Andrew Breitbart said the GOP minority/female presidential candidate would be the kill shot for the Democrat party.

You put a minority and a female on the ticket and you shoot them straight through the heart.

I believe we will see just that within the next 10 to 20 years.

This is why Candace Owens gets savaged by liberals. You can’t  have a good looking smart black woman getting out of line like that.

Poll: Lou Barletta and Bob Casey in Dead Heat in Pennsylvania Senate Race

Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) are in a dead heat in the Pennsylvania Senate race, according to a poll released on Monday.

A Commonwealth Leaders Fund poll found that Sen. Bob Casey leads by only two points, with Casey at 47 percent, Barletta at 45 percent, and 6.1 percent of Pennsylvania voters undecided. The poll had a 3.6-point margin of error, making the Pennsylvania Senate race a virtual toss-up.

The poll also weighted heavily for a significant Democrat turnout that outpaces previous “Democratic waves.” The poll suggested that Democrats will have a five-point turnout advantage over Republicans. However, if Democrat turnout drops below five percent over Republicans, the Commonwealth suggests it could spell trouble for Sen. Casey’s chances of getting re-elected.

The survey also found that a majority of Pennsylvania voters, 53 percent, strongly or somewhat approve of how President Donald Trump handles the presidency.

Congressman Barletta hopes to unseat the Democrat senator in the 2018 midterm elections. Barletta was one of the first Republican congressmen to endorse Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican presidential primaries and has championed Trump’s America First agenda of building a wall, cracking down on illegal immigration, and combatting sanctuary cities.

Last week, Barletta chastised Sen. Casey for supporting sanctuary cities. Juan Ramon Vasquez, a 46-year old Honduran national, was sentenced to two years in jail for entering the country illegally. Vasquez raped a five-year-old after Philadelphia, a sanctuary city, ignored an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer and released him.

Barletta asked rhetorically in a statement to Breitbart News, “How would Bob Casey justify his support for sanctuary cities to the family of the little girl who was raped? Does Bob Casey believe it was a sanctuary city for them?”

Sen. Casey voted against legislation in 2016 to defund sanctuary cities, including Philadelphia, as well as Kate’s Law, which imposes harsher penalties on illegal immigrants who re-enter the United States. Kate’s Law would have hit Vasquez, who re-entered the country after being deported.

“If someone is deported for a criminal conviction then we need to make sure they are prevented from ever coming back into this country,” Sen. Casey said in a 2016 statement.

Generic Congressional Ballot Is Dead Even

For the first time in months, Democrats and Republicans are tied on the Rasmussen Reports Generic Congressional Ballot.

The latest telephone and online survey finds that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters would choose the Democratic candidate if the elections for Congress were held today. Another 44% would now opt for the Republican. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here

Look for Trump to really go after that 'Failed Socialist Mayor' the Dems nominated. Should make for a good show when he does his rallies down there.

Big time win for the GOP if they can flip that Nelson Senate seat red this November.

Rick Scott set to face Bill Nelson in Florida's high-stakes Senate race

Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) is set to face off against Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) in what is expected to be one of the most closely watched - and expensive - Senate races of 2018.

Scott, a two-term governor, easily secured the Republican nomination to challenge Nelson on Tuesday, with The Associated Press projecting he won 89 percent of the vote. He faced only nominal primary opposition from perennial candidate Rocky De La Fuente, who is on the ballot in several states.

Nelson was uncontested for the Democratic Senate nomination.

Republicans have set their sights on taking out Nelson, a longtime lawmaker who has served in the Senate since 2001.

Scott has wasted no time in mounting an aggressive campaign against the senior Florida senator, spending millions in the state's notoriously expensive media markets to air attack ads.

Nelson has been far outspent by Scott, a wealthy health care executive, who has already dropped more than $20 million of his personal funds on his Senate bid.

So far, the Florida governor has dropped more than $27.7 million on the race.

Nelson, on the other hand, has spent just over $6 million, according to recent federal filings, leading to concerns he is being too complacent.

Both candidates have been dogged by unflattering headlines in recent weeks. Scott has faced questions about potential conflicts of interest arising from his investments, and accusations of favoring political donors for contracts and jobs.

For his part, Nelson has continued to face questions about a comment made to the Tampa Bay Times earlier this month suggesting that Russian hackers had penetrated voting systems throughout Florida.

