Seems the best way for me to lean out. Nothing magical about it- you just eat less.
But I have found that I no longer get hunger pangs which is why most diets fail. I eat 2000 kcal a day, with 500 in the morning about 10 AM and 1500 at dinner time which is 6-8 PM range. I'll even snack up to 10 PM is I feel hungry enough. I just stick to 2000+/- 100 kcal.
Started out at 210 pounds three weeks ago. Now 202. Target weight is 190. I feel and look the best in the high 180's.
If I feel slight hunger I drink a Zevia which for me is the best 0 cal drink out there.
And I haven't found any loss of strength or energy. I did a 50 K training race (bicycle) last night and finished top 10. Weight lifting poundage are the same- I just lift for maintenance these days since I've hit my natural limit.

I avoid heavily processed foods because they have so much garbage in them! I pretty much stick to meat/vegetables/fruit/dairy and some whole wheat products.
I'm not a fan of shakes- I usually get a stomach ache from them.

Do you actually want to get in shape? Stop thinking you can just starve away 25lbs to be in shape. Dieting down 25lbs on a 2k calorie diet is not even close to sustainable. Double the fucking calories and take your lazy ass to the gym and start doing hundreds of reps a day. You will gain muscle burn off fat and change your body into a fat burning calorie consuming machine. That is how you actually get in long term shape not by starving on 2k calories back to your high school weight because you have no fucking metabolism because you barely work out are insulin resistant and are carrying 25lbs of extra fat.

60 is usually limit on these things but today I pushed another six hours. Probably could’ve cruised to dinner tonight. I’ll do another in the fall. Might try and make it to 72 hours. This was the easiest time I’ve done it, the first day is the worst but if you keep busy it makes it easier. I tiled my office after work the past two nights. Came home after dinner. I still did my cardio in the morning and just drank three caffeine drinks a day.

so you're "fasting" from 10pm to 10 am
how is that any different than what most people do?
Most IM protocols are fasting for 16 hours (or more) and eating within an 8 hour window
sounds like all you're doing is counting calories and getting into a deficit

When I travel, 8-10 long flight , airport transit 1-4 h, another flight 1 - 3 h, + 1 h car/train !.

Fucking nonsense I am tired and want to go to bed but I have 3 kosher bun length hotdogs 2 buns and a can of chili beans and will add 2 pieces of cheese cooking for a midnight snack. I am going to wash it down with lemonade when I add that all up its 1650 calories for a snack!!! I ate my meals earlier Why because I actually train and I am sore and hungry and I need some godamn calories to recover while I sleep. Meanwhile y'all talking about jailhouse rations. I eat your daily rations 3-4 times a day. Don't even pretend you are training right eating like a bird. You are just starving away your fat that is not the same as working out and getting in shape. No idea why people think they can just starve themselves back to their glory days when they were 20lbs lighter 20 years younger and actually in some kind of shape. It doesn't work that way. You have to eat and exercise to ramp up your metabolism to get in shape. Starvation is not part of the process and certainly never step 1

Do it on workdays more so because of convenience than trying to loose weight. Can’t be bothered to eat in morning rather lie down and drink cups of tea till leave, also working hard on full stomach is very unpleasant feeling so it just works better not eating till mid day

I've been intermittent fasting for over 1.5 years now and its allowed me to lose the most amount of fat ever. I only eat within a 3 hour window in the evening and I eat whatever I want during those 3 hours.
I do work out at least 3 days of the week as well, but man, the fasting definitely works.

No one is supposed to be dieting if you workout you can just eat until you are full. No one needs to be counting any damn calories. You can't be addicted to working out and not in shape needing to diet sorry no that is not how it works.

Day in, day out, it really is the easiest way for any non-drug using person to stay lean.
As for any studies that say it's more muscle than fat, we are probably talking immaterial amounts, and the relative ease and convenience the IFer experiences may be worth the .054lb of additional muscle they may be "sacrificing".
Put another way, switching from 4-5x eating a day to IF isn't going to make someone who works out lose all their muscle. The body adapts.

