we're only 9 months into the Obama administration.  It would be premature to judge his presidency now.

We know that the DOW is up quite a bit since he took office.  We know that we haven't been attacked on our soil in nearly 10 months, a feat that neither Clinton nor bush were able to accomplish.  We know Obama is doing a lot of things - popular and unpopular - to try to change healthcare.

it's really too early to tell, dude.

A lot of people are seriously pissed off, reminds me a lot of 94 when the Repubs won EVERYTHING.
2010 and 2012 could be big years for the Repubs if the Democrats don't get their shit together fast.

Interestingly, Obama has made some MAJOR changes that many people disagree with, and we're in the midst of a serious recession.

And his popularity number (by gallup, the most reliable indicator for the last 4 decades) still have him at 53 to 55%.  So he'd still win the election today.

Common sense (and history!) says a president will do all the controversial and unpopular stuff early in his presidency, then go moderate later in his term to get re-elected.  Once obama starts doing popular stuff, such declaring a win in afghanistan, killing bin laden, or fixing unemployment, that 53% approval will suddenly be 60 or 70% again.

And don't forget the repubs (historically) go far-right at times like these.  They'll run a Palin in 2012 based on her ability to win that repub base, but the moderates aren't going to buy the bible-thumping, "world is only 5000 years old" stuff.

Its an experiment gone awry
simple as that
there is nothing really wrong with health care-and I worked in health care for over 20 years on my own
believe me-NOBODY dies in this country from not having insurance-that is a pathetic lie

Repubs will win a lot of seats back in 2010.  Old people vote in mid-terms, young ppl usually stay home.  That tea-party bunch is gonna win some seats for the Repubs.

By 2012, however, if we have any semblance of a recovered economy, and the Dems can claim they kept us safe for 4 years while Bush couldn't read a memo detailing the 911 attacks just 8 months on the job...

Well, if Dems can claim victory on economy AND security, they can't lose.

NO president will be perfect and all have their naysayers.
What bugs me is how so many attack the guy on personal rather than issue based stuff.
For example, one guy in the gym told me he didn't want "obamacare" but he didn't even know what the "public option " was. wtf?
That is like saying you don't agree with who won a contest when you don't know who else was on stage with the winner.

You may be onto something here.  People seem easily confused about politics.  What if we put everything in terms of the olympia stage?  'Economic recovery is like Jay Cutler's contest diet...'

Hmmm, who got billions and billions in federal welfare....called the TARP baliout.
I didn't see too many poor liberal getting much of that cash.

FYI, I am 100% against welfare or bailouts of any kind.
The modern republican party is NOT conservative unless it involves someones sex life

If you ever had to get a major procedure done, the paper work for your HMO is worse than anything the fed GOV could come up with. I just had a colonoscopy and the amount of papwerwork for just the ins was crazy.
Do you honestly think the current HMO for profit system is efficeint?
