Review looks cool but king looks like a fat greek! i here he's one of the more hard working pros so props to him 4 that. Its the only way he became pro cus he dosent have much top level potential to work with in my opinion. he has my respect as far as hard work goes as but i still say he has a shitty atitude

you're big enough, size is not the issue, what you need to do is concentrate on you're condition, bring your waist down, King looked better when he turned pro and did his first pro show. Some people can put on a ton of weight and look good because of thier genetics-Ronnie. Some people have to work with what they have and not try to force the issue. to simplify,if I was a pro, I'd rather be placing in the top 5 weighing 220, being in shape, than being a hard ass in the gym weighing 290.

Just to clarify, King lives in West New York, NEW JERSEY, which is the Jersey waterfront, directly across the Hudson River from Manhattan. The previously undeveloped area has seen an explosion in development over the past ten years, with many of the waterfront condos and townhomes (no single family homes in this area) priced over a million dollars. That's over a MILLION DOLLARS for a 1300 sf 2BR apartment with direct waterfront views.
Of course, most of the units are not waterfront facing, and there are also a lot of rentals. According to the best available public information, King and Barbara live in a rental building that was converted to condos. The website is hudsonclubnj.com
As you can see, it's a very nice community to live. It's just not New York. Close to New York. Good commute for excellent swimmers.

That doesn't seem to be the case according to stuff that he's said on his website. Everyplace is small in NY/NJ compared to the South or Midwest, unless you're a milionaire. He doesn't give the impression that he's struggling at all.....

i have watched it a few times now,because it is so fast paced..it holds your interest even after multiple viewings

irejistirreddeena: I prefer to have my training partner keep his hands on me from the very first rep because after 20 years of bodybuilding I have learned that it helps me MENTALLY keep moving through the entire movement/set without worring about injuries or unnecessary strain on the joints. If you still think I need spotters, you can come join me here at NYSC where I train and I can show you how strong I really am.. or better yet,how weak you really are.

Okay then. Below are some of my pics. I competed as a bodybuilder for three years winning several NPC shows. I then came to the realization that competitive bodybuilding is a dead-end unhealthy "sport" void of any fulfillment, so I pursued more challenging and rewarding endeavors.
As a result, I have an undergrad from Pepperdine University’s Gradzidio School of business, and a postgraduate marketing degree from Berkley’s Haas School of Business. BTW, I put myself through school while working fulltime. I too have a $700,000 home...in fact two of them, which are investment properties that I rent out. I also have a million dollar home that I live in. I don't have any fancy cars (Audi, Volvo, Land Rover) because I don't feel the need to show anything off. BTW, they are all paid for. I have had a decent career in the health/sports nutrition industry holding senior level positions for some of the leading supplement companies. I now own a small consulting firm that allows me to make a good living doing something I love. Oh yeah, best of all, I get to spend a lot of time with my beautiful wife and daughters. BTW, I’m self made. No money from mommy/daddy or a “rich wife” ::)
You Mr. “King”, think that being a 3rd tier pro is some sort of accomplishment that we should all look at with awe. Quite the contrary. I look at it with pity. You are sacrificing your health for NOTHING! The reason why you get flamed is because of your big mouth and cocky attitude with little to back it up. As I mentioned in another thread, had you been humble from the get go, things might have turned out differently for you.
BTW the pics Ron posted on your interview, actually looked good…much better than the contest pics. Best of luck.

King, don't waste your time with all of these little pretenders. It is very easy for someone to point out the problems of another person's physique. However, the majority of getbig members' problems with their physiques are far worse than yours. Why do you think nobody will post pictures here. Because we are all safe behind our computer screens and all we see is a faint reflection of our true selves in the monitor. I know I will never have anywhere near a pro-caliber physique. I have no problem comparing you to any other pro out there. But these little fucks just like to hate on anyone that is built better than them. You are just adding fuel to the fire.

