Karen after our conversation on Facebook about Dangerous snakes and stuff in Aussie land i saw a Report on TV yesterday about python snakes breeding in Florida...they have found out 2 types are cross breeding. the Indian and African Pythons and are now in the Florida area. I think they said the Indian ones are very aggressive and the African are bigger and are breeding. They told a Story of a 10 year old Boy in Africa being crushed then eaten by one...the Young Boys friends saw it, climbed up a tree and had to see it. they reckon Florida is ideal for them and they are slowly coming near habitated Areas. I am glad i am in Europe. Some of the shit you got in Australia too....Na...not for me ;D

Did chest today.

Dumbbell flat bench 2 of 8 reps
Incline dumbbell bench 2 of 8
Flat flies                     2 of 10
Dumbbell pullover        2 of 10

Hanging leg raise 2 x max
Floor crunches 1 x 50
Pulley ab crunches 2 x 35

Took 35 minutes. Rested 5 minutes then hit the treadmill. Today's workout was a challenge due to my recovering shoulder and my calf that has stopped me from running consistently for almost 2 months. I ran a slow 10 minute mile pace then a 9 minutes mile. Ran a quarter in 8 minute pace to see if my leg would hold up. Going to do a 9 and 8 minute mile tomorrow but maybe I shouldn't push things yet. Hope to run some races in September but it all depends on injuries. I have to take it slow and short for now.

Tomorrow is back day. I change how I train a lot but I'm using this split for now. Mon-Chest, Tues-back, Wed-cardio only, Thurs-legs and friday is delt and arms.
yes i like that split....

Milk & banana only? Why not add 1-2 scoops of unflavored whey? It would be great if McD sold these.

Be careful with those close grip upright rows (wrists & shoulder joints), give upright rows with 2 cables a try.

Over here, it's warm & stuffy as well, so I prefer the shadow. My gym does a pretty good job with their internal climate, and I sip light flavored water between each set. I try to listen to my heart rate & breathing. This way, I had no problems with my 5 sets of slow & deep squats, yesterday.

yes normally upright rows irritate my shoulders but they seem OK...yes i sip water between sets too. I put a very slight bit of concentrated orange Juice in there for taste.

That's why I perform them with a wide grip, to train the lateral part of my delts.
I do the same trick with drinks, less than 5% is juice. Pomegranate juice is one of my favorites. I only choose unsweetened juices.

yes i know what you mean... i wanted to hit my Traps a bit more with the closer grip. Depending on whatīs going on in the Gym.. i might squeeze in some calfes... ;D i just jump on the calf machine and do a set to failure every so often... depends on how many appointments there are.

I have no scientific references for this, but I don't think that the width of the grip has much influence in the traps involvement.
A little confession. In order to look balanced, I don't perform direct calf and trap exercises. I worry much more about my hamstrings, inner chest, triceps and forearms.

'root beer floats' and 'hot fudge sundaes'.. great names and I bet they taste good.
I try to avoid sweetened foods & drinks as much as possible and the same goes for beverages. This year, I've prob drank 3-4 milkshakes and 2-3 glasses of wine. I don't miss these foods/drinks that much, but burgers & pizza are a different story.. ;)

I know, because of the polyphenols and resveratrol. But over here, it's hard to find good & affordable alcohol-free wine.
Grape juice & green tea are good alternatives.

I haven't tried alcohol free wine, so I have no idea of how good or bad it tastes or how much it costs. If I were a teetotaler, which I am not, I would go with grape juice and green tea. Actually, I do drink a fair quantity of green tea, not necessarily because it is supposed to be good for you, but simply because I like it. Unfortunately, I add sugar to my tea. Hey.....no one is perfect!

Where is "over here" at anyway?

I did this workout today. Back day.

Chins 2 x max
Low cable row with V bar attachment 2 x 12
Single dumbbell row off bench 2 x 10
reverse grip pulldowns 2 x 10

Deadlifts 2 x 4  then 1 x 1
Weighted back extensions 2 x 15 (held 20lbs behind head)
Weighted crunches 1 x 50 reps.

Actually felt a little light headed during deads. I have to make sure I breath completely when straining to complete the lift. Hope it's not a sign of heart trouble.

I was thinking about putting down weight used but it really serves no purpose. My home lat and low row plate loaded machine has so much friction it limits the amount of weight used. When I go to a commercial gym I really up the weight used when I put that pin in the slick operating equipment.

Also I try to make every exercise as hard as I can make it using a smooth cadence and a full range of motion. I know most guys want to pick up the "big" dumbbells then proceed to make the exercise as easy as they can by short stroking everything. I never saw short stroking back in the day and now if you ask someone why they are doing it they tell you it's injury prevention. I would rather grab the 60lbs dumbbells for shoulder presses and go all the way down than have two guys hand me the 100lbs and do half reps where the elbows (humerus) never break parallel.

A 'teetotaler'.. I've never read this word before, nice one! (thx Google Translate) I'm not a teetotaler either, but I'm pretty sensitive to alcohol. I only drink it when there's a place to sleep. The price of alcohol-free wine is prob high due its limited supply and demand, and the production process. Beer however, is a different story, but I'm not really into beer, other than a few labels.

Some time ago, I bought pure green tea powder, since it's much cheaper than capsules, but never again. It tastes awful and it's like glue, combined with water.
Maybe you can add some honey instead of sugar? They're still fast carbs, but it's good for your immune system (reference).

'Over here' means the Netherlands, so no Costco, Whole Foods or Gold's gym chains ;)