Barack Obama's return: good or bad for Democrats?

Obama's return poses challenges for both the former president and his party. For one, Obama has struggled to turn admiration for him into votes when he's not on the ballot. Democrats lost significant ground in the 2010 and 2014 midterms and his enthusiastic campaigning for Hillary Clinton didn't carry her across the finish line in 2016. Perhaps more importantly, Obama's public re-entry into politics could serve as a motivating factor for Republicans, potentially handing the GOP a gift at a time when they face an uphill battle to maintain their grip on Congress.

"This is perfect for us," said Rep. Lou Barletta, the Republican challenging Casey for the Senate seat. "It will energize Republicans as a reminder."

The former president will also "energize those blue-collar Democrats who worried about their jobs under Obama and went out to vote for Donald Trump," Barletta added.

New Senate race poll drops — and it’s bad news for Beto

Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has a nine-point lead in his bid for reelection, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

With seven weeks until Election Day, Cruz has a 54 percent to 45 percent lead over Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso among likely voters, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.

“The Texas U.S. Senate race between Sen. Ted Cruz and Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and Democratic hopes for an upset win there, have boosted talk of a Senate takeover,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the poll. “These numbers may calm that talk.

“Congressman O’Rourke may be drawing big crowds and media attention, but Texas likely voters like Sen. Cruz better.”

Ninety-three percent of likely Texas voters say their mind is already made up in this race, which has been more competitive than expected in a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide office in more than 20 years.

Tuesday’s poll comes nearly two months after a previous Quinnipiac poll, which looked at registered voters, showed Cruz with 49 percent of the vote to O’Rourke’s 43 percent. A Texas Lyceum poll released that same day showed Cruz with a slim lead of 41 percent to O’Rourke’s 39 percent.

Poll officials warn that Tuesday’s poll is their first survey of likely voters “and can not be compared to earlier surveys of registered voters.”

Breaking it down
Cruz has support from men, 57 percent who say they’ll vote for Cruz, and white voters, 66 percent who say they’ll vote for Cruz.

Women aren’t as sharply divided in this race, with 50 percent supporting Cruz and 48 percent supporting O’Rourke.

At the same time, 97 percent of black voters and 54 percent of Hispanic voters say they’ll support O’Rourke, the poll shows.

While Cruz has support from 94 percent of Republicans and O’Rourke has support from 94 percent of Democrats, Independent voters are leaning toward O’Rourke, with 51 percent saying they’ll support him and 47 percent supporting Cruz, the poll shows.

This Quinnipiac survey was conducted Sept. 11-17, reaching 807 likely voters on landlines and cell phones. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

The poll also shows that Republican Gov. Greg Abbott leads 58-39 over Democrat Lupe Valdez in his re-election bid.

And Texans are divided on the job approval rating for President Donald Trump. They are split 49-49, according to the poll.

Republican wins Texas Special Election...Hillary won district by 12!!!

Flores defeats Gallego in Senate District 19

Voters elected political newcomer Pete Flores to the Texas Senate on Tuesday, flipping a Democratic district red for the first time in 139 years and bolstering Republicans’ supermajority in the chamber ahead of the November elections.

A retired game warden, Flores defeated former state and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego for the Senate District 19 seat after receiving backing from some of the state’s most prominent politicians, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and U.S. Sens John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

We conservatives are conservative in the way we make approaches. The gunfight’s not over until the last shot’s fired,” Flores told the Express-News after Gallego conceded in a phone call just before 9 p.m. “The last shot’s been fired.”

According the Secretary of State’s website, Flores won with 53 percent of the vote to Gallego’s 47 percent with 44,487 ballots cast.

Flores and Gallego competed in Tuesday’s runoff after emerging from an eight-candidate field in first- and second-place, respectively, in July’s special election to replace former Sen. Carlos Uresti. The longtime lawmaker vacated his seat in June after being convicted of 11 felony charges.

Voters elected political newcomer Pete Flores to the Texas Senate on Tuesday, Sep. 18. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick addressed the watch party in San Antonio.

Media: San Antonio Express-News
In his victory speech, Flores reflected about the historic significance of his win and the job ahead.

“This district has not been Republican since Reconstruction. And in September of 2018, it’s Republican once again,” Flores told supporters. “The work starts tomorrow.”

