FYI, downs syndrome is extremely uncommon to a very young female mother.  Could it be that Palin stayed in good shape during the pregnancy...this woman is unbelievable if this story is BS.  We need to come down hard on the democratic originators of this story if false.  Pathetic politics to attack the family like this.  Most women will be pissed.

An older mother is much more likely to give birth to a child with Downs. Over 40, the rate of downs or other birth defects increases dramatically. It's very, very low for teenage mothers. Genetics 101 shit. Seems to be oddly missing from most of the talks.

My understanding is that this has been a question in people's minds up in Alaska long before Palin was on the radar and was being asked by both Democrats and Republicans alike. Only now that she has been selected as a running mate are many Republicans have set aside their own desire to clear up any question concerning the child's parentage and are decrying the story or the interest they themselves had in it.
