Who makes better movies? I can't think of a single movie Cruise has made that wasn't entertaining, and that's all I want from a movie, but Pitt? Ever try to watch Tree of Life? No homo ;D
-
Cruise is the biggest and most consistent movie star of all time for quality of movies, it's not even close at this point, only dicaprio could rival him if he keeps up the quality for another 15 years or so.
-
Pitt is a better "actor" in my opinion in terms of his breadth. Cruise basically plays the same guy in most of his films.
-
As for better movies. I would say Brad Pitt. Inglorious Bastards was awesome his acting was good in that. World war z was good too. I do not see Tom Cruise as a good actor.

Cruise's acting in Magnolia and Born on the 4th of July is at least as good as anything Pitt ever did, arguably better than his Performances in Seven and Snatch

Don't forget Jerry Maguire.....Cruise was very good in that.

Check out Vanilla Sky.
-
Daniel Day Lewis is better than the both of them.
Anyway, I prefer Pitt or Cruise. Cruise is obviously a good actor, but I like more of Pitt's movies.
-
Cruise is the best
Brad Pitt is very very good but no Tom Cruise. Just look at their work. Tom is more more solid imo

Being a man, I don't like or watch either of them.

So what was a good Pitt movie? Don't say Snatch cause that was more of an ensemble cast. Only one I could think of was Interview with a Vampire. But wait.. ;D

fight club, seven, sleepers, seven years in tibet
-
Pitt's twice the actor and then some.
Inglorious Basterds, Se7en, Fight Club, Snatch, Moneyball...... I liked them better than most Cruise movies.
-
Being a man, I don't like or watch either of them.
Haha only Clint Eastwood for you.
-
watch fury if you haven't seen it yet
capped delts of peace
if movie ratings were based on hair, 5-star GOAT level filmmaking
that said, both are great.

agree.

The question you guys should be asking, who is more sexy.

Fight Club and Seven, I'll give you those two. I've seen the others but can't remember much about them. If a movie is memorable and sticks with you that means it was good.

The question should be who had the better looking wives?

All time?
Maybe Pacino and DeNiro before Cruise?
-
Haha only Clint Eastwood for you.
You hit the nail right on the head. ;D
-
For as crazy as Cruise is, his movies are great.
-
Both are good actors but I say Pitt is outstanding. If he wasn't so pretty he would have a bunch of Oscars by now. He really plays different characters in his movies instead of just playing himself like so many actors.
-
Rain man enough said :D

Apparently, you missed Eyes Wide Shut with his then wife Nicole Kidman. It was a dud.

agree.
Cruise is more consistent, makes big budget crowd pleasers
Pitt is more interesting and isn't afraid to taKe chances
Like them both

The currently highest paid actor is the comeback kid, Robert Downy Jr. probably thanks to the Ironman franchise.

I'm about over Robert Downey jr.
talk about playing yourself , he's always the smart guy with all the answers.

Daniel Day Lewis is better than the both of them.
Anyway, I prefer Pitt or Cruise. Cruise is obviously a good actor, but I like more of Pitt's movies.
I agree. Cruise is the better actor but has Pitt has landed in some really good movies - like Fight Club, and he continues to improve with age.
Daniel Day Lewis is in a league of his own.
-

Knight and day, Jack Reacher, Oblivion....been making some real crappy ones lately. Waaaay below his level of acting.
Same with Brad Pitt actually. Both very good actors but have been in some "below them" type movies in the last few years, imo.
-

DDL only takes VERY specific roles. If you look at the list of movies he has made, its not many compared to others. But they are all really well done!! From what I hear, he makes an insanely good movie, goes into "hiding", comes back out, makes another insanely good movie, then goes back into "hiding." He selects his roles very carefully.

Jack Reacher and Oblivion were entertaing but admittedly week. Just saw Edge of Tomorrow and it was quite good imo.
-
Legends of the Falls was phenomenal. Pitt stole the show in that.