Christian Archer, Gallego’s campaign strategist, said he was shocked by the results, adding that they weren’t able to generate as much excitement as the Republicans.

“I don’t have any regrets, but I have a lot of disappointment,” Archer said.

Flores’ win marked an incredible upset in a district that political observers said shouldn’t have been competitive for Republicans. Low turnout in special elections and high-level GOP interests in preserving a Senate supermajority helped push Flores across the line, they said.

“It will provide a completely unexpected gift for Republicans for the next legislative session,” said Mark Jones, a professor of political science at Rice University.

Jones said Flores’ victory all but assured a Republican supermajority next year, which would allow Senate Republicans to bring bills to the floor without any Democratic support

“Tonight, I doubt anyone other than Pete Flores is happier than Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick,” Jones said.

Indeed, Patrick was jubilant at Flores’ victory party at Don Pedro’s restaurant on San Antonio’s Southwest Side.

“Tonight, you all just made history,” Patrick told supporters. “For the first time in history, we have 21 Republican senators. For the first time in history, we have a Hispanic Republican senator.”

Patrick, who spent around $175,000 on Flores’ campaign, said the supermajority was secured Tuesday night.

“This guy gives us a two-thirds majority,” he said.

Late Tuesday, the Republican Party of Texas also touted Flores’ win.

“Congratulations to Peter Flores on his stunning victory in SD 19 tonight — a thrilling win for Peter Flores, the citizens of SD 19 and Republicans across Texas,” Chairman James Dickey said in a statement.

More than 25,000 Texans voted in the early voting period and by mail before Tuesday. Some county election officials said they’ve seen higher turnout in the runoff than the special election a few months ago.

Brandon Rottinghaus, a professor of political science at the University of Houston and author of “Inside Texas Politics,” credited Gallego’s loss to complacency.

Earlier Tuesday, he said Flores’ candidacy energized state GOP leaders who saw the district as a potential steal.

In Medina County, a line started to form at the polling location in Castroville around 4:30 p.m.

Hilda Mendoza, the election judge there, said turnout was higher than expected, which she said was likely because the election pitted a Republican against a Democrat.

“It was an enormous ... increase” from the special election across Devine, Hondo and Castroville, Mendoza said.

Voters in the heavily-Republican district said they were confident Flores would win. Others said they did not want to elect Gallego, who previously represented the county.

“We’ve had Pete Gallego and I wasn’t happy with what he did before,” Marie Rowe said.

In Bexar County, Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen said turnout was relatively low, but impressive for a special election.

“They’re voting like crazy,” Callanen said.

At around 6:30 p.m., as pollsters were packing up “Vote Here” signs at Collier Elementary School in South San Antonio, Jose Duran cast his ballot for Gallego.

“The seat was empty. You have to fill it with somebody,” Duran said. He preferred Gallego because of his experience in government, he said.

Ruben Trejo, who also voted in the final hour, said the choice was simple: He’s a Democrat, so he also chose Gallego.

The last Republican to hold the seat was Andrew Phelps McCormick. According to the Legislative Library of Texas, he left office in 1879.

Democrat Ben Jealous Struggles in Blue Maryland

Ben Jealous compared his decisive Maryland Democratic primary victory in June to climbing the world's second-highest mountain — a prelude, he hopes, to ascending the state's political Mount Everest to knock off popular Republican Gov. Larry Hogan. Instead, Jealous has had to reverse course in recent weeks after some highly publicized missteps.

Badly outmatched in fundraising in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1, Jealous is struggling so far to become Maryland's first black governor and prevent the first re-election of a Republican governor in the heavily blue state since 1954.

Voters have elected just two black governors in U.S. history — in 2006 in Massachusetts and 1989 in Virginia. Jealous is one of three black candidates running for governor this year, along with Democrats Stacey Abrams of Georgia and Andrew Gillum of Florida. Jealous is facing the steepest challenge of the three, running against an incumbent while Abrams and Gillum are running for open seats.

A Goucher College poll released Wednesday indicated a staggering gap between Hogan and Jealous, with Hogan leading by 22 percentage points, 54 percent to 32 percent. The poll by the Sarah T. Hughes Field Politics Center was conducted Tuesday to Sunday. It found Hogan had the support of 38 percent of Democrats. The poll of 831 Maryland adults had a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.

