Major hotels will eventually get security like current airports have. And I fully agree with it. I don't necessarily blame The Mandalay Bay Hotel for it's complacency and security protocols, but I do believe that there now needs to be a change in major hotels, worldwide.

From now on, just like airports, you need to go through a metal detector and an X-Ray machine to check in.

Under these new security measures, there is no way a man would be able to smuggle 23 guns into a hotel.

It takes people dying for shit to change.

No one will be able to afford that or want to deal w the hastle

Afford what? This is the new cost of doing business. If privacy goes out of the window for the airports, it now needs to do the same for hotels.

Hotels should not harbor terrorists.

Giving up more freedom in exchange for a false sense of "safety."

Put check points everywhere! Law abiding citizens have no worries. Only criminals worry about shit like this.

This particular incident could have been avoided.

Have you stayed at a hotel in recent years?

Have you stayed at a hotel in recent years?
What does that mean? Hotels have 10% of the traffic, of major airports. Would you sacrifice an extra 20 minutes, to save lives?

So does this apply to your run of the mill Marriot Residence Inn in podunk Florida or just Hotels you think pose a threat?

The local Days Inn can't afford this .

It applies to all major hotels, in all major cities.

Terrorists don't make national news in "podunk anywhere".

Not necessarily. After mass shootings, when family members are interviewed, they have often (not always) give some indication about the shooters life--depressed, past suicidal attempts, etc. Something that may give some indication about a motive or not. This guy seemed totally oblivious. I wonder how often he talked with his brother.

I wondered this too about his brother. It sometimes appears that folks including family and friends will say anything that provides them 15 minutes of fame.

It is natural for folks to want to make sense of horrible acts of violence. Chances are, we'll never really know what caused Stephen Paddock to break. We're still guessing what made other serial killers tick, folks like Ted Bundy and Timothy McVeigh.

This would kill Vegas. Each of the main casinos thrive on the many tens of thousands of people whom walk in and out of the casinos each day. Three to four main entrances , security on these at airport levels would turn away most if not all but the ones needing to get to their rooms.  Plus can you imagine screening tens of thousands of drunk people with booze in their hands?

Conspiracy theorists want so desperately to turn this into a tale of international intrigue that they don’t want to recognize that this was a very simple operation easily doable by one person.
Where's your p r o o f?
Prove he acted alone and had no aid in some way shape or form.

A reporter starts asking the Sheriff about the car, someone coughs, then someone says "Don't go there"  to the Sheriff. Look at the FBI agent's face as he thinks the Sheriff is about to answer the question. But then the Sheriff goes on to just give a non-answer.

From now on, just like airports, you need to go through a metal detector and an X-Ray machine to check in.

Not sure if that's going to happen (too much inconvenience for guests) and if it does, is it really going to make any difference. You could do the same thing from any high rise condo with a view to a concert venue. Just get a room from Airbnb. Check Grant park in Chicago. A ton of condos face that way and the killer considered targeting Lollapalooza.

I think the biggest problem with shit like this is that it inspires sick minds to do similar stuff and try to "break the record". Internet has made it possible for anyone to become famous overnight. In this case for wrong reasons obviously. But if you're mentally ill or have just decided that your life is boring and there's no reason to live and you're a psycho, then we will be seeing this more and more in the future. Nothing's really changed from 50 years ago except instant fame. High rises have been there, automatic weapons have been there etc. I bet right now there are many many sick people there thinking how this number of 58 people dead can be beat. More and more attacks will target large events where there's a sea of people unable to look for cover quickly.

I wish people would stop believing that we can legislate our way to safety.

"If we only give up this right then we will be safe, if we only give up this liberty then will be safe, if we only let the government monitor everything we do then then we will be safe"

On and on and on until you are a slave.  FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

To guarantee and increase their own power and wealth is one reason.  Also because they are controlled by satan.
