They say it comes in threes. I saw the doctor today with both my children. My son has an infection in his arm because he wasn't cleaned and stitched properly when he came off his dirt motorbike two weeks ago and went to the hospital. The gravel wasn't all removed. That's how messed up our public hospitals are here. My daughter has phemonia and is to have bed rest for the remainder of the week. I saw the doc about my jaw and I have tmj syndrome in my jaw. :-(

I am still here just going to be posting from my iPhone until I get my laptop sorted. I did post up my workout yesterday but it didn't go through. I supersetted my bis and tris and did 90 mins of brisk walking outdoors.

If you are using Windows operating system, have you tried starting your computer in "safe mode" and then resetting it to an earlier time when It loaded without any problem? If you don't know how to do this, let me know and I will walk you through it if I can. Anyway, it is worth giving this a try before you hire a repair at probably about $100 an hour.

yes i agree... old guys like me need more recovery plus i do a fair amount of cardio so that is also a point.

I think it is OK to refer to oneself as being old. Some days lately, I feel very old and I am only 68 years young. I wonder what I will feel like at 80 years of age.

I am with you on recovery, I have found that the older I get the more time my body seems to like for recovery after a workout. The good news is that once recovered, my body seems ready to go again. When last I worked out, I was working essentially one muscle group a day. I divided leg workouts to quads and calves and later in the week hams and calves. I like to hit each muscle a few different ways in each workout. For quads I really like doing reverse hack squats. After doing them for awhile, I noticed several other folks doing them too. I think I started a trend. I haven't done squats for a couple of years now, preferring to do leg presses instead. I worry about my knees and my back even though I have never hurt them doing squats.

Cardio can be very boring for me. Living in a rainy climate, I tend to do cardio indoors much of the time. This rather limits the array of activities to the more boring ones: such as, stationary bike rides, stair steppers to nowhere, treadmills which leave you right were you started, with a slightly elevated heart rate, etc. Years ago, I was more ambitious about riding my bicycle and getting soaked while doing it or running on the sidewalks and in the streets, (wrenched my knees couple of times doing this by stepping wrong off a curb). I walk my dogs off leash late at night when no one is out. They move at a pretty good pace. Sadly, I have found myself out of breath just keeping up with them while walking up our hill. These are times when I wish I walked on four legs like they do. They seem to manage the hills with ease.

Karen,

Here you are with TMJ and a bum nose....you're broken girl! Just kidding. Be careful that you don't over focus on these things. My daughter who is 37 years old has so many ailments that sometimes she seems like a hypochondriac although her illnesses/conditions are all legitimate.

Pneumonia is nothing to mess with. once you have it you are more susceptible to getting it again. I didn't get many childhood diseases, but I first had pneumonia when I was 4 years old. Throughout my childhood years and well into adulthood, I suffered from bronchial pneumonia many times. I know now that at the first sign of a cold, I go to the doctor for antibiotics. If I don't I end up with pneumonia and coughing for 3 or 4 months. On the plus side, all that coughing does tighten ones abs somewhat.

Even though I have been on Medicare for the last three years, I buy supplemental medical insurance to insure I have good coverage in the event of medical necessities. Aside from medical insurance premiums, all I paid for the prostatectomy was $300 for the two days in the hospital. The procedure cost nearly $30,000. Had I had to pay that, it would have seriously impacted my savings account. I hope as the U.S. moves forward with the affordable healthcare act, medical care will not suffer. I hear horror stories about government healthcare plans such as they have in Canada and England. On the other hand, Germany has excellent health care.

Thanks, it's nice to be missed. Thank god for my iPhone, I love it as its reliable and works better than my toshiba laptop. Next time I think I will get a mac

A good friend of mine who is definitely not very computer savvy, recently purchased an Apple desktop computer. He loves it! He was always running into difficulties with his PC which, frankly, was very old and tired. The real problem though is that PC's and Windows based laptops require tinkering to operate optimally. Apple products are computer dummy friendly.

My nose isn't bum it's just swollen which is normal this far out from surgery. I love how it looks and the fact that I haven't had any infections so it is functioning really well. My jaw I strained in the gym when I was training legs a couple of weeks ago. It still hurts but at least it's getting easier to eat. I had to eat soft foods the first week and eat really slowly.

Quads alone mate.. This is another "can't get out of the gym" workout ie focusing on weak links (train those body parts twice- medial and rear delts/traps in seven days).. If feel spent/tired then I would take the two days off.

Its all about sufficient Fibre, water and removal/reduction of dairy - because of the gas (I've been there myself).. As a result I had any issue in over 2 years.

It surprises me, Karen, that you apparently took my chiding you about your nose and jaw so seriously. Temporomandibular disorders are a serious problem which affect more women then men and can last indefinitely or eventually go away. It is good to know that you are pleased with the results of your rhinoplasty and that the swelling you frequently mention as being very troublesome is a part of the normal healing process.

What also surprises me is that you chose this topic to reply to above the topic of your laptop problems which I also offered to help you with. This tells me that your jaw and your nose are bothering you more than the resent technology dysfunctions you've experienced. How is your laptop BTW?
