LOL, Poor Mccain is all over the map and irrational.
-
He's an senile old warhorse who's seen much better days. Everybody is tired of his act. I don't see how in the hell this guy will get elected. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people though.
-
What the deal with the Palin
debacle debate?
-
CryBaby Mccain yesterday said, "No Bailout, No Debate." and was completely FIRM with that position.
Guess what didn`t occur? The Bailout.
Now the clown says, ok, I will debate. hahahhaah

she's too busy looking at Russia through binoculars in her backyard.

Imagine what happens if he wins this thing! He'll be ready to declare WWIII within a few weeks of taking office.
I'm not a huge fan by any means, but Obama is the only choice in this election. We need a rational thinker in the office.
-
They're doing everything possible to postpone the Palin debate indefinitely.
mcCain flipflopped. It was more a cry for attention than anything else. Both Repubs and Dems admitted he was pretty irrelevant to the economic discussion. (Obama was too - these talks are above their heads by experts in congress on finance and banking).
however mccain was the only one to make the whole dog/pony show out of cancelling debate to 'save the say' which he did not. Even paulson admitted that his presence stalled what was a near-complete piece of legislation.
i don't blame him. He's desperate at this point.
-

You make a good point. The president is uspposd to be a decisive man. Mccain appears to be very indecisive at this point. Do you want a leader who isn't stable?
-
My theory on this whole charade is this:
Mccain was informed by his staff that Palin was proving to be so hopeless with the mock debates and she is not learning anything or capable of it. Mccain is known to have a huge temper and he himself is entirely frustrated with Palin. So he tried to suspend the debates in the hopes that Palin could avoid the debates or stall for more time in the hopes that the people wouldn`t have adequate time to pay attention.
They also may have discussed replacing Palin altogether. Mccain and his aides are clearly frustrated with her and are in damage control. They don`t know what to do. They know Palin is ruining it for him even worse than he is ruining it for himself.
-
with mc cain in the office theres another invitation written out to a new 9/11 attack.

She needs to back out immediately and cite family issues as the reason. She's a fraud that didn't take too long to expose. I almost feel sorry for her total incompetence, but I don't want her even sniffing the VP slot. She's mentally deficient, McCain is mentally unstable.
DO NOT VOTE FOR THE CRAZIES!

Obama is gonna wtfpwn that n00b.

I'm surprised they haven't pushed her forward by now. The silence is getting pretty deafening.

I've never seen Dave L. go off on someone of such high prestige for a long period of time. He even brought Olbermann on and railed against McCain. All fair play after what McCain did though.
-

I've never followed or learned politics outside of 1st grade....
Are they allowed to swap their choices at this point? ???

I can't answer that question unless you promise to vote Obama/Biden.

But McCain helped so much in washington, they need him!
Inside an intense White House meeting over the financial crisis on Thursday, where nearly every key player came to an agreement on the outlines of the bailout package, Sen. John McCain stuck out. The Republican candidate, according to sources with direct knowledge, sat quiet through most of the meeting, never offered specifics, and spoke only at the end to raise doubts about the rough compromise that the White House and congressional leaders were nearing.
McCain's reluctance to jump on board the bailout agreement could throw the entire week-long negotiation into a tailspin. Sen. Chris Dodd, after leaving the White House, suggested on CNN that the tenuous process could be derailed by what he viewed as McCain's political motives.
"What happened here, basically, if you want an honest appraisal of the thing, we have been spending a lot of time and I am tired. I have spent almost seven straight days at this in trying to come out with a workout plan for our economy a rescue plan," said Dodd. "What this looked like to me was a rescue plan for John McCain for two hours and took us away from the work we are trying to do today. Serious people trying to do serious work to come up with an answer."
According to the source with knowledge of the White House gathering -- which featured both presidential candidates, congressional leaders and the President -- virtually ever key figure in the room, save McCain and GOP Sen. Richard Shelby, were in agreement over a revised version of Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's plan.
Towards the end, McCain finally spoke up, mentioning a counter-proposal that had been offered by some conservative House Republicans, which would suspend the capital gains tax for two years and provide tax incentives to encourage firms that buy up bad debt. McCain did not discuss specifics of the plan, though, and was non-committal about supporting it.
Paulson, however, argued directly against the conservative proposal. "He said that he did not think it would work," according to the source. At another point in the meeting, President Bush chimed in, "If money isn't loosened, this sucker could go down" -- and by sucker he meant economy.
ABC News reported that, following the meeting, Paulson "walked into the room where Democrats were caucusing...at the White House and pleaded with them 'please don't blow this up.'" But this story isn't incomplete, according to sources.
Democrats stayed talking in the Roosevelt room and Paulson approached them. After his comment, Speaker Pelosi and Rep. Barney Frank shot back that the real problem was with House Republicans. Paulson replied, "I know, I know," as he got down on one knee to lighten the mood. Pelosi joked back, "I didn't know you were a Catholic."

