I'm currently living and working out in Shenzhen, China. The fitness industry is still very new to the Chinese and, considering the sheer number of people here, hasn't yet caught on in a huge way. However, the gym I go to is super crowded on weekday evenings.
There is one smith machine and every dumbass who comes there has to military press or bench press on it, so I never get to use it during these times. It really sucks ass because there is no way for me to work my calves except on that machine. (Not with any real weight, anyway.)
The gym isn't in all that great a shape, but of course it's better than nothing. I only paid $140 US for an entire year, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. It's also kind of cool that it sits about 6 stories up, on top of a department store, so it's an original view for a gym.
