No it's warming and climate change. the globe is heating up, however, because of the changes this induces oddities will begin in the weather cycle, natural patterns shift, storms worsen etc if certain things like el nino go out of whack the climate in a particular region can shift rapidly.

I've seen some nifty ideas, notably a giant space umbrella to block the sun on parts of the earth, but it would take a LOT to reverse the effects of man on our climate. Also, I imagine the repercussions of these measures would be significant

Yes, all variable besides co2 are accounted for, the rate of increase is pretty intense on a geological scale. We are looking more at the trend and the problems that are occuring, ocean acidification for example.

How can you conclude based on that much data that global warming is real? That's the same as performing a global HIV test, and only testing 2 persons out of the entire earth's population.

I liked when it was called Global Warming and we had some of the coldest winters in decades. Then the left wackos had to come out with a different name and called it Climate Change like no one would notice this. The fact is that we have been keeping accurate weather records for only about 125 years. Yes, we have had horrific hurricanes two, three and four hundred years ago. There were Tsunamis hundreds and thousands of years ago. Same with tornadoes and floods. Are we so egocentric that we think these things didn't happen before.

No I don't think you understand, we know the climate cycles of the earth, evolution is real too by the way. We also have historical records which show things like the rate of warming/cooling, atmospheric conditions.
However, something is wrong, warming is occurring faster then we have ever accurately recorded, indicating that it is perhaps the hottest period in history, as it appears.
We don't need all of the data from all of history, we don't need to know all 4.5 billion years to tell that the composition of the atmoshpere is different, we have retrospective techniques.
What this shows is that we are warming very fast (trending more rapid then any of the historical climateric data indicates) and just had the warmest global month ever recorded. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, but luckily they did.

Tell me loco, what impact would this have? It proves my point, the climate and earth is fragile, you would blame a random fucking tsunami and cite a one to two inch alteration in tilt. I like necrosis, even though I disagree with almost all his stances.... hut there is just far to much money to be made by the people funding many of these studies (not to mention the corrupt data and studies that were exposed years ago by high level climate scientists trying to sway the public) for me to but it wholesale, especially when we dont have that much data to compare, the fact that we have no real solid evidence how hot or cold the earth has been in the past (beyond a couple hundred years), and the fact that the earth goes through these massive warming and cooling phases that we really have no record of to compare, and to rule out as normal so that we can see what we, as humans, see actually doing to the climate.

the predictions are that the artic will melt first, as we are seeing,the antartic will be last due to only ice not land and ice and having a hole in the ozone. These issues would keep the antartic growing until the point where the wind(main driver in the antartic) couldn't counteract the warming. The major problem is that this will desalinate the oceans, which is occuring rapidly. Things like weather currents rely on this, what should happen as this occurs is unstable weather patterns, odd anomalies like snow in Cairo and extinction of many species. The major is however is that there is something called the permafrost in the artic regions, it's full of methane, way worse the co2, it has never melted , if it does, rapid shifts will occur.
The major issues are reduction in viable farm land, loss of sea level communities and massive loss of species.

I don't have time to read the report right now, and I'm not saying the report is or isn't mostly or entirely accurate - assuming it's based on facts and not opinion, and that it's actually generated by unbiased experts. And I'm not a scientist or GW expert myself.
But for it to have credibility and be taken seriously, they should have left Obama's name and the White House out of it. Because it's coming from Obama and the White House, I'm automatically assuming it's probably full of a bunch of lies and bullshit, and that the "experts" are mostly or entirely sycophants paid off with tax dollars to say what he wanted them to say. How many other lies has the admin told about how many other things? I've lost count.
If that's the case, hopefully we'll also hear from truly objective experts.
How do the climate change deniers respond to this newly-released report? Roger Bacon? Wiggs?