I do want to see that one as Emily Blunt is one of the top female actresses, so a good combo with her and cruise.
-

Yes it was a dud at the box office but I liked the film because of the suspense, Cruise was an ordinary guy in way over his head I recently saw it again and liked it better the second time around The ending was a disappointment but gotta add that Kubrick died less than a week after the final cut. Maybe he was sick and just said fuck it or he couldn't figure out how to end it. But in any case you got to see Nicole Kidmans ass a few times so it's worth watching again

Good call, that was a great movie.

The guy is a chameleon... he can completely transform himself into highly believable characters and pull you into the reality that he conjures up. A true 'artist'.
That is a very draining process, creatively... he'd most likely burn out if he didn’t take the time off, I'm sure.
I watch very few movies, but I always check out Daniel Day Lewis films.
Epic movie -

Loved it. He just makes so many good movies. I loved, "my left foot."
-
Inglorious Bastards?
Lieutenant Aldo Raines?
Come on.....that role stunk for Pitt.
-

I've never seen My Left Foot, but I just watched the trailer.... it looks like he's gone 'full retard' in that one :o

I don't believe I can assess hotness with regards to these two fellows. Tom Cruise seems like an arrogant jerk and for me it comes through in his acting. If I had to pick one of these fellows to be a favorite actor, I'd have to pick Brad Pitt. There is more variety in the parts he has played over the years. Cruise just plays Cruise.

But he does it so well.
The Edge of Tomorrow is the best sci-fi flick in a while.

Couldn't be more wrong, all the movie crews love cruise, he takes time to learn all their names, buy them lunch etc, his beliefs aside everyone who works with him says he's the nicest guy in the world, and these are the guys behind the scenes who don't have to go on reddit etc and praise him up, but they do.
-
Early Cruise was awesome. I watch Risky Business once every month. So much nostalgia. But Pitt is in a league of his own. I can't believe he's still pumping out such awesome work. Not trying to be a fan boy, but I am a huge fan. He's a great actor.

Tom Cruise.

Good to know. I always like finding out something positive and good about people, especially those who I may have misjudged.
Without a doubt, his affiliation with Scientology and what I've read about his personal life with respect to this has definitely colored my opinion of him as a person. Hopefully, it has not affected how I view his acting skills. I find them lacking.

Tom Cruise is an incredible actor. I can separate his crazy Scientology ways from his acting/ movie rolls.

For as crazy as Cruise is, his movies are great.
always makes time for his fans. Seems a good guy to me.
-
Hard to say which one is the better actor since acting is hardly much of a talent to begin with.
Cruise though has probably acted in the better movies overall. Born on the 4th of July was excellent.
I can't think of any film outside of that one which I thought was anything special for either actor. Se7en perhaps.
-
both good but Cruise has been better as of late
-

I've heard the same from people that attended him in restaurants around Santa Monica, Sherman oaks
Both Pitt and cruise did a good job in interview with the vampire

Just watch "Inglorious bastards", "Fight club", etc... Brad shits all over that little bitch Cruise.

Cruise. Magnolia...

Ehm, what has Cruise done in the past 10-15 years what would even be mentionable except for the M:I franchise? ???
-
Both extremely overrated, but Cruise is the better actor, more consistent, much better movies overall... Pitt has few very good movies, Seven, The Snatch, Fight Club, Inglorious Basterds, Interview With The Vampire (masterpiece, both are there and Lestat rules), but he plays basically always the same character in every movie, the smart, good-looking, witty, "invincible" guy, except maybe Seven...
-
Who makes better movies? I can't think of a single movie Cruise has made that wasn't entertaining, and that's all I want from a movie, but Pitt? Ever try to watch Tree of Life? No homo ;D
that's not even a question. Tom Cruise all the way. Cruise Production is making him 3 times richer. the last mission impossible was a cash cow for Tom. Rumors has it that the next mission supposed to come out in 2016........even if Tom's movies doesn't do well in the US, they always do well overseas
-

Vanilla Sky, though he should have been nominated at least.
-
I am infuriated that some think Brad Pitt is better!
cause they don't know what they're talking about. Tom Cruise doesn't need to act anymore to make money.....Cruise Production is hot on the block these days....Tom Cruise audience is Global, especially in Japan, his movies always do good there, "the last Samurai" was a great movie
-
Apparently, you missed Eyes Wide Shut with his then wife Nicole Kidman. It was a dud.
??? That's a great film!

