Dorian used machines. How is doing leg press and hack squats possibly training harder then a guy doing front squats with 585[by the way,he drops it on the floor, that would seem like going to failure]and 800 pound squats? How is doing machine pullovers harder then t-bar rowing 12 plates?Ever see Dorians PATHETIC excuse for deadlifts. Those ARE NOT deadlifts.Dorian did easy movements, fairly light, yelled and screamed for no reason, and had a goof screaming in his ear.Ronnie just pounds heavy ass weights with basic movements. Not close. It takes A LOT more effort and intensity to bench 500 for reps and then do inclines with 405X10,then it does doing just inclines with 425 and getting help. Not close,Ronnie kills him in everyway.

By the way,Ronnies 800X2 deadlift is to failure,he couldnt have completed another rep.Dorian gets help on EVERY single movement,Ronnie stops when he cant get more by himself, thats called going to failure.Dorian just goes with another guy helping.

but thats not ronnies regular routine so it doesnt count. i already responded to this earlier in this thread. dont post unless you got something new to add.

so far dorian wins.

and it doesnt look like anyone is able to change that.

Yeah, because YOU say so.A guy that uses machines and takes the easy way out, trains harder then a guy who uses free weights.Anyone on here, who actually lifts weights, would giggle at the idea that machines are even being compared to free weights. However, there is one thing that cant be argued,Ronnie was bigger, more muscular and won more Olympias, and thus was clearly the harder trainer.NO ONE CAN ARGUE THAT.

but being bigger, more muscular and winning more olympias doesnt mean he trained harder. if so lee haney would have trained harder than schwarzenegger, did he? and jay cutler training harder than ronnie, is he?

you fail.

Jay Cutler is NOT BIGGER,MORE MUSCULAR or has he won more Olympias then Ronnie. In fact,if you compare both at their peaks ,its clear that Jay uses light weights and pumps and Ronnie lifts heavy.I dint know if Lee Haney trained harder then Arnold or not,I haven't seen any videos of them,I have seen Ronnie's video and Dorians video and there is no comparison there.

yes there's no comparison there - dorian trains harder.

to illustrate that ronnie trains harder you give the examples of his 2 rep deadlifts - but since they are not typical for his workout we know that he trains MUCH lighter MOST of the time. which means he DOES NOT push himself as hard as he can.

dorian however is, and does. ALL THE TIME!

conclusion: dorian trains harder.

dorian wins.

you still here? you still think that someone trains harder because they move a heavier weight? you that stupid after all those years in the gym? that level of stupidity is mindblowing.

it's not like a race where there is a clear cut winner, you can't say this guy trained harder than that guy cause they're both training as hard as they and using the techniques that got results for them, dorian used some machines cause those work better for some of the concepts he used when he was training, ronnie did alot of powerlifting type movements cause those worked best for him.  I'm sure they both put forth 100% effort when they had to.

No, he doesn't!!! Dorian, by his own admission, didn't train that hard all the time. Otherwise, he'd have even MORE injuries than he currently does.

And, lost in all of this is, yet again, he is a bodybuilder. Once he stepped onstage, NOBODY CARED how hard he allegedly trained. The only thing that counted was the finished product.....HIS PHYSIQUE.

Dorian trained the hardest.

How is it you fools think the one who lifts the most, trains the hardest?

Let's say there's two guys in the gym

One is benching 200 pounds.

The other is benching 300 pounds.

The first guy is struggling like a motherfuckre getting that 200 pounds up. Where as it comes easy for the second guy. Maybe the second guy need to move up to 400 pounds to struggle as much as the first guy.

PLEASE!!!

The guy struggling with 200 lbs, as you described, is likely using lousy form, bouncing the weight off his chest, and trying to hump the bar up (the roof of the gym will smoke a cigarette, afterwards).

Whereas, the other guy is using decent form and actually working his chest, with the 300 lbs. End result: the guy using 300 lb. will have a well-developed chest, while Mr. "Hard worker" will have no chest, cracked ribs, and a bruised ego.

why is that likely?

and its not about the end result.

Of cource Ronnie didnt work up to 800X2 every workout. In fact,on the tape,he says its the first time he ever did it.However,he certainly did work up to the high 600s and low 700s and did reps with that.Dorian,in his tape works up to 500 and doesnt even deadlift,we call what he did "DIMEL DEADLIFTS" but THEY ARE NOT DEADLIFTS.Ronnie does his bent rows as BENT ROWS.Dorian darn near stands straight up and down.Dorian uses machines,to make it easy,Ronnie uses free weights.

Heres the bottom line,Ronnie uses more weight, more reps, more workouts, more sets and its obvious more intensity because lifting heavy takes intensity. If Ronnie used Dorians weights,he would have to do 50 reps a set.Dorian needs a guy to hand him 100 pound dumbells,Ronnie flips up 200 pounders and knocks out 12 reps.Everthing Ronnie did was heavier, harder, and much more hardcore.By the way,no squats for Dorian? That IS NOT intense.

Sounds like the voice of reason. At last. The rest is just fans of one or the other trying to rationalize what's merely a matter of taste. Not unlike an argument between Whitney Houston fans and Mariah Carey's.

Why do you think Dorian Yates started training like that? It wasn’t just for the sake of training nor was it so that people could pat him on the head and tell him how “hardcore” he is. Dorian did so for one reason: IMPROVING HIS PHYSIQUE (i.e. muscular growth and development).

Had Dorian NOT increased his muscle mass by training in such fashion, he wouldn’t have continued in that path. He would have done something else. You’re the one that doesn’t get it. It IS about the end result, because he is a bodybuilder.

Your position that Dorian Yates somehow deserves to be placed on special pedestal, simply because he “trained the hardest” is utterly ridiculous. And, as stated earlier, Dorian DID NOT train in such fashion all the time, as doing so would have hampered his ability to recover and grow (as well as injure him even further).

He's no better or worse than Coleman, Schwarzenegger, Haney, or any other Mr. Olympia. He simply was different. He found a style of training that, overall, was most beneficial for him with regards to building mass, the name of the game when it comes to.....BODYBUILDING!!!

Dorian uses machines,to make it easy,Ronnie uses free weights.

Dorian uses plenty of free weights in a lot of movements.

[/quote]

If Dorian lifts at 100% of his capacity.
And Ronnie lifts at 80% of his capacity.
Dorian trains harder.

And we both know Ronnie DID NOT lift at his maximum.

here we go, since you seem to be the real mr magoo of getbig:

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT WHO TRAINED THE HARDEST - DORIAN YATES OR RONNIE COLEMAN, NOT WHY THEY TRAINED THE WAY THEY DID, NOT WHO WON THE MOST SANDOWS, NOT ABOUT THEIR PREFERED CLOTHES IN THE GYM, NOT ABOUT THEIR HAIRCOLOR ETC
ONLY ONE THING - WHO TRAINED THE HARDEST. PERIOD.

HOPE THIS HELPS.
