The Strangers was pretty intense as well. The impending doom was tough to take.

Last good horror movie I watched was "The Descent".

However, watch it with the original cinematic (international) ending and not the American one...

I enjoyed sinister, first horror film I've liked in a while. Can't say I remember last time was scared of a horror as its my favorite genre and have been watching them from an early age, was scared shitless by puppet master when I was 8 or 9 or so but a few years later got into watching horrors and loved them, have been having regular fucked up nightmares since a child also so kind of used to it.

Haha, Im not a fan of being in the house by myself when its dark. Happily wander around outside in the dark, but still sprint up the stairs if all the lights are out.

Not gay.

I thought this was pretty good.

Supposedly based on true accounts:

A cop and a priest team up on a case of demonic possession in this Screen Gems horror film based on actual cases investigated by retired NYPD police officer-turned-demonologist Ralph Sarchie. When a frightening wave of violence sweeps through New York City, troubled cop Sarchie (Eric Bana) fails to find a rational explanation for the bizarre crimes. His eyes are opened to a frightening alternate reality, however, when renegade Jesuit priest Mendoza (Édgar Ramírez) convinces him that demonic possession may be to blame for the gruesome murders. Together, this unlikely duo wage a valiant supernatural struggle to rid the city of an otherworldly evil. But the closer they get to the source of this malevolent scourge, the more immediate the danger becomes to Sarchie, his pregnant wife Jen (Olivia Munn), and their young daughter Christina (Lulu Wilson).

Fright Night in 1985....it has a rotten tomato review of 91%....a true Hollywood classic until they remake it in 2013 and completely ruin it

It was based on a non-fiction book. Very good read. Truth is stranger than fiction.

yeah books are much better

some good horror books make your skin crawl

you can paint a much better image in your mind

than a movie can recreate

Can you give me a few titles you found scary? Always looking for a good read.

Summer of Night by Dan Simmons.  One night it made me put down the book and search the house, it was that creepy.  :o

The Shrine.  Pretty low buck so they had to rely on cinematoghraphy and writing to make it suspenseful, rather than using special effects. Turned out to be a pretty decent horror movie.

It's about a group of women who meet up for a reunion and go caving.

Diabolique ..... The original French version..

On opening nite in Northern California two people in the audience had heart attacks and from that day on the theater had to pay to have an ambulance stationed at the front door or else the city wold close it down,

Most likely pretty mellow to today's audiences since the Texas Chainsaw Massacre  series
and Night of the Living Dead.

A not too scarrie movie but pretty damn sick was the original THE FLY with Vincent  Pricee in the final scene when you can hear a little voice yelling, "Help me! Help me!" and the camera shows you a little fly with Vincent Price's head attached.

And he's caught in a spider web. And in the background you can see the spider coming in his direction.

That was how the original version went but I think that they had to change it due to the sick reaction from those who saw during it's first week run.

I don't know how the second version ended.

No, not Vincent Price's head on the fly.  How about recommending the film instead of giving away the ending?