12 Monkeys
Pitt was brilliant in this!
Look at 12 Monkeys and Legends of the Falls, that is range folks.

some pretty fucked up scenes in it.
Great movie from 93

Only once have I walked out of a cinema.

not sure what the debate is between the two: better actor? better looking? bigger star? etcetera.....
on who is the bigger global star, there is NO QUESTION THAT CRUISE IS.. he's still the biggest GLOBAL star....
in comparison to just pitt, cruise has bigger overall box office total from his movies, been around as a huge star longer, and more "blockbuster" films than pitt....cruise has actually received ACCOLADES from a number of movie magazines from Premiere to most recently the british movie magazine EMPIRE as the biggest star in the world... heck, most of the time when he is making a appearance on a talk show whether here in the u.s. or abroad, part of his introduction is "the world's biggest movie star" line...
also cruise by himself compared with pitt by himself gets more GLOBAL newsworthy attention when making a appearance then pitt, who is helped in this regard by being married to another big film star that being jolie.. on his own, i don't think pitt would get nearly the global attention in newspapers, magazines, in person at premieres and out and about if he was single...
even pitt i remember at some bash for cruise a few years ago said to the journalist/reporter "that cruise was the king"....
too bad cruise's involvement in scientology!...
-
Cruise by a million miles. Cruise has been in movies that are still considered epic today. Top Gun, JM, Risky Business, Cocktail etc... Brad Pitt meh!

Those movies are pop culture phenoms. They changed society's behavior. After Top gun how many people started running around wearing aviators calling themselves Maverick and Ice Man? or Jerry Mc with the "you complete me" line.
Pitts best movie is fight club and that is a cult phemon as well but Cruise has had a lot more.

As is said, the "talent" of acting is not anything much to speak about. Everyone and his brother acts these days ... so much so, that the veil of this "art" has been removed and the truth of its lackluster impressiveness exposed for all to see.
Depressing how few seems to recognize this blatant fact.
Sure, some acting is terrible, but so, too, is some people's attempts to make Kraft Dinner, despite the overwhelming majority of folks having zero issue dishing out the zesty, cheesy and delightful cuisine in all its yumminess.
*All these Hollywood blowhards walking out onstage at the Oscars to dramatic/majestic music like they're gods of our time because they memorize some lines and pretend they're someone else without laughing.*

Not one single person I know.
-
Not one single person I know.
Does it matter, he wasn't really doing the world a favor with that one. But than again he really is the poster child for yuppie 80s narcissism.
Cruise is a 3/5, solid never had a bad movie, but always plays the same guy.
Pitt 3.5, can act well but not extremely well, however he's saved alot of shit movies from being total garbage(burn after reading, 12 monkeys etc)
Christian Bale, I think blows them out of the water.
He's been in a lot of shit movies and may be an uptight asshole, but dam can that mofo act. I'd say he's the only second to DDL. What makes him such a great actor is also the reason many don't like em. He makes shit movies fucking awsome, the only movie he couldn't save ironically was Terminator Salvation. Regardless, dude can play all the nuanced variations of crazy, drug crazy, getbigger crazy, pyscho killer crazy, crazy war vet, while still being able to dominate playing normal roles(cough cough batman)
-
12 Monkeys

Yup, I have to go with Pitt.
...but Cruise gets some bonus points for Top Gun and the little part he played in Tropical Thunder ;D

He is def up there. Prob top three actors for me personally.
I prefer more of Brad Pitts movies between him and Cruise going on thread topic but haven't liked the movies either of them have been in recently really.