Okay then. Below are some of my pics. I competed as a bodybuilder for three years winning several NPC shows. I then came to the realization that competitive bodybuilding is a dead-end unhealthy "sport" void of any fulfillment, so I pursued more challenging and rewarding endeavors.
As a result, I have an undergrad from Pepperdine University’s Gradzidio School of business, and a postgraduate marketing degree from Berkley’s Haas School of Business. BTW, I put myself through school while working fulltime. I too have a $700,000 home...in fact two of them, which are investment properties that I rent out. I also have a million dollar home that I live in. I don't have any fancy cars (Audi, Volvo, Land Rover) because I don't feel the need to show anything off. BTW, they are all paid for. I have had a decent career in the health/sports nutrition industry holding senior level positions for some of the leading supplement companies. I now own a small consulting firm that allows me to make a good living doing something I love. Oh yeah, best of all, I get to spend a lot of time with my beautiful wife and daughters. BTW, I’m self made. No money from mommy/daddy or a “rich wife” ::)
You Mr. “King”, think that being a 3rd tier pro is some sort of accomplishment that we should all look at with awe. Quite the contrary. I look at it with pity. You are sacrificing your health for NOTHING! The reason why you get flamed is because of your big mouth and cocky attitude with little to back it up. As I mentioned in another thread, had you been humble from the get go, things might have turned out differently for you.
BTW the pics Ron posted on your interview, actually looked good…much better than the contest pics. Best of luck.

I'm happy that you are educated, so am I, I graduated from George Mason University with a BS in Kinesiology and a minor in English ;) I too put myself through school by personal training from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day of the week while pulling a full time in college and getting ready for the NPC National's and having to deal with a family that wa not very supportive of my bodybuilding career and not to mention all the supplements that was required to reach the top.
I'm happy to hear that you are investing in real estate, so are Barbara and I, we have 3 homes in El Paso and currenlty looking into opening a Spa here in New York and if you do a little research on New City, NY you will see that a $700,000.00 home here is just about $1,500,000.00 any where else in the country ;) I don't think purchasing a Hummer and custimizing it and also owning a Benz is showing off... I like the finer things in life and if I can afford it then it's mine ??? I am one of the few bodybuilders in the world that is living a great life doing what I love... Not quite sure where you were going with that one?!? And I spend ALL of my time with my beautiful Barbara who, is probobly the most amazing, talented, beautiful woman I have ever metin my life.
My Mother and father are independent of my financial well being and their success inllife bears no effect on mine... Meaning, I pay all my bills buddy ;) :-* You can say I am a third tier pro, that's your opinion and that's fine, but then again I have been top 5 in almost every top professional show in the world, HUUMMMMMM! I'll take that any day ofthe week.... And here is a thought, I'm only 34 and have a long career ahead of me, you just might be surprised. 8) You look at me with pity, but, you tried to become me and failed... What does that say about you? Your dream was to become a professional in the IFBB and I am living that dream.. BIG BIG difference.

But your logic is very flawed. By your logic we can't criticise the way Shaq plays because we have never been a starting center in the NBA or complain about what our president is doing because, we have never held public office.

As for comparing our health... ::) I hike regularly as well as run marathons. You are juiced to the gills and balloon up/down in weight like a fat chick on a diet. I don't care what your blood work says, you are jeopardizing your health. Of course, in a few years when the health problems come out, you'll probably blame it on that nasty Advil ::)
Not trying to "own" you or anything. Just letting you know we are not all pencil-neck ass kissing geeks.

Not only is is English reddled with errors, but his Spanish is as well - As in King "Livin Lavita Loca" Kamali signature will attest. Just for the record, it's Livin' la vida loca - the wild life (litteally it is "crazy life" but the idiom translates to "wild"). Is that what he means when he says his $700,000 house in upstate NY would be worth $1.5 mill anywhere else? Sounds like a great deal!

I think if King were a bit more humble more of us would like him, but that phony hardcore, tough guy, attitude equates to something that makes you just turn the other way and wretch. Obviously, King is desperately trying to prove something. It's too bad he's doing it here. At least if he actually did graduate from George Mason - a very good school, by the way - and persued some kind of career objctive befitting the education he actually doesn't have, and persued bodybuilding as a hobby, he'd be much better off and much more respected.

I remember he would brag about his offseason weight, or predict that he would bulk up and add some ridiculous number of pounds. He wasn't in the same league with the top guys like Cutler and Coleman, yet he was trying to play their size game to the letter. Unfortunately, the weight he was putting on, though comparable on the scale, was not quality muscle whatsoever.
My first FLEX featured the 2001 Olympia coverage.

New York City has one of the most expensive real-estate markets in the country, so I think he meant to convey that a 1.5million dollar home in his neighborhood would go for 700,000 in an average real-estate market. In that case, his initial figure was adjusted for the regional inflation.

