2) Protein shakes (60 grams)      360 cal
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder             300 cal

MEAL 3) 16oz of skinless boneless chicken breast(salt free seasoning) 450 cal
16oz of sweet potato with cinnamon   500 cal
1 full bag of lettuce and veggies

MEAL 4) 1 large t-bone steak with 12oz potato and mixed veggies  1200 cal

MEAL 5) Protein shakes (60 grams)                                                 360 cal
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder                                                   300 cal

MEAL 6) 16oz ground turkey breast                                              600 cal
4 cups of brown rice(before cooking)                                               1200 cal

MEAL 7) Protein shake (60 grams)                                                      360 cal
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder                                                      300 cal

I had to do the math. Roughly, thats about 8000 cals a day + whatever protein bars or junk food he throws in.

What are you smoking?  Do you know how to diet and proper macro totals?  See below

MEAL 1)  20-25 egg whites 2 yolks.  925 cal 6g protein per white, no carbs, 2 yolks = 9g fat.  6x25=150x4(calories per gram protein) = 681 calories
4 cups of organic oatmeal with cinnamon  934 cal Again, 52g carbs per cup x 4 = 208 x4(calories per gram) = 832.  Maybe few g of fat = another 30 calories.  850 caloreis
Handful of almonds                              168 cal

MEAL 2) Protein shakes (60 grams)      360 cal 240cal bud, im sure he drinks pure whey
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder             300 cal

MEAL 3) 16oz of skinless boneless chicken breast(salt free seasoning) 450 cal
16oz of sweet potato with cinnamon   500 cal  384cals there you go exagerating again
1 full bag of lettuce and veggies

MEAL 4) 1 large t-bone steak with 12oz potato and mixed veggies  1200 cal

MEAL 5) Protein shakes (60 grams)                                                 360 cal overshot again as stated above
Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder                                                   300 cal

MEAL 6) 16oz ground turkey breast                                              600 cal 400cal tops
4 cups of brown rice(before cooking)                                               1200 cal  850 stud

MEAL 7) Protein shake (60 grams)                                                      360 cal 3rd time
 Waxx Maze Carbo Hydrate Powder

Looks to me more like 7k calories....VERY reasonable for a guy 300lbs!

For the oatmeal it has trace fat but more trace protein ~5g a cup bringing the total up.
I actually underestimated the protein shake...he uses Syntha-6 at 200 per 20g of protein so thats 600 cals check bb.com.

You're right about the turkey being about 120 cals per 4 grams but that is only if it is 99% fat free.

A 4 oz. sweet potato is about 136 cals I checked so I am about right if not a bit under.

4 cups uncookedb rice makes 8 cups cooked so 1600 cals...I win   ;D

to keep a weight of 300lbs you eat around 3500 kcals . HE IS NOT EATING 7-8000 IDIOTS.

You have to count in metabolism and how hard someone works out..
I can drop weight at 3500kcal and only weight 160.... No cardio

So you are doing 200 sets of squats supersetted with 200 sets of deadlifts a day or something?

You are an idiot.

nope, 60 min intense Weightlifting..
Im serious, I dont want to have it like this and I would pay to slow it down lol, But i think it has..

So Fast metabolism, 300pounds and trains like a maniac EASILY 8000-10,000kcal.

No. Peoples BMR does not vary that much. At your bodyweight and height and bf % You need 2200-2400 kcals to maintain your weight.

I know this, and I know how to count calories..
Let me know if you understand swedish so I could show you the "diet" I was on..  :)

Arnold was training 4-5 hrs a day and I bet he never ate over 5-6000 cals a day to grow and was in shape year round.