Student Pilot Sneaks Onto Plane, Causes Fla. Airport Lockdown
The Jealous campaign says the poll is underestimating the number of voters they believe will turn out in November in a heavily Democratic state.

"It shows that public pollsters, just as they did in 2014 when they had Larry Hogan down by 17 points in October, continue to underestimate voter turnout dynamics,'' said Kevin Harris, a senior adviser to Jealous' campaign.

Texas is at least another 10 years away from electing a Democrat in my opinion

This is the reason the Republicans must embrace a more Nationalist identity or just vanish.

Strict enforcement of the border and controlled immigration will ensure a solid wage for middle class.

You do that and you secure Florida, Ohio and Texas.

Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and even Minnesota come into play at that point.

Cruz is just sweating now because he is so well known and let's face it, he's a contentious guy and people will come out on both sides.

If this is John Cornyn running for re election we are not even having this discussion. He runs away with a double digit victory easy

Tenn. Democrat aims for Senate win by edging away from party

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Phil Bredesen is a Democrat. But he'd rather you not mention that.

"I need to make clear to everybody my independence from all of the national Democratic stuff," said Bredesen, the former two-term governor of Tennessee who is now running for the U.S. Senate.

So far, his strategy appears to be working. According to internal polling by both parties, Bredesen has a narrow lead over Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn in a state that President Donald Trump won by 26 points, and capturing the open seat would strengthen Democrats' chances of taking back control of the Senate in the November elections.

Bredesen represents the irony facing Democrats this fall. The party is moving to the left but its prospects of regaining the Senate hinge on decidedly moderate candidates running in states Trump carried by a wide margin.

With just over six weeks until Election Day, one of Bredesen's biggest challenges may be divorcing his race from Democrats' overall Senate chances.

Asked whether he wanted former President Barack Obama or other party leaders to join him campaigning before Election Day, Bredesen said simply, "No."

Republican Party Favorability Highest in Seven Years

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

* Republican favorability at 45%, Democrats at 44%

* Democrats generally have had the upper hand in favorability ratings

* Major gains for Republican Party within the party, including leaners

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Forty-five percent of Americans now have a favorable view of the Republican Party, a nine-point gain from last September's 36%. It is the party's most positive image since it registered 47% in January 2011, shortly after taking control of the House in the 2010 midterm elections. Forty-four percent give the Democratic Party a favorable rating.

Line graph. Forty-five percent of Americans view the Republican Party favorably; 44% say the same of Democrats.
The parity in Republicans' and Democrats' favorable ratings marks a change from what has generally been the case since Barack Obama's election as president in November 2008. Republicans have usually been rated less positively than Democrats over this time, with the Republican Party's favorability rating for the last decade averaging 39%, compared with the Democratic Party's 44%.

Only one other time in the last decade has the Republican Party had a significantly higher score than the Democratic Party. That one exception came in November 2014, immediately after elections that saw Republicans capture control of the Senate and expand their majority in the House, when 42% rated the GOP favorably and 36% the Democrats.

Republicans Now More Likely to View Their Party Favorably
The overall increase in the favorable image of the Republican Party is a result of a jump in the positive views of Republicans, including independents who lean toward the party. The percentage of Republicans and leaners with favorable views of their party grew from 67% last September to 85% now.

At the time of last September's poll, congressional Republicans were in the final throes of an unsuccessful attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as "Obamacare," and were losing a highly publicized battle with Democrats over a debt ceiling bill. Since then, Republicans have passed a tax cut bill that was supported by a vast majority of Republicans, and the economy has continued to make gains under the Republican administration of Donald Trump.

Two other major subgroups that tend to be more Republican than the overall population -- men and those living in middle-income households -- have become more likely to view the Republican Party favorably in the past year.

Ellison seeks House ethics investigation of abuse allegation

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison said Wednesday he's requesting a House Ethics Committee investigation into the allegation of physical abuse from an ex-girlfriend that is clouding his bid for attorney general and complicating Democrats' push to investigate allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Karen Monahan said last month Ellison dragged her off a bed by her feet while screaming obscenities at her. She claimed to have video footage of the 2016 incident but has declined to release it. Ellison, a longtime and fiercely liberal congressman from Minneapolis and deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has denied it ever happened.