Worst case scenario: they are banned and simply come back with a different account.
Especially the bandwagon taunting. Very effective on the internet and virtually impossible to counter without equal numbers. Yet, in reality, it would be a f*cking joke. Imagine a gang of 4-5 kids baselessly criticizing King Kamali about his physique to his face? In front of all the members and staff of Gold's Gym Venice? A great example of this is a typical Derek Anthony PM. The bitch can't spell for shit and argues like a 3 year old with ADD. This of course will make for some great threads and a hearty laugh for all. I say, post PM's with some discretion but let the tools be exposed!

Nevermind, the bottom line is king had a great physique when he first hit the scene....he looked F*&king awesome in 2001.
Whatever he changed since then, he needs to correct.

The guys there were cool as long as they respected something about you.
The first month I trained there it was hell .
There was 9 of us to start with and that got whittled down to 2 .
The other 7 made their excuses but I know it was the atmosphere they hated. My favourite excuse came from my mate Chris ( hope you have tuned in like you said you would ) - I don't want to get too musclebound .
The ice was finally broken for the remaining two of us when I tough guy from my old school came down to the gym one weekend. He introduced me and told them a story about how I beat up this so-called tough guy (who had slashed my mates face for talking to his girlfriend) when I was only 15. After that we were accepted and gained many new and life-long mates.
Not that fighting was paramount but the basic requirement was that you could handle yourself if need be . That was your passport in. Whether you were accepted as a friend was determinded by the usual sort of things like honour , honesty and a good sense of humour .

King definately brings life to the show. I'm a fan and as long as he keeps giving his best, thats all that matters to me. I was a bit disappointed at his physically knocking Horvath in the pose downs, cos I think King is better than that, but for the rest King is a big part of why I love BB so much. Larger than life, says a lot of tough things, but the fans say he's friendly and gives them the time of day when they ask for autographs and want to chat at the shows. What more could we ask for?
The haters are looking way stupid right about now. Even if you piss the BB's off and make them say shit, at the end of the day they are still IFBB pros, are in the shows, mags and are living the BB life.
You just talk about it. They are LIVING it. The truth is there for those who want to see it.

I really don't as it is a very modest house for the neighbohood I live in. In fact, it is at the bottom end of the price range in my zip. My point was that If King is making sooooo much money, and his wife is making sooooo much money, shouldn't they be able to afford more than a $700,000 house? We have a single income (my wife stays home) and have a home worth almost 2x what King's is worth. Sarcasm is right. Perhaps Kamali prefers to have a small condo so that he can spend his money on "the finer things" like supped up Hummers.
I would like to somtime in the next five years sell my properties and buy a really cool house in front of the water somewhere in CA. If this ever happens, rest assured I'll be braging about that home ;D

That's exactly it though - you have goal-oriented focus......240 and I have talked about this briefly........the "millionaires next door" are savvy businessmen, but moreso they recognize what's really important. It's not that they don't like material possessions....we all do.....but financially they have impeccable timing, strategic goals/budgets, are business owners, majority have some formal education, are all relatively saavy investors and they don't throw away cash in cars, jewelry and shit like that. Just modest homes, vehicles, modest professional clothing, take care of their bodies, have a ton of investment income coming in that virtually covers their monthly living expenses, etc.....just highly disciplined folks in virtually every facet of their life. Just have a good common sense approach in general, live in their means, are prepared for the future and the unexpected, etc........I'm tryin hard to adopt a lifestyle like this.

Excellent question! The bodybuilding lifestyle is not only as depicted and lived by clowns like Kamali. There are others who found a balance and have done well as a result. Arnold is the obvious example, but guys like Lee Haney and Lee Labrada also come to mind.
For those of you who think about big muscle all day and you are consumed by it, ask yourself this: do you do it because simply piling on muscle and striving toward physical perfection brings you genuine fulfillment? Or, do you do it because you think that if you reach a level of physical development on par with an IFBB pro, you will then be able to have “the lifestyle”?
If it’s the former, then congratulations! You have found your calling in life and you should pursue it with everything you’ve got.
If it’s the latter, then I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but that “lifestyle” is a complete myth. You are not going have a MTV cribs-like house; you’re not going to have killer ride, or bling bling or fame/fortune or whatever else you think comes from having gross amounts of overdeveloped muscle. Instead, you’ll have a damaged liver, past due payments on your leased Hummer, a shoebox apartment and an inbox full of customer orders for your soiled posing trunks. Don’t say you weren’t warned :-\
