I remember one time when I was 17 years old and at Myrtle Beach for High School Spring Break. All of us were drinking, I had a fifth of liquor in my pocket and I was with my friend who was notorious for fighting and beating up police even. His dad was the Fire Chief back home so that got him out of a lot of things, but not everything. One time he even beat up old man Perley A. Thomas Jr, son of the founder of Thomas Built buses. I remember Perley, who was around 70 or so at the time, pulled up in his Porsche and started yelling to get off the street-his house was down the road. Stephen did not say a word, just walked up and decked him. He did end up serving time for that one, 30 days in the can, Senior year in high school. That was just a string of many, many, many incidents with fighting. He ended up burning down an entire apartment complex, served 6 years for that and is out now working a respectable job when he is not MMA fighting. Strange but true.
Anyways, back to Spring Break...we were all drinking and the cops roll around in vans locking up as many people as they can for underage drinking. They happen to spot us, and line us up against a wall. Hands behind the back command as they were going to take us all in. He gets to Stephen, and what does Stephen do? Turns around and lays the cop out with one blow, we then all take off running in every which way.
I started running and after 5 or so minutes figured I was in the clear. I remember I had a US ARMY shirt on and my hair was long, easy to pick out. So I then just start walking down the street and then I hear, "Don't fucking move or I will shoot, Do you want to die?" I knew exactly who it was. The cop Stephen punched. I freeze get on the ground. I remember him questioning me where the other guy who hit him was. I had no idea where he went. He could see he was getting nowhere so he then calls for backup and they take me in. All I get cited for is underage drinking and the fifth of liquor. Back then, all you had to do was pay the money to get out. No paperwork or anything. I suspect they were just pocketing all this money. I mean it was a ton of money they had to be bringing in given the amount of people they were rounding up.
I still can't believe he hit that officer like that and I really still can't believe he didn't shoot me or someone. I am willing to bet if that same scenario happened today, I or someone would have been dead. Crazy stuff.
Here is an old article on Stephen if anyone thinks I am lying about him or this incident. He is a good citizen now despite all the shit he has done. Most people probably would be serving 20-80 years for the shit he did.

The son of a former High Point fire chief is facing charges of attempted murder in connection with a fire at an apartment complex in August.Stephen Dayle Hudson II was charged with first-degree arson in for the fire that caused $620,000 damage to an apartment building at the Crossing at Chester Ridge Aug. 5. The fire caused no injuries but left about a dozen residents homeless.
The two counts of attempted murder were added because police believe Hudson, then 20, set the fire to get back at a teenage girl and her father who lived in one of the apartments, said High Point police Capt. Debra Duncan.
Police did not say why Hudson was trying to get back at the two.
Witnesses told police Hudson talked to people in the apartment building before the fire was set, said Detective Mike Bye.
Hudson initially was arrested at the scene of the fire and charged with a misdemeanor count of delaying and obstructing government administration. Police said he had slipped under the yellow police tape surrounding the scene and told officers he lived there. He also gave officers a fictitious name, police said at the time.
Hudson is the son of former fire Chief Stephen Hudson Sr. The elder Hudson was named chief in 1991 and resigned in 1995 after questions arose about spending and management practices.
Stephen Dayle Hudson II is being held at the High Point Jail under $25,000 bond for the two attempted murder charges and a $500,000 bond for the first-degree arson charge.\ \ Contact Shannon Jordan at 883-4422, Ext. 237, or sjordan@news-record.com
