I couldn't find the training logs so i guess the mods can move this thread to the appropriate board. Then I met Adonis and a bodybuilder at the university gym who took me under there wing and convinced me to cut all the way down. By the end of it all I was 155 skinny fat. I did my first show in 07 and came in at 146 as a light weight and placed 2nd. This year, even though I wasn't as lean as i should have been, I was 20 pounds heavier at weigh ins and placed 2nd in novice middle weight out of a class of about 12 people and then i placed 5th in open in a class of similar size. Chad hasn't posted the score card on mayhem yet but I will post it here whenever he gets around to it. Next year I hope to be a light heavy and I will try to get up to 190-210 this offseason. These are the progress pics from the past 3 years and some from today. I will keep a rough update of my lifts and diet in this thread. I plan to eat around 4000 calories every day and I want to try to stay fairly lean this offseason. I wonder why you all of a sudden got that gyno though (even at low bf) =)I have had it since i was 13. Getbigs eagerness to cry drugs is humerous. I had it when i was 146 lbs. It goes away to an extent when i diet down lean but the lump is still there. It can get pretty bad in the offseason when i start to add fat.

I knew i would only be a fragment of my former level of conditioning. Im getting more of an idea of what they judge the shows on now. I noticed how some of the more conditioned guys are placing lower and i think it could be because of proportion. The higher your bf the more proportioned you look. I think it is also important to mention that i don't have any pictures from the center audiences perspective except the tiny ones i posted in the other thread which were no good. I will post the good ones when i get the DVD but until then i guess ill transfer them over into this thread so people won't have to look for it. It would be silly to measure.... i think in the fat pics my legs got up to 27 and then for my first show they were 22 and now they are like 24. Im no Heather Policky... she has great quads. 26 inches with with sweep.

My form may not be perfect but i try. I go until my hams and calves touch. I notice the heavier i go the faster i go. It is kind of strange actually because i always thought it was reps and hypertrophy but whenever i did the high volume work outs i didn't get much out of them. I try to get in and out of the gym in 45 mins. Heavy weight, low sets, and low reps.

Front Squats: 4 sets of about 6-10 (counting the warm ups).
Squats: 3 sets of 6
Single leg legpress: 2 sets of 6
Leg extensions: 2 sets of 15 and then on the last set i did a drop set from 260 down to 135
Then i do all the girl hip and thigh abductor machines for 2 sets with the whole stack.
Today I'm going to do delts and i might be in there again to screw around if i have the energy. Ill probably do
DB shoulder press: 4 sets of 100 X 12 and then drop it down and as i go lighter turn them into Arnold presses. Our gym goes no higher than 100lb dbs so i have to improvise
Barbell shoulder press: 2 sets of 6
Side laterals: 2 sets of 12 and i usually do a drop on both sets
Then i usually go over to a machine and do negatives with the whole stack and work on exploding up. 5 reps with 5 sec negs, 3 reps with 3 set negs, then 5 quick reps.
This is just an example of the kind of stuff i do. I try to have fun when i go to the gym.
I don't keep track of carbs. It is the off season after all ;D. My protein right now is about 300-350 grams and i try to keep my fat under 70 grams a day, however, i do not keep track of it strictly. Everything i eat is lean and fat free so I'm getting trace amounts from my carb sources and lean meats. I only eat meat about twice a day as well because i don't think its healthy to eat a lot of it. Whey makes up for a lot of my protein sources as well as egg whites. I drink much of my calories so it is very easy to get a lot of calories.What happened to change your mind on protein intake? 1 cup egg whites: 120
1 cup milk: 80
1 banana: 135
1 cup oats: 300
about 4oz vanilla yogurt: 110
Blend it all together and drink. That's 745 cals right there and about 50 grams of protein. Eat that with 2 bagels which typically run about 250 cals each and you got about a 1200 cal breakfast. It is not very filling and a guarantee you with 2 hours you will be hungry again.

If i feel like i am strong enough to where i can dominate a weight set i will short stroke it meaning i do half motion from chest to above my head. I short stroke 205. If the weight is too heavy ill usually do full range of motion. With 245 thought i go just below the chin and then all the way up. Shoulders are the only lift i do that when i go heavy i don't go all the way down and up. So with 245 i go just below my chin and then explode up.

what do u do for hamstrings?Yes i have heard this too. For hamstrings i just straight leg deads with 405 just below the knee. Then i do lighter weight standing up on a bench with about 225-50 touching my toes and coming up just below the knee. Seated and standing ham curls, and sometimes lunges. I tried good mornings the other day and didn't like those. The reason why i do smith squats is because when you have 350 pounds on free weight and you make one wrong move its compounded by the weight (not like i could do 350 free weight anyways). It keeps me in a nice path and i don't have to have a good spotter. If i crash i just roll the bar forward.
whats so unsafe about free-weight squats? ??? Don't u have access to a power/squat rack? I've read in some places that squatting in the smith is actually more dangerous than free-weight squatting as it puts greater pressure in the knees... something about the knee being in a less stable position.