I see the libs on here can't seem to put down the crack pipe. Especially our resident commie TA.

Yes, they can replace Palin at this stage in the game. The most likely scenario is that she will withdraw from the VP slot and cite some sort of issue within her family that has to be addressed. This woman's life is so chaotic, it wouldn't be a stretch to come out with a story like this...hell, it might even have a little truth in it.
-
I see the libs on here can't seem to put down the crack pipe. Especially our resident commie TA.
Who needs legit arguments, when you have namecalling!
-
I see the libs on here can't seem to put down the crack pipe. Especially our resident commie TA.
I love how you hide behind the name calling. Every single post, it's "libs" or "commie." Save us "COACH." We don't care to hear your uninformed, unintelligent, insulated opinion. McCain is total horse dung Coach! As bad as Obama is (and he's no great prize), he's certainly better than John McCain.
-

Before the taxpayors are on the line for 700 billion dollars, if there is a real alternative then we must hear it and explore it quickly. Nearly 60% of Americans polled this week said they were against a 700 billion dollar bailout. This is a debate for the experts, but reasonable alternatives need quick investigation.
-
Who needs legit arguments, when you have namecalling!
Exactly. "The Coach" keeps it as simple as possible. The guy has ZERO clue about what is going on.
-
I just heard they're saying McCain is dying of skin cancer and that they're going to produce medical papers confirming this. Just from a random person probably talking shit this morning but I'm just saying, the notion's out there in the public consciousness. Now it seems everybody can't wait for tonight to see how bad it's gonna get for them. They keep playing the Couric clips by themselves with very little commentary because I think they speak for themselves.

McCain didn't get into specifics because he doesn't understand finance or economic issues. Not to say Obama is much better in this aspect, but Obama is a deliberate decision-maker and obviously not a fan of what is going on right now. He's in one helluva spot - just watching this country get more screwed up by the day and knowing he will inherit 8 years of destruction via Bush.
McCain will put us all into a Great Depression and then launch WWIII against Russia and China. He's frothing at the mouth and ready to do battle with everyone.
-
I havent seen a legit arguement about this yet. What i do see is most on here would rather rely on the government for everything. Take my money and use it for a handout for people who are too lazy and dont have the drive to take care of themselves or their families. TA seems to be on board with this type of irrational thought.

Where did you hear that? I will say that he's got a HUGE growth or something on the left side of his face. He looks horrible, even for a 72 year old. This Rep ticket is a total disaster.

Coach, I understand where you are coming from. However, the fact that John McCain doesn't get along with ANYONE should raise some concern. I don't like all of what Obama is saying either, but we can not get involved in any more wars! McCain is spewing bile to anyone - whether it be Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq....the guy wants to fight everyone! We won't have any country left to debate the issues you are so concerned about.

Imagine what happens if he wins this thing! He'll be ready to declare WWIII within a few weeks of taking office.

Exactly why the world is so pro Obama, which is an understatment to say the least.
Delusional types who seem to have to knowledge of the fact that much of the world is democratic and enjoys the same standard of living thinks the worlds objection to the foreign policy of the US is because we "hate for the freedoms" rofl...but it is simply the aggression, fear of perpetual war, and more and more international nations invaded and worldwide people killed.
-
Coach, you seem to vote and/or support whoever is a republican, and seemingly for that reason only.
When you look around as you are on the town, do you honestly think things are getting better? Every time I leave my house, all I see is desperation growing, depressed people worried about their situation and realizing there is not an end in sight.
It's almost like we could be seeing a replay of the Great Depression and we'll be in the Dust Bowl.
How did we get here? Eight years later with Bush in office, Coach, are you going to try and spin this towards Clinton and the Dems?
-

Yes! In short, we can't put Dr. Strangelove in office. We won't have any country left to debate these issues about the role Govt should play. Let's get Obama in office and work on putting this country back together.

