This thread is long overdue, he is much more helpful than the so called experts on here who are just pushing their wares and hardly ever find the time to help a fellow iron warrior in a time of crisis. So you can ask one of the "experts" a question if you want a standard cookie cutter response, but if you want the truth, that is if you can handle the truth, ask Candizzle!

i recently was doing lunges and i heard a crack pop, my left knee twisted out, and my leg was like jello and i fell...now it is bruised heavily and swollen... do u have any nutritional tips for me for recovery and healing? im thinking lots of fatty acids and high protein??

Candizzle, I can't deadlift at my gym(planet fitness ::)), so I have to go to another gym once in a while to deadlift. How often do I need to DL and can you give me a routine, maybe something that I only need to do every other week or something.

well, it wasnt to hard to go from obese to athletic.
a normal diet for me before i started that first fat loss diet, was something like this
breakfast = 8 scrambled eggs and some bacon with hash browns and cheddar cheeese sprinkl;ed al over the whole plate. a glass of orange juice as well.
lunch = a super sized value meal with a large soda of some kind and maybe and extra order of fries and one extra hamburger from the dolar menue
mid afternoon snakc = bowl of ice cream and beef jerkey
dinner = large pepperonie pizza and bread sticks
late night snakc = bag of doritos !

so basically what i did was cut most of my carbohydrates, started doing AM cardio on an elleptical...and in about 5 months i had a regular shaped mid section and girls finally started to pay atention to me :D

i think ephedrine is good for short bursts. not much will be "better" as far as legal products go.
one thing that will help you tremendously is high dose fish oil several times throughout the day. try taking maybe 5 caps with every meal.
that should definitely make a difference.

while alex is a major playor and has a bigger name than benz, i feel benz is vastly underrated in his ownage skills. i would go with benz, that is unless you also need financial backing. then id go with alex.

well, funny thing. it wasnt supposed to be called manteca. it was a misprint on the first train tickets. but the cheap bastards didnt want to fix the train tickets, so they left it as "manteca".

cheat meals = depends on your metabolism. if you are a dexter jackson type, go aahead and eat what you like as long as your getting enough complex carbs, quality animal protein, and omega-3's. other wise, you should eat as clean as you need to to stay lean.
hgih protein and high intake of omega-3 and high gla omega-6 fatty acids would help. also, lots of vegetables. you should probably visit a chiropractor or some sort of medical consultant however.

in my opinion, deadlifts are just like squats. alot of guys think they HAVE to do them, just because some big guy somewhere along the way told them that "only pussies avoid the big movements like squats deadlifts and bench press"
any muscle contraction can stimulate hypertrophy. deadlifts are not essential, as long as your using a variety of other movements to tagert your lats to stimulate that hypertrophy.

well, fi think part of the problem i that bodybuilding itself is not a money machine. there needs to be more money in winning contests. guys realize that isnt where they make money, so they have to go other places for the dough. but really, no matter how mainstream we can make bodybuilding, and how much money they start to make...i think having "weirdo's" and fags and gay4pay just goes hand -in-hand with the psychology of the average bodybuilder.
you gotta be fucked in the head to want to dedicate your life to making your body look like the ones you see on an olympia stage ! ;D

Although I don't plan on ever trying it, I am interested in how/why insulin can add 40lbs of muscle on someone.
While we're at it, Milos, would insulin be of any use to powerlifters, etc....someone looking for strength gains only?

from what i know of insulin, it inhibits protein breakdown to a large degree and it promotes the uptake of nutrients into the muscle cell.
other than that i couldnt tell you.
i have no idea if it is useful for strength gains. i could only imagine that it would help. but i cant be sure its going to be significant. powerflifters eat alot of starches right? thats helps them get stronger? i guess insulin probably would help.

I like it but why the zinc/mag at breakfast? Do you feel a bit sleepy in the mid morning taking magnesium?

nope, i didnt know magneium was supposed to do that. gladly it doesnt hold me back at all. i personally just think zinc and magnesium are important for hard training athletes to be able to recover efficiently + consistantly.

try some simple carbs before bed... most people are going to say its not too smart, but its not going to make you fat if the rest of your diet is on point..and it should help put you to sleep.

yes i have. it works very well when done correctly. however, those low carb days are a bitch.
the general rul is something like high high med med low high high med med low repeat... although the way i personally do it is more instinctual and i will have high carb days as i feel necessary and low carb days as i feel necessary. thhis is based on fullness and rate of fat loss and also what body part i might have trained. i always like high carbs on chest day, since its my weak point. and although it is kind of counter intuitive, i like low carb day on legs, because they are so large and i feel like depleting the legs is super great for fat loss.

no i think you either drink some casein or eat some red meat before bed. interfering with sleep is not soemthign id suggest. however, if you are like me; and you always wake up at least once per night, when you do wake i up i suggets you take a couple caps of fish oil and eat some kind of left overs :P (left over meat product with little to no fats or carbs of course)

well i just woke up, did about 15 minutes o the stationary bike..took a shower, coooked some ground turkey and made some oatmeal and now i am posting on getbig while i eat. i think i will do shoulders this afternoon. eat alot today of course. not much else on the schedule.

