My question to you: what is a good range of optimal protein intake? How optimal is it, and in what sense? Wil i gain 2 lbs of muscle instead of 2.1 lbs of muscle in a year if i dont overconsume protein? 
I don't follow my own advices, so I don't know if I should comment.

I eat between 20-120 grams, depending on appetite. However I look like absolute shit - I know I'm eating too little most days. I'm stronger than ever but the body looks crappy, flabby.
Protein requirement depends on overall calorie intake and overall carb intake which is protein sparing, etc. Steroid intake may reduce requirement (due to recycling of aminos) or increase it because of amount of new muscle protein synthesized.
I know 20 grams is too little (the amount Vince Basile thinks is required LOL).
I would go with what Lyle McDonald or Alan Aragon recommended and then go from there. I think Lyle said 1.5 grams/lb for strength athlete. May be too much but it probably doesn't hurt.
