I think, once a week is the best suggestion on washing your bed sheets. Changing new bed sheet calls a day for me! I'd love to stay in my room and sleep after the stressful time I've got in the office!

Washing soda, Tide original, extra rinse, finally hung on a clothesline not a dryer...premium linen laundry procedure.

I wash them once a week when I do the laundry, but I change them every day in the summer or every other day.

When you sleep, you lose up to a litre and a half of water through perspiration.

Quick Cures/Quack Cures: When to Clean the Sheets
By Beth DeCarbo

No matter your relationship status, you never go to bed alone. Nestled within your sheets are countless intruders. For an explanation, we turned to Philip M. Tierno Jr., director of clinical microbiology and immunology at New York University's Langone Medical Center.

How often do most Americans change their sheets?
It varies. Most people have a standard of once a week. But many people go three weeks, a month or more. "Younger people seem to leave their sheets on the bed longer," Dr. Tierno says.

How often should they change their sheets?
Wash sheets and pillowcases once a week, and you'll eliminate that debris that has accumulated in the bed for that week. You'll be safer from breathing in that material.

Debris? How can sheets possibly get that dirty?
Human skin cells become food for dust mites. That is one of the biggest problems associated with bedding. Mites accumulate, along with their feces. But there is also animal hair, dander, fungal mold, fungal spores, bodily secretions and bacteria. Also: dust, lint, fibers, particulates, insect parts, pollen, soil, sand and cosmetics. "One person can perspire as much as a liter in a night—even more if you have a lot of covers," he says. And, of course, people eat in bed as they watch TV.

All this stuff is yucky, but is it a health risk?
It is mainly a threat to respiratory tracts and not an infectious source. If you have allergies or asthma, this matter can exacerbate it. If you don't have an allergy, you could develop one because you're constantly challenged.

Is there an ideal way to wash bedding?
The water should be 130 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, typically the washing machine's hot-water cycle. Then dry using a hot drying cycle. That is germicidal; it actually kills and destroys a lot of vegetative material. It also kills the dust mites. For extra protection, "bleach is excellent. It is probably the cheapest germicide and can be used in a low concentration." Cold water non-bleach bleaches use peroxide, so they're also germicidal.

Once a week, hot water. Then I'm safe?
No. To protect the mattress, I use an impervious outer cover. If you look at a mattress, it collects debris by gravity. All kinds of things collect on it that are absorbed into its core. Without the impervious cover, your mattress is a "zoological and botanical garden," he says. The outer covers are made of pliable, plastic vinyl and are commonly used by people with asthma and allergy symptoms. The covers should also go on pillowcases. "If you put an impervious outer cover over the mattress and mattress pad, your mattress won't harm you."

My two dogs sleep on the bed with me at night. In fact, the little dog burrows under the covers to keep warm. Fortunately, she is short haired. Obviously the dogs don't shower every night before going to bed and neither do I. Actually, I prefer showering in the mornings. Although the sheets appear clean all of the time, just too keep things sanitary I wash my sheets never less than once per week which seem fine. I prefer white sheets so that I can also bleach them when I wash them.

In reading the posts, it would seem BayGBM sends his sheets out to the laundry or has a maid who washes them. The only thing I envy about his doing this is that his sheets are probably pressed as well which make them really nice feeling the first time you get in bed after they are washed and ironed. Otherwise, I would say to each his own. There are other areas where I prefer to spend money.

If clotheslines are allowed in your neighborhood...hang them out...you will be astounded at how good they will feel and smell...also hanging them out is germicidal.

Seems a bit obsessive to me.

I used to shower at least once a day. Lately I have been showering twice or three times a week and it seems fine. I don't smell.

There are people who clean "germs" off everything they touch; like this lady at the gym who sanitizes every piece of equipment both before and after she uses it. Before I retired, I worked in an elementary school. I washed my hands frequently because one never knows what is on whatever you touch. Aside from that though, I took no special precautions. I almost never get sick.

my opinion is that u shower before bed and u are very clean...so your sheets do not get dirty

i feel u should only wash ya sheets every now and then...like once a month...

i know some who wash their sheets every week? is that overkill? or no?

your opinions
Every 2-3 months Gene so you dont spend alot laundry detergent.