tip of the day [ ;D ] =
when you are in the gym doing a heavy compound movement such as bench press, try supersetting you heavy sets on the compound movement with a super light weigh, almost no resistance, isolation movement for higher reps. for exampple, on the bench press, when you get done with a heavy set, immideitly get up walk to the back of the bench and do wide grip push ups pushing off of the barbell. just use your body weight and focus on geting the chest to do all the work. dont stimulate the muscle at all, just try to keep some blood in there and keep your mind+muscle strong.
for bench press you can do those push ups or even a cable crossover movement. dead lifts i would suggest doing stiff arm pull downs or even "lat shrugs" hanging from a pull up bar. for squats you can do light weight leg extensions.

cardio is good any time of the day... but unless its first thing AM or first thing post workout, or your last meal was "starch free" its going to take 20 mins (on average) to start mobilizing fat. personally, im not doing no 20 minutes of cardio just to wait to start burning fat ! LOL !
i suggest you just get your cardio done post workout, if you cant do it first thing AM.
although even just 5 minutes doing some kind of light physical activity in the AM would be beneficial to boost insulin sensitivity and keep your anabolic hormones and enzymes running high.

I love eating fruit in the summer: apples, mangoes, pineapple, plums, apricots, watermelon, etc...
I keep it under control so it's no more than 3 pieces of fruit a day.
Is that too much calories? I don't eat ice cream or chocolate or any of that sweet stuff.

i think you should just have some casien/red meat before bed. that should be fine. i wouldnt interefer with sleep. if you DO wake up, go ahead and get some protein in.

fruits are very low calorie. as long as you keep their consumption under control you hsouldnt have any problems. however, i dont see very much use for them in a diet, besides anti-dioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. but i think vegies are a better source for those things.

What do you think about Kool-aid as a post-workout drink? It seems to work well for the brothas. I'm thinkin about using some Kool-aid post workout and then downing some Popeye's chicken for my post-workout meal. Also would you recommend very berry Kool-aid or just regular grape Kool-aid? Thanks in advance.
im gonna have to give you the OKAY on the pw kool aid. but definitely stick with the regular grape cool aid, you only want "purple drank" post workout. trust me on that one.
i prefer el pollo loco to popeyes, both are A-okay in my book however.
remember though, this kind of dieting isnt for the weak hearted and you might want to allow yourself a cheat meal twice or three times daily.

What about rack deads?
Do you see them as alternatives to the full-range movement?
yeah, hell yeah, any muscle contraction can stimulate growth. if you feel more comfortable doing parrarell squats than just do those. i think going past parallel actually recruits more hamstrings ...
i prefer rack deads and in my lats and i can keep the quads out of the movement.

yes and no. and when he is its just playful. dany and me have conversed many times before and he is not an enemy of mine
2) if I had to chose a trainer/nutri-coach... why would I chose you?
because you feel i am the most knowledgeable guy available to you. lol.. you should choose whoever you think is best. whoever that may be. you gotta believe in what your doing.
3) what do you think of Cutler's rep style(explosive positive... nonexisting negative) - possible benefits/dangers? i think he is missing out on some grwoth potential by not focusing on the negative. i aloways incorporate some negatives into my rouinte. as for the safety.... if your an experienced weight lifter and you know your body i thnk its fairly safe to train that way.
4) what is your longterm goal regarding bodybuilding?
well,m i have an image in my mind of what i would like to craft my body into. i will continue to give it 100% in every aspect of the lifestyle to get to this image, to this body, that i want.

a) I try to follow a basic 5(keto)/2(mildcarbload) approach - will a little simple sugar after my workouts throw me out of
the system? it will take you out of "ketosis" yes, but i dont feel its going to effect over all fat loss at all.
b) I eat a good deal of veggies every day. Originally Mo-Fr of this diet only consist of protein and fat... nearly no fiber
I highly doubt this aspect of Di Pasquale's approach... your thoughts?
try it out both ways, with and without veggies. im sure youll notice that you make considerabely better progress WITH vegetables in every meal.
6) what is the essentiell difference between Bodybuilding and Powerlifting in your eyes... is powerbuilding the optimal blend? good question. other than the obious, i am not so sure how to phrase it. there is a big difference in the psychology, even though the training is so similar. i consider powerlifters someone who is inwardly insecure. while a bodybuilder is someone who is outwardly insecure. powerbuilding is probably just a well rounded individual.
7) do you think a lagging bodypart can ever be brought up - isn't the body meant to grow in a uniform way?
e.g. a dude only barbell curles his whole life - for 20 years consistently... will he be able to make his arms
radically disproportionate to the rest of his body?
not naturally, unless you trained it like a pussy and thats why its lagging. you can do it with drugs however.
8 ) what do you think about extreme stretching?
i think it can help, but its not a miracle thing.