America is in no position to keep alienating the world. McCain's stance on Russia is downright dangerous.

Who said anything about cancelling the VP debate or postponing it indefinitely. If McCain didn't attend the debate tonight, it would have been re-scheduled to take place during the slot reserved for Palin v. Biden. Now that McCain is going to the debate, the VP one is back as scheduled.
And, why exactly is McCain "desperate", again? This is still a toss-up battle and this debate topic (national security) supposedly favors McCain. Desperation would be for someone being blown out of the water. That is hardly the case with McCain. It's a neck-and-neck race.

Better check the poles because the corn eating Mid-West and Heartland still think McSame and Pantyline are the solution. There is a reason why American schools are ranked #22 in the World.
If he switched VPs at the stage...it should be a 90-10 landslide for Obama. People can't that DUMB!

The point is that he TRIED to postpone the VP debate, and every network and talking head went apeshit - they knew he was just hiding Palin - so he changed his mind.
And, why exactly is McCain "desperate", again? This is still a toss-up battle and this debate topic (national security) supposedly favors McCain. Desperation would be for someone being blown out of the water. That is hardly the case with McCain. It's a neck-and-neck race.
Because the trend since Sept 7 has been a lot of lost ground for Mccain. He was UP in the state by states. now he's down. Bigtime. Palin bounce is over and each day - and polls show this - 100,000 more people change from Mccain to Obama. This trend continues, and it's not even close.

I see the libs on here can't seem to put down the crack pipe. Especially our resident commie TA.

I keep hearing this right-wing talking point about obama.
He sat thru about 10,000 interviews in the last 20 months without a teleprompter.
yes, he uses them for speeches. Everyone does.
Governor palin has been thru THREE interviews now, and with Katie Couric she kept looking at her 3x5 note cards.

Tonight at the debate:
At the debate tonight, McCain plans to attack Obama for 'supporting' Bush's 700 billion dollar bailout, while at the same time extolling the virtues of the House Republicans' alternative proposal, which he will claim better protects the interests of homeowners and taxpayers.
The idea is to link Obama with Bush and to shore up McCain's reputation as a "maverick."
He's also hoping to catch Obama off guard by shifting the focus of the debate to the bailout rather than the stated topic of foreign policy, the thinking being that Obama only rehearsed for a debate on foreign policy.

"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
—Michelle Obama, The Charlotte Observer

I just hope Obama punches back hard in the debate. He has to be real and not over think his responses to mcsame. I hope he brings up the fact the Rick Davis has still be receiving money from Freddy mac. I want to see mcsames face turn red! and see him get pissed off. That is what Obama needs to try and do, he needs to get under mcsames cancerous skin and get him so pissed off that he stumbles on his words, and looks like an old grumpy bastard.

I have been hitting the conservative blogosphere and they are in a panic and turmoil about all of this. They are even thinking this is the case. Apparently some of Mccain`s top aides are frustrated and quoted as saying Pain is "hopeless", "embarassment" in regards to them trying to teach her policy and specifics for the upcoming debate.

A woman said basically the same thing on a Radio talk show yesterday afternoon. She said, it was really the Palin debates that they wanted postpone, so they used the Bailout as a backdrop to postpone. Damn, this election has more twist and turns than a bad action movie...

Adonis, the media killed her with all the speculation and rumors.
She isn't the most qualified VP but the beatings she took from various media outlets was shamful, particularly the personal & family attacks. There's enough to criticize and question about her without all that crap.

When she was interviewed by Charlie Gibson, that was pathetic.

