Hey, folks. I'll be 43 in July and have been training seriously and naturally for about four years. I work out what I feel is pretty hard in the gym, doing 10 to 12 sets per bodypart, going to failure, etc., and working each body part once per week. I feel that I've made very good gains in my physique and strength, at least compared to where I was when I started (I'm only competing with myself).
I feel that I have stopped making gains, both physique wise and strength wise. I'm happy where I'm at, but, you know, why not strive for more if you can?
I guess I'm wondering whether I've just reached a plateau or whether this is as far as my body is going being my age (nearly 43), being natural, and starting so late in life. I think I work pretty hard in the gym, and am not really interested in adding too much more lest I get burnt out and lose interest altogether.
If this is as far as I can go, I'm wondering whether it's a good idea to keep pushing myself hard in the gym (I'm not getting any younger), or best to just do a maintenance routine and concentrate on overall conditioning, etc.
Has anyone else gone through this, and can perhaps offer thoughts and/or advice. I realize I've been pretty general about my routine, etc. Thanks.
