You are overly enamored with your mediocre intellect.

And you?   You are a manlette, deserving of death by fauvid.  FOAD you pusillanimous pile of peace.   Now then, go fuck you dead granny, whole ass.  The best part of life is you are mortal.  Barrel  boy has returned I see.

People say how intelligent Frank is. I never saw much intelligence. His masters degree isn't in anything scientific. All that crap about meditation. What isn't disputable is Frank had an ego rivaling Arnold's and that isn't something to boast about. Did Frank invent any excellent equipment for bodybuilding? Did Arnold?

I have to agree based on the interviews I have listened to. He's a bore and while not dumb I've never heard him say anything really impressive either. Kind of pedantic and bland. All his new age bullshit was like he read Johnathan Livingston Seagull and had an epiphany.

Going into the 77 Olympia he'd repeat to himself that "he's gonna be Mr. OLYMPIA " he'd say this a thousand times a day. Thats a good summary of Frank. Boring and pretentious  .

He sure as hell looked cool though.

Imagine my surprise to see Frank Zane's biography. Why? Well, I put an enhanced photo of Frank on One Mile Beach at Forster and sent the original size to Frank. He sent the email back unopened because he said he doesn't accept email from someone he doesn't know! He was at my place in Manly in the late seventies with Robert Nailon. When I arrived they were in our lounge. Robert liked being there because we were on the 15th floor overlooking the beach. Arnold was there in 1974. First thing Frank said to me was, "You don't have to go to Disneyland!" I asked him why not? "Because you have been in Fantasyland all your life!" He and Robert both laughed out loud. I instantly disliked Frank at that moment. Frank was referring to a comment I made after winning Mr Canada in 1970 where I said my ambition was to beat Frank Zane. I knew he had a masters degree and I was working on mine at the time. However, I didn't detect any great intellect in Frank. In 1980 Nailon took Frank and Christine back to the Hilton Hotel in Sydney after Frank placed 3rd in the Olympia. Robert parked his car and raced back up to their room. As he was about to knock on the door he listened and could hear someone crying inside. When Christine opened the door she told Robert that Frank didn't want any company then. Robert raced back to the Opera House just as the boat with Arnold and everyone aboard had departed. Thanks, Frank. I guess Frank had read my remark and that is why he claimed he didn't open my email with the original photo inside. Well, lo and behold, he now uses part of the photo in his biography! Amazing backflip.

Wes, I hope you realize that everyone is entitled to their opinion about who should have won whatever contest?

Who is to judge who's opinion is best? Can't be done on discussion forums.

Competitive? Hardly. What older guys do is wait for the good guys to not be in the same class or have some injury! Over 80 competitors are very few so the chances improve. In reality competing doesn't mean much. Just some old farts doing things older men should refrain from doing. Bodybuilding is the best activity for older guys. You just don't train but have to stimulate hypertrophy is some muscles. Then the body adapts and voila some benefits. We are told we lose size and strength as we get older. Well, I discovered that didn't apply to me when I reached 70. I could still get my arms as big as when I competed almost 50 years ago. At 80 my triceps are bigger than they have ever been. Just one exercise once a week and there they are. No drugs at all. Vitamin D and Magnesium to avoid cramps. Nothing else. Don't need any hormone replacement therapy either.
The red on my neck and arm is from doing some welding.

I understand exactly what you mean about being less older guys around competing.......cuts the field considerably, but you`ll train harder and more consistantly if you have a goal in sight.....I know I always did.

Good luck !  :)

For sure Vince....but my opinion is the only one that truly matters.  LOL  ;D

To each his own Vince.....you`re right....we like what we like, and most times nobody could sway a persons personal preferance or opinion.

I did a side by side comparison with myself at my best vs Frank. Had I gone to LA instead of Australia in 1971 I would have been motivated to train hard and beat a guy like Zane. I never reached my potential because I didn't want to do the heavy anabolic stuff. 2 Dianabol a day for 50 days is what I took about 3 times in my career. 1970, 1975 and 1977. I stopped Dianabol when I tore my right biceps doing a stupid deadlift with 509 pounds. I did a standing press with 270 pounds at the time. With no training for the lift.

And you?  You remind me of an orangutan trying to play the violin.  In case you are wondering (and you are) it means you are annoying and smelly ape.

Somehow I fear I am insulting the orangutan.
LMFAO!

Arnold arrived in LA first week of October 1968. I was there for the month as well and saw him at Golds, Venice.