Then i do lighter weight standing up on a bench with about 225-50 touching my toes and coming up just below the knee. Seated and standing ham curls, and sometimes lunges. I tried good mornings the other day and didn't like those. The reason why i do smith squats is because when you have 350 pounds on free weight and you make one wrong move its compounded by the weight (not like i could do 350 free weight anyways). It keeps me in a nice path and i don't have to have a good spotter. If i crash i just roll the bar forward.Thanks.
Check your outer knee pain. Might be early patello-femoral tendonitis. You have pretty strong lateralis development relative to your medialis. I'll bet ten-to-one your patella is tracking laterally, due to an over-exuberant pull by the vastus lateralis.Thanks man, that's actually solid information. I have been doing a lot of abductor and IT band work actually. I was actually thinking maybe my warm ups weren't good enough and that i should try warming up on leg extension. I will defiantly try some of these things.
Your solution: more terminal knee extensions. More glute work. More hip flexor and quad stretches. Foam roller work on your IT bands. Lay off the leg presses and leg extensions. Keep up the work on the front squats though -- that's probably helping you a lot. Try more lunges, and bulgarian split squats.
I could be wrong, so get a second opinion. But do it fast. You do not want to wake up one morning with full blown patello-femoral syndrome. It's a bitch and takes months to rehab.

Relaxing....right....now.I actually looked that up and it showed some stretches that i had never even though of that would help prevent that kind of pain. I'll try them all later this week when i hit legs again.

wellI actually tried jamming elbow into my quads and running it down the length of the outer head of the quad. It will pass in time hopefully. Previously i was having a lot of shoulder pain from heavy benching and i felt like there was an imbalance in my delts. I started training rear delts pretty hard and the pain went away.
to be safe when you do legs, you have to adjust your stance and toe positioning including distance between feet and how low you dip according to your bone structure ...
for example : I'm bowlegged and my legs also arch backwards when straight
So the best stance for me is quite open, with toes pointing at 2 ocklock ...
This way there's no unnatural twisting/scissoring forces on the ligaments/tendons and it uses my much stronger inner thingh ...
my bet is that Leafy bug is pushing himself too hard and doesn't take good care of his legs :

Just curious leafy whats the daily diet like?I have cleaned it up quite considerably because as you can see from the pictures i'm about to post i've put on quite a bit of fat. Typically i'd hide the fat pics but i think this is something everyone needs to see. Im up to about 185-190 now. My progress has tapered and im not having the explosive strength gains i used to. I don't know whats happening really. Adonis thinks i have put on some muscle but im not sure. I have added about an inch on to my leg but i don't know if it's fat or muscle. I think my hamstrings and traps have come up a bit but that is about all. I got my knee problem fixed from the smith press squats. I found out it was because i was coming up on my toes which put all the pressure on the tendons in my knee. Now i push from my heels and i feel it alot my in my hips.
The thing that worries me most is the possible damage i could be doing to my heart. When i lift its hard for me to breath and my face gets really red.

Right now i'm just eating whole grain breads, cereals, milk, oats, yogurt, raw eggwhites, buffalo meat, peanut butter and healthy nuts, cous cous, tuna, a daily poptart, and i have a pizza about once a week. On top of this i get my special work out shake ;). My calories are at about 4000-4200. Before i would pretty much just worry about getting my 220 grams of protein and the rest of my calories were cheese cake and pizza. I got pretty sick of eating like that anyway.
My chest has been getting a lot tighter lately so i have backed off on the heavy benching. It feels like 2 pulleys steadily tightening the muscle every time i hit chest so i just dropped the weight about 25 pounds and try to rep more. I would like to get one of those deep tissue massages to see if that would help. I just try to stretch it a lot. I can't stand it when they feel tight. I haven't had anything else seriously slowing me down though.... yet (knock on wood). Me and my work out partner just started doing leg press again. We are up to about 1025 pounds on it for 8-12 reps. My back squat has gone from 350 for a few struggling reps to 375 for 4. The thing that worries me most is the possible damage i could be doing to my heart. When i lift its hard for me to breath and my face gets really red. My front squat has plateaued completely and the most i ever did i think was 325 for 3. I have actually had to drop the weight on that back down to 305. I think my feet are positioned wrong so it is actually harder. I'll try to work on that in the next few weeks.
Here are the pics and a few shopped side by side so you can see the difference over time. It has only been about 3 months since the show. Some of these pics are in comparison with my 1 week out shots and the others are comparisons from the last time i posted pictures.