What do you suggest? We elect McCain so he can send Americans off to die fighting superpowers? We're already mincemeat financially.
-
240 put up Obamas credentials vs. Palin again. This is getting ridiculous.
Really, let's compare Palin and Obama objectively, since the Republicans claim Palin is Obama's equal, or even that Palin is more qualified to possibly be President.
Undergraduate
Obama
-early undergrad at Occidental college, ranked 37th among liberal arts colleges by US News and World Report
-he did well enough to transfer to Columbia, the third most selective Ivy League college, Columbia being only slightly less selective than Harvard and Yale
Palin
-Went to the University of Idaho. While a decent school, it's considered a third tier school by the US News rankings.
Graduate
Obama
Harvard Law School.
-editor of law review in first year based on grades and writing ability. For those of you who are unaware, this essentially marks him as among the smartest and most able in a group full of very smart and able people.
-President of Law review in his second year. First black president of Harvard Law Review. Again, a very prestigious position, and marks him as both a leader, and as someone of exceptional ability.
-Graduated Magna Cum Laude (highest academic honors), again a significant achievement among a group of significant achievers.
Palin
N/A
Objectively then, Obama is either significantly smarter, harder working or both than Palin. His undergraduate education is objectively and provably better. His grad work proves that he was leaps and bounds beyond Palin in terms of intellectual and leadership ability. You don't get to be President of Harvard Law Review by being average, or a shrinking violet.
Advantage: Obama

Palin

Mayor of Wasilla, 1996-2004
governor of Alaska, 2006-present. Note that Alaska has 600k people in the whole state.
Advantage: Obama As both senator and state representative, Obama has experience representing more people, and larger districts with larger issues than does Palin.
Honestly, if you were on the search committee for, say, a board of director's position of a fortune 500 company, who would get the nod, Obama or Palin? It's Obama, if you have even a shred of honesty in your body. Given that, why is Palin even in the ballpark as number 2 in line for the Presidency? Don't get me wrong, Sarah Palin has some achievements, and she has a right to be proud of them. But realistically, in any category that matters Obama is better than Sarah Palin.

In August 2005, Obama traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya]
So let's see - discounting his campaign trips and meeting with World leaders of UK, Germany, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan - he has been on official business talking war stuff with the Senate Foreign Relations committe to:

Russia
Ukraine
South Africa

Mccain is 72 years old, and has had cancer 4 times.
Mccain smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years.
He has degenerative arthritis.
He's had cataract surgery.
Also, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, he's
Arthritic, has had Vertigo.
He's on 6 different medications including for
Kidneys, cholesterol, sleep, blood clots.
And he's about to enter the most stressful job on Earth?
-
Really, let's compare Palin and Obama objectively, since the Republicans claim Palin is Obama's equal, or even that Palin is more qualified to possibly be President.
Palin

Objectively then, Obama is either significantly smarter, harder working or both than Palin. His undergraduate education is objectively and provably better. His grad work proves that he was leaps and bounds beyond Palin in terms of intellectual and leadership ability. You don't get to be President of Harvard Law Review by being average, or a shrinking violet.

What do you suggest? We elect McCain so he can send Americans off to die fighting superpowers? We're already mincemeat financially.
McCain is not extreme right, I think he would make a good democrate, where do you get this notion about him wanting to start a war..........
-
So, let me get this straight, you wanna vote a man with just 10 years political expierence for the position of President of the most powerful country in the world.......God help us.

Obama is the typical left wing extremist in La La land making all these unattainable promises.
He said he going to make the U.S not dependent on foreign oil in 10 years.......he's delusional, it'll take about 3-4 years just get through all the red tape with all the environmental groups.

I wouldn't like it as much as Obama getting voted as president.

Look, I'm not a huge fan of McCain either, but I'd rather have him in there then Obama. A weak, symapthetic, liberal President is not what the U.S needs right now.

Again, its just my speculation. I hope that is clear.
She will be debating Joe Biden.Hes a fucking idiot. Is he still sticking to his lie that his wife was killed by a drunk driver?

