Didn't GWB go to Yale and Harvard?

How's that working out?

It didn't exactly hurt his job prospects

I didn't say it made one qualified but the reality is that a MBA from a Ivy League school is worth more $$$ on the job market.  That why people pay big $$$ to go there

I agree with you about that.

I'm just pointing out that it doesn't make the person any more qualified.

I personally don't care that Obama went to college. It's his politics that I don't like.

I've worked with a lot of damn good officers from the Naval Academy and hold it it high regard but I still think McCain is a big disappointment.

Is your MBA worth less because it didn't come from an Ivy League school? I bet you'd want to punch anyone in the neck that looked down their nose at you because of something as lame as that.

My business school was accredited - it's in the top 25% of national B-schools.  But I readily admit it's a piece of crap in terms of one from a top Business school.  I knew if I wanted to ru a F5oo company, i'd need to attend a top school.  If I wanted to work form home and learn to run a business and secure opportunities leading to sustainable competitive advantages and earn under 100k but have a good life, then a smaller B school was good for me.

I think Obama's backround suggests that he is not fit to be president.  A political organizer most of his career is just not the right experience.  Too much socialistic past and he is also too far left in his party.

I also agree that Palin has less than desirable experience...but she has done a very good job as Gov for the past 2 yrs and has an over 80% approval rating.  A gov is much different than a senator and much better experience for the white house.  I'll be watching to hear more of her.  She is an exciting pick...however, Romney would have been my first choice.

Great to see the republican party nominate a strong woman though...about time.  I also like that she is an outsider.  Its not always better to have so many years in Washington, particularly when that person gets used to federal politics as usual.  I think both tickets are now balanced well with youth & experience...but I'd rather see the more experienced person be president in most cases.

I thought it would be Romney, too. But, the first thing people would have jumped on is his being a Mormon.

It has more to do with the association of Mormonism with polygamy. Although I heard a joke on the "Beltway Boys", when the GOP primaries had just started. They found it ironic that, of all the candidates running for president, the only one who's had just one wife was the Mormon guy (Romney).

Agree, I thought Romney was head and shoulders above the rest and would be a good pick. Some people's obsession with religion, race and gender instead of simply choosing the best for the job over the years is really so daft.

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:
Obama holds assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs, and he is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

-------------------------

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In August 2005, he traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks.<61>

Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories.

He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya.

Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D–WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act", which was signed into law in September 2007.

He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections.

Obama also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act", a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008.<68>

Later in 2007, Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for a review by the Government Accountability Office following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs.

joined Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in introducing legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism.A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries. After passing both houses of Congress with bipartisan majorities, SCHIP was vetoed by President Bush in early October 2007, a move Obama said "shows a callousness of priorities that is offensive to the ideals we hold as Americans."

A political organizer most of his career is just not the right experience.

I'm not sure you have good info here.
OBAMA: 8 years as a state senator, and 3.5 years in the US Senate.  1997 thru present, total.

PALIN: 18 months as governor.  Before that, several years as part-time mayor of a town of 9000.

Wow. How elitist is that?

Do you think it really matters where they go to college? Is your MBA worth less because it didn't come from an Ivy League school? I bet you'd want to punch anyone in the neck that looked down their nose at you because of something as lame as that.

It's simple: Do they or do they not have the stones, wisdom, and leadership skills to lead the free world?

Definitely elitist.

I think 7+ homes and a net worth of $100+ million makes you potentially "elitist", but that's just me.  ::)
McCain should have never started that bullshit charge in the first place.

No that makes a person rich.

Saying "I'm more qualified and know what's best for you because I went to school at xyz college" is elitist.

46 of 50 states have part-time legislatures. Only New York, California, Pennsylvania, and Michigan have "standing" legislatures.

he got paid about 65,000 a year plus benefits, not bad for part time....he taught and did his other "community organizing" as well. It would appear that many people associated with him benefited from his part time work. Its amazing how a guy from the most corrupt political machine in the most corrupt state, gets not grief associated from it.

Yes, it's elitist to compare college degrees in determining the value of an education.

Spoken like a person without a college degree, BB ;)
