How is it not an athletic event?
 so if I can curl more than you that makes me stronger than you yes?
My best friend and former training partner could outdo me on pull-ups or chins by a wide margin.  He was usually about 50-60 pounds lighter, but made up for that (and more) with added weight on a dip belt.  At 170-175, he could hang 135 from his waist and nail a good 8-10 reps, strict, full ROM.  Had he ever done a cycle, I have no doubt he could've done chins with 180.
However, his flat bench 1RM was ~275.  He was a terrible squatter and struggled like a madman to use maybe 60% of my natty working set weights.
In brief, I destroyed the guy on literally every other lift.  I could easily rep out* poundages that he would be lucky to lift for singles.  (*In my universe, "repping out" means something you can do with good form for 12+ reps.)
Was he stronger than me?