I think Palin is as inexpierenced as Obama

A girl interviewed about Mccain doing the debate, "It's good, I would have voted for McCain, maybe..."
And these are the people ladies and gentleman that make up the voter base. She says she would vote for McCain, then adds "maybe"
We're fucked either way i beleive
-
I'm very afraid it doesn't matter how irrational Mccain is or how uninformed Palin is shown to be. In the heartland Obama is a black muslim with a terrorist wife.
-
Look, I'm not a huge fan of McCain either, but I'd rather have him in there then Obama. A weak, symapthetic, liberal President is not what the U.S needs right now.
That's what Clinton was when he stepped in office, and we end up $200B on the flip side which Tiny Tim has spent on candy and Daddy's War. You get the same bucket of intelligence with Obama. Lastly...McCain doesnt understand economics at his own admission.
-
That's what Clinton was when he stepped in office,
Clinton took the Presidency at a time with little military spending and was the benefactor of a little thing called the internet. History will prove him to be a middle child President at best.
-
McCain commanded Obama. He took charge. When he wanted tos peak he spoke and Obama backed down and let him everytime. I hope if he becomes President (Obama) he isn't such a pussy and he takes command.
-
I havent seen a legit arguement about this yet. What i do see is most on here would rather rely on the government for everything. Take my money and use it for a handout for people who are too lazy and dont have the drive to take care of themselves or their families. TA seems to be on board with this type of irrational thought.
Epic talking random shit like the steroid abusing midget that you are.
This is about McCain, his policies, his plans, and you are attacking TA's personal views..? Talk about McCain's lack of economic knowledge, or practicality, or even his lack of understanding of the definitions of shia and al-queda; even when he's given a free pass on national defense. ::)
You've become a running joke on this forum.
-

Hey, fatty, your posts don't make much sense. Lay off of the cheetos and cherry coke. :-\
-
fuck it!
-
Whats funny; Bill Clinton was "just" a governor of a little old state also. It was ok for him to become president, but Palin's not alright for vp.
-
Imagine what happens if he wins this thing! He'll be ready to declare WWIII within a few weeks of taking office.
I'm not a huge fan by any means, but Obama is the only choice in this election. We need a rational thinker in the office.
Is there only two people running for Presidency ???
-
Reading this thread you have to wonder if there any Repugnants that can form an intelligent argument.
For the most part, they just regurgitate the same tired buzzwords and personal attacks.
They never demonstrate any independent thoughts; they never add anything of substance to a debate.
I'm not really a Democreep myself; it's just something I notice.
Repugnants always sound like 'tards'.
Sadly, none of it matters; people will vote for the guy that they can relate to the most.
McCain will be the next president.
-

Look at the old posts. Intelligence equals Adaptability which puts Clinton (top end Oxford) and Obama (Hall of Fame Harvard) in the same bucket. Why you keep adding Palin to the discussion. McCain couldnt get Bobby in Louisiana...given he wasnt playing that brown man against brown man BS, and Rice didnt have anything to gain...so he just went for a pretty soccer mom to get Hilliary votes. There is nothing else...so stop trying to make it up.
1. McCain isn’t for Change…just took that line for Obama.
2. Was going to claim he got the $700B package completed because he went to Washington. Complete, New Level BS!
3. Onlyme needs to cut back on the beer. Obama’s debate. Smart move not to be bullish against McCain. Worthless US Media is already trying to call him an Angry Black Man.
McCain doesn’t understand economics by his own admission. How the hell is going to fight the Republicans when he has been at the head of the pack for 35 years. More BS!
I’d vote JFK, Jr if he was still around. Since he isn’t…Obama is the REAL choice for 2008.

They know Palin is ruining it for him even worse than he is ruining it for himself.
compelling opinion.....nice
as for Palin.....how can someone of that incapacity - intellectual and in terms of experience - come this close to the prize.....its unbelievable....you know there would be literally 100,000 in the sphere of U.S. politics, who are more capable than her....politics huh - money, looks and back-slapping......its all it is....

And that had nothing whatsoever to do with govermental decision making? When Clinton was elected after the gulf war the US was not in debt? Please think before you type.

Yes, but when you expierence the biggest economical growth ever, its kinda hard to fuck that up.
Also, what dramatic issues did Clinton have to deal with, other then getting caught with a fat chick.

Presidents that had to deal with the second world war, the korean war and the vietnam war did not leave the US in great debt. Reagan did. Bush did. Clinton had to pick up that mess and under his administration things got a whole lot better. You're implying the decisions made by his administration had nothing to do with that?