It appears as if some of you are confusing how good the movie was with how well either actor portrayed their role in the film.
Brad Pitt has been nominated for 84 awards and won 25 throughout his career. Brad has been nominated as best actor or supporting actor 43 times and won 15 times. He has never been nominated for Razzie. Tom Cruise has been nominated for 72 awards and won 20. For acting, he has been nominated 32 times and won 9 times. He's been nominated for 6 Razzies and won twice. For those who don't know, a Razzie is the worst performance award.
Tom Cruise may enjoy a large public following, but so does Brad Pitt. In terms of being honored for their acting ability in particular roles, Brad has a better record. It appears Brad also produced more award winning films. But, this doesn't pertain to his acting ability.
-

Awards in the entertainment industry are just excuses to push the we're-so-talented-and-amazing program onto the masses who gobble up reality TV and buy into the idea Hollywood is a place of gods. They also, when presented on TV, are big money-makers, what with all the advertising dollars, etc.

I prefer to judge by myself than going for mostly useless awards, i agree with Fortress... Both are not that great, but Cruise has more range and can act a bit better... As for movies, The Last Samurai is probably superior than everything Pitt ever did... Just my opinions of course...
-
Why is everyone forgetting Keanu Reeves?

I agree, I would defend oscar for best actor just because for so many of our greatest actors it really truly ends up being a defining point in their careers, but than some real shit heads have gotten them(STallone???).

Oh my, talk about being completely unable to act... But nice guy, and some legendary movies like Point Break, Matrix, Devil's Advocate, and some others very good...

\\
LOL...the idiot speaketh.
I dated an actress in Manhattan around 94-95, and she pushed me to try and land some roles myself. I actually got cast in two off-Broadway productions and had fairly large speaking role in an indie film a director she knew was filming. the pressure is ridiculous, and I didn't pursue it any further. takes a special breed to be successful actor.
And I'm great...imagine how horribly you would fail.

Oh, brother. ::)
Went out for the high school play, mainly cause four of the hottest girls in the school were in it. I got a major part but not the lead and everything was fine as long as I had the script in front of me but then came dress rehearsal with no script in front of a small audience and I was sweating like a pig and screwed up every line. Drama teacher pulled me aside and tactfully told me she could use me on set changes.
A good actor can make you forget you are watching a movie or a play but when someone is bad everyone knows it. Not as easy as it looks.
-
been in a few plays in my college days and took some acting classes.. also been on the production side of things when i changed my focus....
takes a special (not sure if special is the right word for it!) kind of person to want and be in front or behind the camera in the tv/film world......
unfortunately everyone i EVER MET and/or worked with at least 90 to 99% were NOT good people! massive out of this WORLD ego, attitudes, you name it, pretty much every adjective that would describe NOT a good person!AND so much STRESS BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS DEF CON 5 IMPORTANT (in reality it's not!) AND HOW THE REST OF THE WORLD, THE REAL WORLD WORKS? TOTALLY GOES OUT THE WINDOW!....
I'M SURE THERE ARE decent good grounded people in front and behind the camera in the entertainment world doing it for the right reasons (not for fame, wealth, parties and what not) personally I JUST NEVER MET ANY OF THESE PEOPLE!.....
at one time it was my dream to be a executive someday but the reality is different from the fantasy and for a time i was disappointed in myself for not being tough enough or good enough to survive in that jungle but then i realized "what a relief it is not to be in that world!' and that "i'm better then these people!"... so it's all good for me...

stfu with your asperger this, autism that, you re just weak, not handicapped.
Says the bitter christian, is obsessed with being dreary.
Maybe you have aspergers?
I mention it when it's relevant.
So fuck off.

