lol you've fallen for the trap.

I'm always looking for older reliable cars namely Mercedes and BMW's. I'm not interested in American autos. If you can have a nice older car and have a new one that is great. If that is all someone can afford instead of riding a bus, who cares?

Last thing you want to do is drive a car worth 75k to work when your employees are making half of that.

I'm guessing the OP means workers when he says "business people", not owners.

Why would you buy a 60K or such car to run into the ground on the daily commute grind?

Run the miles on the 2nd rate vehicles, keep the nice ride for the weekend.

Everyone is different.  My family's always had sick cars, but i know a lot that are in the same league and drive regular cars.

I had a friend that drove his old beat-up truck into a dealership and was looking at the BMWs.  A saleman asked him "Shouldn't you be in the used car lot?" and laughed at my friend.

My friend got another salesman and bought a BMW and a new truck.

Never ceases to amaze me how people 'define' their life and success on the car they drive.  As if having a BMW makes your life longer or better than driving a Honda or Toyota.  Another sad person hoping to fill the void with consumer goods.

Spending huge amounts on or leasing a fancy car is stupid unless you make like 150 k a year

Business people should spend on clothes, but I don't think a fancy car is needed. Nothing shameful about a late 90's Nissan at all  ;D

Not really.  My sis would go to a thift shop when she was making $60K yrly.  This other lady showed up every week to shop in a Range HSE Sport.  They were getting designer s##t off of the rack for like $10.

My mom back in the early 80's had just bought a new Mercedes 450 SLC which at the time was THE car to have for a status symbol (at least in LA).  The very first day she took it to work, when she left someone painted on the windshield.  'You Fuckin Bitch"  She had to ride home the whole way with that.  I remember her crying and my dad going out and cleaning it.  I thought it was funny how someone knew just from the car she was a bitch.  I thought you had to live with her to know that.  But, anyhow she ended up buying another car and driving that to work and the Benz was put in the garage at our cabin.  My dad later sold it to help pay for her medical bills.  Back then driving a nice car was the thing to do if you were successful.  Nowadays it isn't as important but having toys and other nice things is.  A successful person might drive a so-so car to work but at home they will have a nice car to go out in.

Have you ever thought about the fact that some they just dont care what they drive?
Like sammi the blacksmith he does not care about cars at all.
Just as some people they  dont care if they are fat.

Wear a suit and tie to work does not mean you get paid a good salary, they can be
wearing a second hand out of fashion suit with a huge family to feed

Take a closer look at his watch, shoes, the quality of the suit, bodylanguage, calculate if he is a poser/scammer
and then pass judgement about his car.

Personally I feel driving a nice car enhances the quality of life, same as staying in shape.

And I think: wearing a tie and suit= slave

Exactly, a lot of super rich guys drive old pick up trucks.  I think the founder of walmart Sam Wal drove an old beater truck until the day he died.

A good salary perk if your mgr in car buisness is a demo either free,or u pay the tax and or insurance, the dealer i work for gives a good deal at lest tissue cost or below on leases so it saves u about 100 to 200 per month so if u drive a 328 bmw it would cost sat 350 and basically zero down as a customer it would be 500 or so a month with a few g's out of pocket.

camel jockey:

even 150k a year does not justify driving a "nice" car.

here's what i think a nice income breakup is:

housing/food/living expenses: 40%
car: 25%
savings/investments/retirement: 20%
vacations, toys, blow off money: 15%

i might even go with vacations, etc at 10 percent with an extra 5 going to savings, etc.