The point I'm trying to make is that any administration at that time would have taken the U.S out of debt due to the economic situation after the the gulf war, it had nothing to do with the Clinton administration.
Reagan had a tough economy just like Bush, not that I'm a big fan of Bush but with 911 he did not have an easy time.
You wanna see spending, vote in Obama...................

I'm talking about papa Bush. Under Reagan and him the US debt increased dramatically. Under Clinton it stabilized. If papa Bush had been re-elected would the same economic correction have taken place? Who knows but the facts are that under Clinton it did.

240 post Obama's credits vs the woman. Then...post here Katie interview. Obama did well to play lax in the 1st debate. As noted...Worthless USA Media was trying to sell him as an Angry Black Man. Trying to play the same with his wife in which several have said on CNN.
Palin isnt running but she is a heartbeat and untreatable Cancer away from the top spot. 1st debate was a toss...because McCain got off of subject matter which was expected. It was suppose to be about International matters...not Pig spending. That's getting old now. Economy and Global/Trade friends are McCains downfall...and he keeps the conversion away from them...but that's what we need at the moment...not a fight with Iran because of their WMD :-\. We've been down that road before. It's time for a true change.

The First Debate: A Win for Obama
By Michael A. Cohen
Michael A. Cohen is a senior research fellow at the New America Foundation and the author of “Live From the Campaign Trail: The Greatest Presidential Campaign Speeches of the 20th Century and How They Shaped Modern America.”
Any analysis of the first presidential debate in Oxford, Miss,. must begin with a simple question:What was each candidate trying to achieve?
For Barack Obama it was all about the half of all Americans who still think he lacks the requisite qualifications to be president. Would he seem knowledgeable and effective in talking about serious foreign policy issues? Would he be able to reassure them that they can trust him with the nation’s most powerful job? Would he be able to go toe-to-toe with John McCain.
For Mr. McCain, who is trailing in the polls and has had a rough two-week stretch since the financial crisis broke, he needed a clear victory Friday night. Considering that foreign policy is seen as his strong point he needed to portray Mr. Obama as naïve and inexperienced and not up to the job of commander in chief. More important, after his behavior of this past week, he needed to cultivate an air of statesmanship and counteract the growing chorus of recklessness being heard in the national media.
On a substantive level, both candidates acquitted themselves well. In a political vacuum, this debate would seem like a tie. But as any fan of baseball knows, the tie goes to the runner.
Well, in politics, the tie goes to the candidate who has the momentum and right now that candidate is Barack Obama and from that perspective the debate was an important tactical victory for him. He more than held his own and at times seemed more effective and knowledgeable than Mr. McCain whose efforts to paint his rival as inexperienced fell flat and occasionally seemed mean-spirited.
Beyond the mere question of expectations, Mr. Obama was far better at relating the debate to those issues that are of greatest concern to voters. His relentless message discipline was again on keen display.
Nowhere was that more evident than in the debate’s initial economic discussion. While neither candidate seemed willing to go on the record in support of the federal bailout plan now being negotiated in Washington, Mr. Obama talked about the financial crisis in terms of how it affected voters directly. He linked the turmoil on Wall Street to issues like health care and jobs, and he seemed more empathetic than Mr. McCain.
Mr. McCain spent much of the economic part of the debate talking about earmark spending. He mentioned it three times and was relentless in his focus on the scourge of government spending. As one TV commentator joked, he clearly has sewn up the anti-earmark segment of the electorate.
But it begs the question: Are Americans really concerned about government spending? At a time when there are warnings of another Great Depression, Mr. McCain’s incessant focus seemed off the mark and unhelpful.
On the larger foreign policy questions, Mr. McCain was far stronger and consistently hit his main talking points, particularly in describing his support for the surge in Iraq and raising doubt about the qualifications of his opponent. On the latter point, he said repeatedly that Mr. Obama “doesn’t understand” the key issues affecting the country. But he might have taken the point too far. Considering that more than half of all Americans support Mr. Obama’s view of the war in Iraq (namely that it was a mistake) and agree with him about the need to speak directly with foreign leaders who are enemies of the United States, Mr. McCain risked indirectly insulting voters who share Mr. Obama’s views. His constant refrain, while effective message discipline, may have brought diminishing returns for the candidate
In addition, it seems clear that Mr. McCain does not like his opponent. He never looked at him and even in the pre-debate handshake gave him an apparent cold shoulder. The result was that Mr. McCain at times seemed annoyed with Mr. Obama and unable to hide his contempt.
In contrast, Mr. Obama was restrained, even laconic, passing up numerous opportunities to aggressively counter-attack his opponent. At times he wandered too far into law professor mode, but for the supposedly less experienced candidate, there were no obvious mistakes or gaffes. It was a workmanlike performance. And the one word that came to mind when watching the Democratic nominee was “statesmanlike.” Even if you didn’t agree with Mr. Obama, it’s hard to argue that he didn’t come across as serious and sober.
Maybe this was purposeful; an effort to cultivate an image of the steady hand. His constant assertion that Mr. McCain was “right” or that he agreed with him seemed at times over the top, but likely appealed to undecided voters tired of partisanship in Washington.
In the end, Mr. Obama went into Friday night the clear favorite in the presidential election. Nothing that happened in Mississippi changed the direction of the race. And with less than 40 days until Election Day that means a win in Mr. Obama’s column.

