Go back to the 50s when the biggest football player was 210 lbs. Today with the help of drugs, we have 330lb players who are not only strong but very fast. Do the math, this is what is leading to the concussions.

You're right, they are ok getting paid millions but want to blame the NFL for head injuries they knew were part of the risks. What about blue collar factory workers and construction workers, I'm sure they sustain ailments from their jobs but they don't get shit. They know it's part of doing physical work. Sf1900 I don't follow football either but I follow wrestling and some of these guys are doing the same concussion shit the NFL players are doing. I like how former WWE wrestler Lance Storm put it; he said they are all adults and knew the risks going in. I could probably find the audio if anyone is interested.

Until recently they did NOT know the danger of multiple concussions - I follow rugby (and played it) and it was seen as like a knee injury. Once symptoms gone you're grand.

The $800m lawsuit turned out a few things, probably changed nothing. If I were a pro athlete I would still go all out and risk it - that is how they are by nature. Fuck the pay, they would tear each other apart to win regardless.

It's all overblown and deliberately so, part of the strategy of the wussification of America.  They don't want parents to let their kids play contact sports or have toy guns.  If football were as dangerous as they pretend it is, every single person would know 10-20 brain addled ex football players at least.  Pretty much everyone I know who played is fine.  Also 99 percent who play are never at the level of pro where the worst happens.

Well, you are assuming that grown men have unlimited choice in how to direct their fate, but is is limited to whatever system they are raised under.  In a capitalist system a man is literally forced to choose an occupation.  Many men also internalise the systemic view that their lives are worthless so of course such men are going to choose the best paying occupations even though they know it comes at a great risk.  They have been told since birth that their lives hold no value other than what they can provide to women, children and nation so have no problem sacrificing their lives/health for others.  Any man who actually cared about his own well being would never participate in a sport that caused him to damage his own brain/body.
