You can tell him if you wish. If we all ate just vegetables, there might not be enough of them to go around and then Falcon would get so hungry he's have to grab a piece of meat to gnaw on just to stay alive. I say we hog tie him and force feed him a Tri-tip. It will make man out of him. (no homo)!

I have yet to try his oven roasted potatoes with honey and mustard. I am thinking I will give these a go with a twist. Instead of spreading honey and mustard on them, I will use some honey mustard salad dressing to oil them up before roasting them. What do you think?
LOL on Falcon. He lives near me he is having a back issue now so I am trying to help with suggestions on that. The oven potatoes are good no doubt keep on keeping on Prime you are a good soul.

I make my roast potatoes the way Nigella does.  I brush some flour on them and then drizzle olive oil over them in the roasting pan.  The flour makes them roast a real golden brown.  They are the best roast potatoes ever

People built like Falcon are often prone to back problems. Although I am not tall like he is, I do have a really long back. I feel lucky to not suffer from back problems. One thing that helps is not carrying too much weight in one's stomach area. Pot bellies really put a lot of stress on the back.

Are you suggesting core exercises? More then crunches and the like, core building exercises really seem to combat back issues. I learned this while is physical therapy for spasms in my back several years ago.

Tonight I am going to finish off the clam chowder I made several days ago. The recipe I used is from a famous seafood restaurant on the Oregon coast known as Moe's. They have been around for decades. The chowder is really hardy with lots of clams. Not exactly diet food, but all good stuff anyway. I don't know what my wife will eat since she doesn't like clam chowder.

Agreed on tall people, I am 6'2" I guess tall by standards, yea he is doing twists and stuff now says it feels better. A chiropractor showed me some twists a few years ago after injuring mine doing heavy deads.

That sounds good send me the recipe.

Here is a link to the recipe I used;http://www.food.com/recipe/mos-clam-chowder-270792. Like LDSMom128, I chopped up the rendered bacon and returned it to the pot. The recipe makes a lot of soup. These are 8 good sized servings. I love soup and especially clam chowder so that was fine with me. I don't recommend making more than you can eat up in a week though....same as with anything with seafood in it.

Next up, I may try making some lobster bisque.

Another good seafood dish that is beyond easy to make is oyster stew, which is basically just oysters and the juice they come in with whole milk and/or cream, butter, paprika and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. You know what they say about oysters.....so you might want to have a date join you for dinner when you make this.  ;D

Did you work legs for me too? Today was my leg day. I didn't make it to the gym though. I feel my knee tightening up again which isn't good. I was able to keep it mobile the last time the miniscule tear acted up by working it at the gym. I may do legs tomorrow even though it is Sunday and I don't generally go to the gym on Sundays.

Karen you are a great Woman...
so People i trained Chest today...

Parallel bar Dips 5xmax(really getting into Dips, it really shapes my chest in a way Benches do not)
Flat DB flyes 5x12
Incline BB press 5x10

i like this combination of Dips, Flys and presses. I also like Dips with push ups...you are working the chest hard too and safely as push ups are safe when exhausted. However if doing BB incline i give my chest a small ..."rest" with DB flys....now if i pre-exhaust then of course itīs diffrent.

I was able to keep it mobile the last time the miniscule tear acted up by working it at the gym. I may do legs tomorrow even though it is Sunday and I don't generally go to the gym on Sundays.

Did not make it to the gym yesterday, not that it would have made a difference. Monday is the day I inject my weekly dose of testosterone cypionate. After this mornings injection, I was fired up to hit the gym and kill my legs. I did my chores around the house, took my wife to lunch, answered a couple of business calls and then headed to the gym with every intention of making up for lost time on my quads and calves. What a letdown! My right leg (the one with the torn meniscus) was aching when I stepped out on the gym floor. Never-the-less, I launched into my routine, starting with leg extensions. I immediately knew I was in big trouble when I couldn't begin to lift the weight I'd used on the previous workout. Okay, so I dropped the weight down to zilch to warm up to the movement and my leg started feeling better. I pulled up my shorts so I could see the muscles working for inspiration. I moved through the exercise slowly and deliberately, locking out at the top of each movement. My knee pain actually lessened with each set, so I did 8 sets with light but increasing resistance. Good, I thought.

I limped down to the lower floor where I do leg presses all the while feeling my calf muscle seize up and shin splints kicking in with enormous pain. I soldiered on. Just to test the movement, I added no weight to the leg press machine and cranked out 25 reps. My knee felt fine. My right calf on the other hand was killing me. So what did I do? I pumped out 25 reps of leg press calf raises to "loosen it up" which did not work worth shit. Next I loaded a couple of plates on the leg press which was still nothing compared to what I normally lift. I cranked out another set of leg presses. Again, my knee felt fine, better even. But my calf and lower leg was in agony. I wanted to scream like a little girl (no offense Karen), but I didn't. I finished 3 or 4 sets of leg presses, giving up the calf raises in between. Then I looked at the hack squat and thought to myself there is no way in hell I can do this exercise. I wimped and limped off the gym floor, got dressed and drove home using cruise control because even pressing the gas pedal was killing me.

I walked in the door, headed straight for the bathroom and lathered my entire lower right leg in sports cream. I am almost walking like a normal person right now.

This has to be the hands down worse gym experience I have ever had in my lifetime.

Tomorrow I am headed down the valley to speak at a retirees meeting about our retirement benefits. I have every intention of working arms when I get back. Something has to give and babying myself is not the answer.

I know this is the mature thread, but I feel like I am a negative presence lately. Do you all really want to hear what may lie ahead for you? I suspect not.

Okay, gotta go because I am frying up some sirloin burgers from Costco for fortification and dinner.

jay every workout now at this stage is a small piece of the puzzle to keep fit ,find and regain some youth and be well, not kill yourself ,rest and get back and do what you can do if its chest/arms /back and you can work these parts pain free ,then do them 2 x a wk even, lay off the legs ,walk,do light extensions and thats it,cause legs are tough and doing them are hurting you and depressing you from doing the good parts you could train.stay off it and get motivated to keep the upper body trim/fit.

Thank you Donny.   :-*  I went to the doctor this morning.  Can't take this throat thing any longer.  I woke up from the pain during the night and couldn't get back to sleep.  I am on penicillan.  I will rest up for 24 hours and let the meds start working and then start training again or walking..which ever I can do.

Reminds me of the Army Med Centre we had.. bunch of idiots. we had some civilian Doctors who worked in their too...drop Outs from the UK so they worked for the Army. I remember i had a really bad throat infection and i could hardly swallow my saliva never mind Food. I survived on soup .. anyway i went to the Med centre and this stupid woman Doctor said oh itīs OK go back to work. Anyway went to work and got sent home because i was in shit state. I went to a German Doctor who gave me Penicillin, was so strong when i pissed i smelled it ;D...after that i got better, first day back at work i was still weak and got told i was picked with a few others to represent the Regiment on a running Fitness test...i should have said i was still on medication but i did it...i struggled but passed it. I was running and was like high and could not feel my legs..i just went into a state of Zen.

Anyway, I think it's slightly better this morning.  At least I don't feel as though I am swallowing razor blades.