Interesting analysis. All polls show people feel obama won the debate. When its admitted on fox news that McCain didn't win....you know he didn't win...

I'm talking about papa Bush. Under Reagan and him the US debt increased dramatically. Under Clinton it stabilized. If papa Bush had been re-elected would the same economic correction have taken place? Who knows but the facts are that under Clinton it did.
Regardless of who was in power at that time, the economy would have went through the same path, the administration had nothing to do with it.

Obama: "Yes it's true, I would have to suspend many of my plans to help America due to the ailing economy and the lack of funds to implement them, so we wouldn't see those programs for the first few years." = 4 years of nothing getting done.
Not that MCain was any better: "My friends, General Petraus.....friend...... .let me tell you....go look it up yourself....General Petraus....friends." Shows creepy, yellow teeth smile.

First and foremost..IN THE POLLS--If the election really is close than why did more significantly more independants think obama did better?
Second, The first half of the debate (which was more focused on today's economic crisis) went totally to obama. McCain had no response for the logical argument that we are in this crisis because of de-regulation other than "I am a maverick; I am not miss congeniality in the senate etc. etc."
Third, McCain seemed aggravated and flustered throughout even more so compared to the firm but extremely calm obama; see Nixon Kennedy debates. The look of sheer rage on his face when he stumbled over the pronunciation of Ahmadinejad typified the point. Obama was confident in stating when McCain was right and equally firm and tough when he disagreed.
I will admit that McCain made the most of a tough situation when it came to Iraq and definitely held his own against obama due to the success of the surge

An agreement between the Clinton administration and congressional Republicans, reached during all-night negotiations which concluded in the early hours of October 22, sets the stage for passage of the most sweeping banking deregulation bill in American history, l

Maybe if I just made it up myself it would have more value?
Im just saying both are to blame for deregulation. Is it not true?

Of course it would have more value if it was an original thought.
As far as democrats and republicans both being responsible that is true. The difference is that McCain is literally the poster boy for de-regulation; he utterly loves it and never EVER proposes regulation over removal of regulations. Obama (not a clinton for the record) has been calling for more and more regulations....

And all your thoughts are original? lol
original = Preceding all others in time; first. Not derived from something else; fresh and unusual
If I agree with the article, why would I bother going through the trouble of wording it differnently? To impress you? It states a fact and that's all I care about and yuo even agree with it.
As for Obama , we'll agree to disagree. AS far as i can tell he was in Fannie and Freddies back pocket.
-
Regardless of who was in power at that time, the economy would have went through the same path, the administration had nothing to do with it.
If that's true, it's another reason to not vote for McCain.
-
His is an honorable man, but his time is passed. His service to his country is laudable but given the challenges we are facing now he does not inspire confidence. :(

Yes, in fact, i have not stooped so low as to copy and paste something and claim it as my own....
Disagree all you want, just know that the majority of people agree with my analysis and not yours...
