Thanks to WW and PL66 for the positive words on my hometown.

When I was 12, I was out shoveling the drive way with my dad.
He was a loving dad but was tough minded after serving in WWII and Korea.

It was cold and I got tired after an hour of shoveling.
I told him, I was done shoveling, threw down my shovel and started to walk in.

I took 3-4 steps and I felt this quick , hard shove in the back.
The shove sent me face first into a snow bank.
I dusted the snow off my face, picked my shovel back up and finished the driveway with him.

He never said a word and simply nodded his head at me when I returned to work.

My dad is long dead and I miss him.
But, every winter, I reflect on the unspoken  life lesson he taught me as a boy that winter.

Would love for you to give me a long session with many repetitions of hard shoves in the back. (Maybe a little homo)

I'm digging the cold weather running in the park. You can do 40 minutes and hardly break a sweat.

Good luck to Boston Getbiggers. Apparently, more snow on the way.

I agreed to go XC skiing on Monday. On the plus side, there will be a foot and a half of new snow. On the downside, it'll be -10F in the sun.

Howard our dad's were very similar and mine gained his citizenship fighting in Korea (no EBT back then).  He has Alzheimer's now and if he knew he would be so pissed I didn't take him in the woods and use my glock.

I just got these and they are awesome.

Sorry about yours too bro.  My dad was a brilliant guy and tough as nails which made West Point seem like a cake walk compared to living at home haha!

What are those boots? They look amazing.

They are Sorel and honestly they blow my Northface away!  I found them at Red's in Plaistow but they were out of my size so I bought them on line.

Sorels are awesome. Got mine at Sam's Outdoor in Brattleboro, VT. Used to wear them to work in harsh winter weather when I lived in Western MA. Probably the best winter boots made...  :)

Although, I don't know if the Sorels made today are the same as they used to be. This excerpt from Wikipedia...

"Sorel is a line of winter boots. The boot has long been popular in Canada for its high quality and warmth. The Sorel line was introduced in 1962 [1] by Kitchener, Ontario-based Kaufman Rubber Co. (later known as Kaufman Footwear), and became the world's best-selling cold weather boot.[2] In the summer of 2000, Kaufman Footwear went bankrupt, and the Sorel trademark was bought by Columbia Sportswear.[3] Following Columbia's purchase, the Sorel brand was expanded to other products, such as nylon outerwear and other work-related garments.[4] Prior to Kaufman's bankruptcy, Sorel boots were made only in Canada; today they are produced outside of Canada, mainly in China (2012) or Vietnam."  :(

Bummer how many boots/shoes are made OUS! My kicking around boots are the American made Red Wings and you can't kill them!

I've lived in my Rocky S2V 105 boots since I bought them.  Never had boots so comfy.  The soles wore out first, maybe because I'm on concrete a lot, so just bought a second pair but am too chicken to dirty them so far.  First pair has seen a lot of hours tho so I'm very satisfied.  Consider them for summer.

There's some manufacturing compliance that they need to meet in order to be allowed to sell to the military, so they're US made enough to pass, whatever that means.  And you get to look like you just came from stomping jihadists.

I know of a band that is scheduled to play the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, next Friday, 2-20. Are people able to get around in that area?

Depending on the time, I might be able to pull that off.

The NH contingent should probably meetup in Portsmouth, since we all love it. I am about 60 minutes away.

It's true. With getbiggers, every physical meeting has the possibility of going full-homo.

Where is that metric on a per-thread basis?

This will probably up your average to 18.2 replies per thread.

I have a little more than 3 feet on the ground and another 18" due this weekend. My dogs are going to be able to step over the 4' property fencing  :-\

The dunes in my front yard from the plow guy are already 7' high.

So, we have the storm tonight. That'll probably bring 12"-18" and then GFS has another Nor'easter dumping vast amounts of snow on Wednesday. NE Peeps, you will never again -- God willing -- see another winter like this. Just insane.