I dreamed last night I went to a hotel and my room had bedbugs.  They didn't have another room so they put us in an apartment in a warehouse.
Last year I was in a hotel in Maputo Mozambique.
Every morning there was blood on my sheets but I reconned it was just the mozzies eating me.
Till one morning at about 2 I felt something on my leg, switched on the light and it was bed bugs!!!!!!
I could not sleep after that, the hotel did not know what to do so I sprayed the room myself.
I also had little beetles eating my clothes in the night  >:(

In the Netherlands I had blood on my sheet from the previous ocupant and I had to blow my nut to get the hotel to swop the sheets.
They told me they only swop every 3 days, eventually the lady at reception swopped it herself for me  ::)

These stories might inspire some to buy an RV for travel.

Fortunately, when my wife and I have traveled we've had good experiences with hotels so far. However, we also have family and friends around the world so we often stay at their homes rather than a hotel or motel. One hotel room we stayed in, in the Latin quarter in Paris was really old....built long before there was indoor plumping. One small corner of the room was a walled off bathroom. It was so small you could sit on the toilet, wash your hands and take a shower all at the same time. The room and the sheets were clean though. We stayed at a hotel in Limoges, France which was ac cross the park from the train station. During the day the park was very family oriented. However, after dark the park seemed to be where all the male and female street walkers worked. I figure this out when I went out for a walk in the park only to discover that there was a lot of sex happening in the bushes. It seemed pretty funny to me.

I went to Australia once Sydney, it was like that at the hotel I stayed at. They got a spider there in Australia cant remember the name of it but it sits under the toilet seat if it bites you I hear you could die from so everytime I shit I took a look under the seat.

If you don't wash your sheets every week, I'm very curious as to the type of woman that would be willing to have sex with you.

WASH YOUR SHEETS, YOU DISGUSTING ANIMALS!

No I have not ..... yet
But I have stayed in a lot of dodgy hotels
This one below is in the Ashanti Province in Ghana west AFrica
It looks better inside but it was still a chanllenge to stay at for a few weeks

In Tanzania i had hissing roaches in my flat that would "scream"when you try and kill them
As they only came out in the morning I just left them, it was to traumatic to kill them  ;D

I wait until there are large meandering yellow stains....stains that look like the permanently-yellow-greened armpits of my favorite white t-shirts.  The border of the sheets amazingly stay white, though.  I tried to wash the piss-stained striped mattress with crusted, flaky cum puddles etched onto it, but I just can't get it clean.....nor get the smell of old corn chips out of it.

I just think its a waste of time to clean the sheets.  The very few times I put clean sheets atop the mattress, it just ended up smelling like feet, farts, and chili the very next day.  When I do bring some badass babe from the club, we fuck on my air mattress though...a lot easier to keep clean...and I get a tad embarrassed by whats in my bedroom (though if I come to know her I'll let her in)

You might want to talk to a therapist about this. Even in hot and humid climates, people just don't get dirty enough to require this obsessive amount of showering. You are washing away essential oils that protect your skin. Did you know that your skin is the largest organ on your body?

If I could justify the expense, I would send my sheets out too. However, clean sheets are clean sheets, whether you wash them at home or send them to the laundry. When you think about it, it actually take less effort to strip your own bed, wash and dry your sheets and make the bed then it does to take them to the laundry and go back an pick them up days later. Of course if you have help that does all this for you, then I guess it isn't such a big deal. Me, I can think of other ways to spend my money.

At 3:00 p.m. today, I stripped my bed and washed my sheets. I moved them to the dryer about an hour later. When they were dry and smelling fresh, I made the bed. Not such a huge effort. And now that I am thinking of those clean sheets, it is time to log off and go to bed.

Obsessive? I don't think so. I live in Florida, it's hot here year round. A shower upon waking and a shower once home from work is quite normal. I know that ones skin is the largest organ on the body. Do you shit twice a week? I hope not, but if you shit daily don't you think its a good idea to shower for that reason alone. TP only does so much. Don't you workout? You're telling me that you get into bed at night after working out and not showering. That is nasty.