Went out for the high school play, mainly cause four of the hottest girls in the school were in it. I got a major part but not the lead and everything was fine as long as I had the script in front of me but then came dress rehearsal with no script in front of a small audience and I was sweating like a pig and screwed up every line. So what you're saying is, you got stage fright, and you therefore forgot your lines. So people who crave to be the center of attention and love to perform in front of an audience, and who are therefore calm doing so, and therefore have little difficulty memorizing lines, are somehow talented in some "special" way?
Give it a rest.
I did drama class all the way through high school, performed in many productions, and it's only a challenging thing if, like I say, you're not comfortable in front of a group of people and/or self conscious.
Just like anything, there are superior examples of those who act, but as a baseline "talent"? It's a modest one, to be sure.
-
Acting isn't something anyone can do but there sure as hell isn't a shortage of people who can do it.
Even pop stars and rappers who haven't had any previous acting experience can waltz into a movie role and do a respectable job.
The guys who direct the movies, write the scripts, compose the soundtracks etc. are the genuinely "talented" individuals.

What the fuck is a baseline suppose to mean.
Being able to say your lines under pressure is about 0.001 percent of being an actor.
Granted it is mostly an innate ability.
But make no mistake the vast majority of people cannot do it.

You are aware people are already searching for that film at this very moment.
And lol at you not able to do the easiest job in the world.
Have you managed to succeed at anything apart from living off women?

brad cruise is better than tom pitt imo.
-
I prefer to judge by myself than going for mostly useless awards, i agree with Fortress... Both are not that great, but Cruise has more range and can act a bit better... As for movies, The Last Samurai is probably superior than everything Pitt ever did... Just my opinions of course...
There is nothing wrong with judging who you like for yourself. This is just a thought, but unless you are in the business, as in being an actor, producer or director etc. your opinion is just that....kind of like an uneducated guess. Other than if you happen to agree with the masses who support a movie or actor at the box office, your opinion doesn't mean much in the scope of things. Of course, being a big box office draw also does not mean an actor is good at their craft, it just means they are popular.
I get a kick out of the way some of you mention movie titles, such as you did with The Last Samurai, in comparison to another actor's ability. So to example your statement, The Last Samurai could be a superior movie to any that Brad Pitt has been in, but this says absolutely nothing about anyone's acting ability. Sometimes great performances happen in really lousy movies and vice versa.

Just too dumb to realise it.

Sometimes I think people saying al pacino and bobby deniro is just going off their prime movies.. and leaning against popular opinion
Have you seen everything theyve done? Theyve done so much crap lately.
Tom cruise easily has a better track record than those guys. With all due respect

Absolutely, that was just my humble opinion... Regarding The Last Samurai i was comparing quality of movies, not acting, as you said there are shitty movies with great acting from someone... Although TLS, other than being a great movie, Cruise's acting in it is good...
-
Cruise is the biggest and most consistent movie star of all time for quality of movies, it's not even close at this point, only dicaprio could rival him if he keeps up the quality for another 15 years or so.
Clint Eastwood

Cruise is dependable.
When you go watch a Cruise-movie these days you know what you're gonna get.
If you want to see a Sci-fi movie that you know has a great budget played by that same dependable character (that Cruise always plays), Cruise is your choice of actor.
Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible etc same type of character.
Only time Cruise went out of his way to play "someone else" was in Tropic Thunder.
With Cruise, you KNOW what you're gonna get.
With Brad Pitt, you can get anything from Autumn Legends, Joe Black, Fight Club, Troy or whatnot.
He's made lots of bad movies but several good ones too.
Not as consistent as dependable Top Cruise.
-

C'mon, if you were any good you would have pursued it. Or did the thought of making millions and have super models wet themselves over you just not appeal to you?
-
Haha Keanu, might as well add arnold
Look at what movies he has under his belt. Hr was in Dracula even.
Swazye has 1 really good one.. ghost. .
Road house and that surfer movie are debatable :)

Fixed. Wade Garrett's presence alone takes out any debate about Roadhouse.

