What he doesn't grasp is that the volume training I do, SAFELY, in this weight/rep range helps both work capacity, helps maintain muscle, doesn't result in injury, gets my HR really high, etc. Not too heavy, not too light. I'm not going for 1-3 rep maxes w 5 minutes in between sets. If I were a powerlifter competing for that, no way I would train like I do.
I've maxed out my genetic potential naturally years ago. Bhanks maybe never did, so who knows what his goals are? But my .02 is focusing solely on "hypertrophy" as a 47 yo is stupid and ridiculous if it comes at the expense of everything else.
