I've gotten more than my share of emails asking for advices on gear, stacks, etc...anything but training.

"Back in my day" (God I hate having to use that..!)...it wasn't even considered until the "old guys" at the gym thought you built enough naturally to sustain...

If you cant get past the local level naturally...it aint happening.

Yeah.. it seems that most of the bbers who compete very young disappear/burn out/get injured early, and the guys who make it in the sport start competing later. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at the 93 teen nationals (I think it was the only time ever that Branch Warren beat Jay), but most of the winners of the teen and collegiate nats disappear never to be heard from again. The only exceptions I can think of who seem to be headed to great things in the sport are Steve Kuclo and Trey Brewer.

Contrast that with guys like Evan Centopani and Phil Heath... If I am not mistaken, Heath took up bbing after college and was pro at 25.

I don't have the genetic/structure to ever be a top contender even at the canadian nationals but it doesn't mean I should stop training/competing because I can't be a pro

Good post, but this isn't true.  You do need to eat to gain muscle while on drugs, but you do not need to train.  In fact, you could cut the intensity down to next to nothing and still gain like crazy if you take enough drugs and eat.  A lot of pro DVDs and some scientific literature confirms this.

You just contradicted yourself with that statement. I understand that taking drugs without training can build small amounts of lean muscle mass (hints AIDS and cancer patients) but not enough to make a visual difference.

I hear you when you say it's more than just drugs. I'm saying if I would have ( it's a little late in the game ) done the whole thing 100% as far as drugs,diet,training That I have to the genetics to obtain a pro caliber physique. I have actually been told that by a few IFBB pros, not that that means anything,but it was cool to hear.
