Well, see thats the difference. Its their job to sell merchandise to stay in business, but its not their job to make you feel comfortable. To a great extent, making you feel comfortable is secondary to you buying merchandise, since Ive been in shitty stores and purchased items.
However, for parents, love and comfort are not secondary. Its primary. According to societal standards, its the job of parents to provide love, comfort and support to their children. This is not an option. In certain cases, when the opposite happens, authorities are involved. We don't place the comfort and care of children in department stores hands.
So, at the end of the day, no, its not their jobs, in the same way that its the parents jobs to provide love and comfort to their children. The standards of care are demonstrably different.