Or as Calvin H calls it, "Tropical Thunder". Magnolia was a bit outside the norm for him too.
But, I still think Pitt is an overall better actor. Seems to have much more range.

Brad pitt is really just a Dud, he's really not as good as people think he is.
He's ok, but he's nothing amazing.
Granted he has been the best looking man to walk the earth for 20 years now.(all homo).
-
Pitt is a better "actor" in my opinion in terms of his breadth. Cruise basically plays the same guy in most of his films.
oh bull shit.....
-
Both are fine actors equally capable of playing characters different from themselves.
UnPitt Pitt: Twelve Monkeys, Assassination of Jesse James, Burn After Reading, Snatch
NonCruise Cruise: Born on the Fourth of July, Collateral, Tropic Thunder, Magnolia
They should both have at least one Oscar each by now.

Maybe he would rather be a bodybuilder.

A friend runs a shooting range in the San Fernando valley near L.A. He spent an afternoon with Pitt and Angelina going over and using several firearms. He has worked with numerous celebs and said these two are down to earth regular off camera.
Another friend is the guy who does all the jack knife big rig truck tricks in Hollywood. He has worked with Cruise and told me "the little shit is crazy...he does a lot of his own stunts. I even drifted a tanker truck right over him as he ducked down."
So I guess there is a bit of testosterone in these loonie Hollywood types.

Why wouldn't there be? They're humans too, just like Scott Markey, Buck Angel, Woody Allen, Dj181 and the trainer.

Dressing up changing haircuts for each movie and taking sharp turns with scripts and messing with dialects does not equal great "breadth" or "range".
Not saying Cruise is the widest ranged actor either but lets not elevate brad onto a pedestal here.
-
Cruise has greater range than Pitt.
Cruise can carry an entire film. Pitt can't - he depends on "co-stars" and is more often than not the co-star himself rather than the main star. Think of his best films and he's the second character rather the first.
Cruise for the win.

I'd say Cruise has more depth. Therefore you can buy him as a lawyer, a doctor, a thug, blue collar, agent, soldier...
Brad.. you sort of have to give some leeway and lend some sort of "movie acceptance" when he does things like commanding officer in Inglorious or a general manager in baseball
Brad is best suited for Joe Black type roles.. and Fight Club cool guy roles
When I think back at Oceans Eleven, a great movie, I don't remember anything of Brad except him eating a sandwich and walking around and looking good lol
-

Apparently someone else thought so too. He was nominated for best actor in The Last Samurai, for both an Academy award and a Golden Globe, plus two others.
-
William Hurt is no slouch in the acting department.
-
Speaking of Fight Club, Ed Norton's range is great. But I digress..
-
Another one with great range is Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Could Cruise play Joe Black?
Of course....
Now, think of "A Few Good Men"......could Pitt have held his own with Jack Nicholson?
Hell no.....

Every seen the movie Troy?
Painful to watch.....
-
I do think Cruise is the better actor but I can't see Cruise pulling off Pitts role in snatch...
-
??? That's a great film!
Very much agree, but great is standard for Kubrick.
-
DDL is the modern Brando, though, he's in a whole other league.
-
From my point of view it's pretty much a tossup. Both have a pretty good range as far as characters go. Good in drama and action movies. Cruise was great in Tropic Thunder as Les Grossman pulling off a comedic role.
-
Whoever said Pitt is a better actor than Cruise doesn't know much about acting. Tom Cruise all day long in both movies and acting. And I'm a huge Pitt fan also. He's just not on the level as TC.
All you have to do is watch the film "Magnolia". He blew everyone away in that movie and was also nominated for an Oscar. Which he'll win eventually. Probably in his later years like they snubbed Paul Newman for so long.
-
Still waiting for Rain Man 2.

