I hit 10 sets of 10 at 225-255 to finish my squat routine after 4 heavy sets about once a month.  You will hardly be able to walk 2 days later if you finish it off with a solid routine afterwards (extensions, lunges, curls, etc.).
Give me 4to5 minutes between sets i could do 10 sets of 225 for 10 reps, i already do 5 sets of squats with 8,10,12,15,20reps with long breaks inbetween with 225.

You have a point, but how long does he rest between sets.
When i finish bulking i want to hit 400 pound single for bench,squat,and maybe go higher for deadlift natural thats my only goal at the moment none of this supersetting bullshit.

You think that's a great accomplishment, hitting 225-255 for 10 sets of 10 after already going heavy?  If you are in decent shape, that's FAR from impossible or even worth turning your head towards.

I don't get some of you people.  You guys are either in terrible shape or don't workout at all if you are that awed by that.

I was not doubting you just curios how long did you rest between sets,as simple as that.

I'm a guy who takes lifting seriously but also likes to be in good shape.  You've gotta be in at least decent shape to pull that off.  Guys like Squadfather (after seeing his pics...they are absolutely hideous) can't comprehend how someone could do that because they are in horrible physical condition.

This is funny stuff.  "A moderator on the training forum...".   Yeah, that there is a VERY impressive credential  ::)

The initial question was an interesting one and Poliquin has some good approaches and no little success with his athletes. I notice those who disparage the guy who asked the question have no real idea about the 10 x 10 GVT type training so their only recourse is to belittle the question and questioner.  Some of you guys would be better off shot - or perhaps raped.

'The Poliquin Principles' is one of the reasons why this industry has never been taken seriously!  More mumbo jumbo.. It is a failed concept.  It has no scientific basis, and just for the record, no one has ever got anywhere using this methodology!

Pro Bodybuilding is the most reviled and despised pageant on the planet and Poliquin is not helping improve its cause!

Training ain't so important..

Just make sure it's heavy and your legs are sore the next day. Being natural, there's not much you can do expect do heavy compound movements.. It ain't so fucking complicated.  ::)

All these elaborate training ideas wont get you ahead of someone following the norm.

6-7 sets of squats, with legpresses 5-6 sets, stiff leg deads, leg curls and salf raises is my stuff.. It's simple and it works. I bet you most pros do the same shit. Don't buy that magazine garbage.

I don't do it all the time but it sure is harder for me than squatting a ton for a few reps and then sitting around for 5 minutes.

But all these people come up with elaborate super setting combos.. It all just boils down to being able to hit the muscles from many angles. You can do that with any style, but people don't realize that. They go from routine to routine not realizing that they're not doing their best with their current prefered method.. Everything can work, you just gotta make it happen.

I agree totally. I think it's less about the workout than it is about the actual work.

But I think it is easier to loaf around by sleepwalking through the same low rep/high weight workout all the time. A high rep squat routine at full tilt every now and then will make you feel pain like none other.

very true, if ur doing 10 sets of 10 with a very slow tempo, the weight isnt goin to be too high. For all u getbig MONSTERS!

german volume training can work well as a training routine used for short periods of time. you should probably use a weight you can do 20 reps with or so. (but only do 10reps for 10
sets)

first few sets will feel easy..but last few sets should be hard. specially if you keep you rest times between sets constant (as you should)

only one exercise per body part (in general) is more than enough.

as been mentioned gironda had his 8x8 system.

another system is 6x6.

its just one of many routines. nothing magic about it. but can work really well..if you do it properly. (specially for legs and calves)

no the weight (and rest between sets) should be constant when using german volume training. thats the whole point of the system.
