Just for the sake of clarity. It generally takes two to have a disagreement. In re-reading the thread where all the action happened, it seems like it was a three way disagreement. Everyone involved could have taken a step back and things probably would have ended up differently.

Lol, unique perspectives are what getbig is all about.

Trained delts and arms today. I really tried to up the poundages used. A couple of times I missed my rep goals because I was over enthusiastic with my weight choices but I reached goal in most of the exercises. With the single dumbbell two hand triceps extension I nearly dropped the weight on my head as I got close to exhaustion. I have to watch that one.  I used 80lbs. and really went as low as physically possible bending my arms fully. On my last rep things got a little squirrely.

No warm up sets listed.

Military press 2 x 8
dumbbell laterals 2 x 10
single arm delt pulley laterals 1 x 10
rear dumbbell laterals 2 x 10
shrugs 2 x 10

Tricep traditional pushdown 2 x 10
EZ bar lying tricep extensions 2 x 8
Single dumbbell two hand tricep extension 2 x 10 (reversed a Scott curl pad for back support)

Barbell curls 2 x10 (these are beginning to hurt my surgically repaired bicep where it attaches at the shoulder. Going to use the easy curl bar. Less stress to the joint.)
Alternate dumbbell curl 2 x 8
Single arm D handle pulley curls 2 x 12

forearm wrist curls 2 x 20
reverse wrist extensions 2 x 15

Incline sit ups 1 x 32
Feet up weighted crunches 1 x 35
Pulley crunches 2 x 32

Ivanko gripper 2 x 20 ( set the springs so hard I couldn't touch the bar toward the end)

Turned off the radio, got my water and journal heading up the stairs. I turned around and went down for a final burn out of pushups. Only got 32 good ones. Triceps were burned out but it felt good to get that final pump.

Welcome back Donny. I missed your posts.

Did the laziest cardio today but it was so enjoyable. I walked 3 miles in a park. Some really nice chicks walking too. Just as I finished 7 girls running in pack went by me. Suddenly I felt guilty for not running today but it was great blasting music walking fast. I'll run next cardio day.

Now this is really something I can identify with. I love a walk in the park. Never tried doing it to music yet. Sounds like a plan. There are some really incredible parks in and around Portland, OR. There is everything from nature trails to rose gardens.

How heavy?
80kg (176lbs). was enough weight for me doing a SS with leg extensions first, pre exhaust style. last set was less 75kg (165). Weight was not important to me but Deep squats and getting high reps, 15+. I prefer Higher reps on front squats.

nothing wrong with walking. You can gather your thoughts and see some intresting things along the way.  Will train back tonight..

Front chins (medium grip) 4 sets
Close grip pulldowns 3-4 sets
BB rows 4 sets
EZ Bar pullover 3-4 sets

cardio i will do before weight training as later no time. Run through the woods for about 45 mins at a good clip. Will throw in some abs after my run.

I meant the front squats.

It's only stimulation that matters in bbing, and weight is just one of the variables. One variable says nothing about the quality.

I typically stay lighter on front squats, I seem to have developed a lump on my left clavicle from doing them. :-\

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but OK....

The problem I have when a bodybuilder says a weight they use is that there is so many variables. Here are a few.

1. machine to machine. We all know one machine say a leg extension we can put the pin in the 200lbs slot and another manufacturer's machine 120 lbs is nearly impossible. This goes for all machines. My home lat pull unit uses very little weight due to friction and the pulley set up than most commercial machines.

2. Range of motion. Small ego delusional guys love to short stroke a movement to handle a heavier weight. You can have three guys do a press behind the neck. The first will stop when his upper arms are parallel to the ground effectively doing a half rep. You can handle some serious weigh with this short range of motion. The second guy will do a 3/4 rep range of motion. The third guy will bring the bar to touch his traps and push out from there. From the point of science using physics the full range of motion guy is doing the most amount of work therefore taxing his muscles the hardest. You will see short range of motion "heroes" on so many exercises from squats, leg press, and any type of pressing.

3. Time between sets. How can you compare weight used when you don't know the rest period between sets? One guy can claim big numbers and he is resting 2 plus minutes between sets. Another guy you might want to laugh at his weight numbers but you couldn't keep up because he uses 30 to 20 seconds between sets. I heard this about Chris Dickerson. Everyone said he used light weights until they tried to keep up with him in his prime.

4. Tempo:  How fast is the concentric and eccentric rep speed?  One guy using a very slow rep cadence using 70lbs in a curl might be working harder than the guy swinging up 125lbs and dropping the weight on the negative.

There are other variables but I'm tired of typing. In my view if you want to prove you're strong and have power then lets see who can pick up that barbell on the floor and put it over head.

Absolutely. But we're not talking strength, Donny said he does about 15 reps. Not sure of his range of motion but I prefer ATG, front or rear squats.

The range of motion debate is a classic and endless one, so why start another one ???