Who makes better movies? I can't think of a single movie Cruise has made that wasn't entertaining, and that's all I want from a movie, but Pitt? Ever try to watch Tree of Life? No homo ;D
Tom Cruise playing Ron Kovic in 'Born on the Fourth of July', top 10 performances ever IMO.
-
Speaking of Fight Club, Ed Norton's range is great. But I digress..
He is an amazing actor who doesn't seem to get enough work.
-
He is an amazing actor who doesn't seem to get enough work.
Because he is stupidly hard to work with, no one wants to hire him.
-
Considering Tom Cruise is basically a midget, the fact that he can be convincing in superhero, macho roles is an acting feat in itself.
Ann Rice, who wrote Interview With a Vampire, was initially pissed that Tom Cruise was chosen to play Lestat, She envisioned someone much more powerful playing that role, she said. Eventually, she endorsed him. Pressure from L. Ron Hubbard could be very persuasive.
Brad Pitt played Louis de Pointe du Lac, who was Lestat's male lover and a very sensitive character for a vampire. Other notables male actors in that movie with Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and Steven Rae. The fact that Tom held his own among all that young talent, says a lot about him.
Steven Rae was amazing in the Crying Game along with Jaye Davidson and Forest Whitaker.
-

Yes, being difficult can ruin a career.

Agreed, he was great as Lestat... I liked Banderas also in that movie...

I'd have to agree. He portrayed himself as an excellent driver convincingly....

For having such a short stature (Tom towered over him) and looking the way he does, Hoffman has great range for an actor (asshole, good guy, captain hook, retard, criminal, journalist, this guy does it all and memorably so)
-
Papper Pappersberg is correct, Hoffman is a great actor with a huge range, can play it all.
-

tom cruise is without a doubt one of the finest actors of our time.......right up there with brando and deniro!!!
very few of his movies have been flops and he has played a wide range of charcters.
-
Yes to latch onto what Willie says here.. it's sometimes hard to appreciate the current crop but Tom will be recognized in the future as one of the greats. Just as Deniro, Brando and those are now.
Competitive since the eighties going on 2010s with a solid track record.
Fun fact. He was the face model for Disney's Aladdin drawn from 1992.
-
joe pecshi always impressed me w the different type of character he could play.
because he's Italian he'll always be cast as a prototypical Italian for roles but his ability to play different types of characters inside of that is awesome. he can make you laugh ( my uncle vinny) or think fuck this guy is crazy (goodfellas).
as for the Pitt / cruise debate- Pitt on his ability to play a seemingly broader range of roles, and cruise for making dependable blockbusters.
as an aside it funny how actors are always thought of as studs when the big nerds in highschool were in drama class.
and cruise never should have cast himself for the role of jack reacher. what makes the character of reacher so gravitational is in part his physical being. anyone whos read the reacher series knows exactly what I mean.
-
From early on cruise has always shown that he could act "all the right moves"
A career going 4 decades (80's, 90, 2000's, 2010's) is phenomenal
-
Tom Cruise was amazing in "the outsiders"
-
Yes, but what about Van Damme?
-
Could Brad Pitt do Les Grossman justice? Nope.
-
Yes, but what about Van Damme?
Van Damme had killer dance moves and split kicks that both Pitt and Cruise would envy
-

These gymnastics take a lot of acting skill. ::)

I'd have to agree. He portrayed himself as an excellent driver convincingly....
;D
-
Could Brad Pitt do Les Grossman justice? Nope.
You are correct.
Brad Pitt is NO Les Grossman.
;D
-
Yes, but what about Van Damme?
Van Damme is a excellent actor.
Curt Sloans torment in the emergency waiting room in Thailand was portrayed beautifully.
Compare him to Chuck Norris and Seagal who despite having us accents cant display emotions at all!
-
I saw Fury yesterday. I was surprised... pretty damn good flick.
-
Yes, but what about Van Damme?
Van Damage cried in two-three movies.
Seagal or Norris could never do that in their movies, not within their range of acting.
