I'm not so sure, Tom...I mean, maybe. It's all so idiotic. But keep in mind that Australians have far fewer guns, and thus far less ability to deal with government overreach.

Australians gave up a lot of their guns after the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre, where 35 people were killed.
So, the government did a gun buyback program, and - like absolute morons - the LEGAL & LAW ABIDING Australians thought "HEY! That's a brilliant idea! If the LAW ABIDING AUSTRALIANS WHO OWN GUNS return them, gun crime will go away!"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Leftist/liberal stupidity at its finest [although if I recall correctly - "Liberal" is a right-leaning political term in Australia, but I could be wrong about that].
Anyway, what's going on in Australia is exactly what happens when the government doesn't fear its own citizens. It's also an example of why YOU NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS, EVER.
It's easy for some smug Canadian to trash Americans for being racist - easy for us to say with a 1% Black population. Now that Canada's Black population has gone up to 2%, a lot more Canadians are seeing why people are "racist".
Likewise, in Australia, they had no idea why Americans cling to their guns to the point they do.
But now that their government is straight up going out of hand, going nuts, abusing their own people, I think more of them are starting to see it. If they aren't - then chalk them up to being a lost cause.
Can you BELIEVE the morons in Australia are still putting people on house arrest, and shooting for "Covid Zero"? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Meanwhile, Sweden, Denmark, and how many other countries are fully open? Sweden this whole time. Florida and Texas, just about this whole time.
I just hope Australians learn a lesson from all this. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I can tell you - Canadians are only JUST NOW starting to see how out of hand this USELESS government response has done which has done NOTHING to stop the spread of Covid, and EVERYTHING to destroy the economy, to the tune of ONE TRILLION dollars in debt - and this is CANADA. We are not the USA. That is equal to TEN TRILLION in debt for the USA.
Luckily, Canadians have more guns, so there is only so much government abuse we are going to take. Our Liberal Party government is doing everything possible to restrict legal gun rights in this country, but I would be shocked if any current Canadian gun owners give up their guns, the way that Australians stupidly did in 1996.