I have trained many years with professional cyclists. In fact I put up one guy at my house for three years in South Carolina while he raced in the US. He is currently riding in the Tour de France as I write this- he rides for Trek.
His typical training week while in SC was about 20 hours, or 300+ miles. His calorie burn rate was off the charts. Funny though because he was on a strict diet at the same time. I asked him why count calories and he said because he'd get fat, lol

It has nothing to do with drugs do you know how many pro bodybuilders are fat fucks in the off season on a ton of drugs? It has to do with your activity level. First off how the fuck did anyone get an extra 20-50lbs of fat on them to start???? Do you realize how out of tune you have to be with your body for that to happen? We have natural limiters like hunger satiation and indigestion to prevent that kind of stuff. Its not about burning x many calories in a workout. It is about raising your all day 24/7 metabolism through exercise. You need to burn more fat? Do more reps. It takes calories to repair damaged muscle tissue. You want to get lean you have to make your bodies natural weight it's lean weight you do that through resistance training. Your body becomes less insulin resistant it is repairing muscle tissue all day everyday. When you train your body will tell you when it needs more or less food as you get in tune with what is going on. You don't need to count any damn calories you just need to get up off the damn couch. Every fat slob thinking they can starve themselves into shape is a fucking moron that is not how it works. Your muscles are shit after weeks of starvation. You are not strong and in shape you are just thinner and less fat you are also now insulin resistant with no metabolism. The body does adapt to starvation rations it lowers your metabolism and eats your muscle so now you have no energy and are soft and small below your natural weight hence then here comes the yo yo effect back to your natural weight with even less muscle than you had to start. You are now softer and fatter and planning to cut even more calories next time and starve yourself longer brilliant

It is a natural way to eat as well. Eating 3 to 6 meals a day is a modern way of eating. Humans do not need to eat more than once a day.

My blood pressure is not high. I am lean because I have been an active athletic person my entire life. I have never had a belly in 43 years. You think I just popped out of the womb and started taking 10iu of HGH a day? You know how I keep track of counting calories and macros my godamn body tells me when I am hungry and when I am full and what it wants to eat. That is my entire godamn point when you are working out not drinking or partying and in tune with your body it is self fucking regulating. No one here needs to be counting calories and macros they need to be listening to their body and feeding it what it wants to eat. If you are working out your body doesn't want twinkies it will demand quality food.

That is why you need start with training not calorie counting as people who don't train are not in tune with their body. Once you start training your ghelrin and other hormones will start functioning and signaling properly your body self regulates when it is given proper exercise it will tell you exactly what to eat how much and when if you give it a chance by exercising and being active not starving yourself sitting on the couch with nothing happening inside.

The point is some people have more fat cells to grow and shrink from birth than others you can also increase them during childhood and they are set in adulthood. So if you were lean and athletic as a child you have a huge lifelong advantage over someone who was not. I wrestling and dieted for wrestling during puberty. I also started swim team at 3 and my single mother was too busy working to cook. I have less fat cells to grow than most people.

You hold off eating longer than normal- so yes, you could think of it as combining meals.
What is does for me is to break the cycle of eating based on habit and eating instead because of hunger. The concept of three separate meals a day really is an invention of the industrial revolution. If you go back in history, people generally ate only once or twice a day (post hunter gatherer stage).
It still just gets down to eating less calories, but I find my hunger pangs have nearly disappeared between meals, so its easier to eat less.

You are born with some.
They expand and contract if you get fatter or lose weight.
If you get really fat they can multiply so don't get fat.
They can reduce in numbers but it takes a very long time and you must maintain a low cal diet so it's very difficult and practically impossible.

It works great.
The best shape i've been in was when i was IM.
Two big meals a day, no carbs after 5pm.
Fast for 14-16 hours a day.
Lost 42 pounds in 4 months and kept it off once i slowly started eating normally. Was ripped and still strong.
Great for your health too.

I cannot imagine losing 42 lbs. because I was never heavy enough to be able to to that without ending up looking like a skeleton....again. Meaning, as a teenager I was skinny to to point of looking like an escapee from a consentration camp. All of my adult life, I have done everything I can to never look like that again.

When I first started IF 11pm at night to about 3-4pm the next afternoon was my window. But now I've adapted and I pretty much just eat once at 8pm at night now. I have a couple snacks before I go to bed too. I'm not hungry all day my energy is great for lifting and cardio. Never thought it could be so easy to be lean. Wish I did this my whole life

I was a little heavy at the time, hadn't been lifting/eating seriously. So i had some extra fat.
Started at 238ish pounds and ended around 195ish.
I was ripped, had veins in my abs and saw lines i hadn't seen in years.
People thought i was sick, my face was narrow and my clothes didn't fit.
Had to buy new clothes because i hadn't been that lean in a decade.
This was 6-7 years ago.
After 6 months i only gained back 8 pounds and held it for years. But i stayed on a good diet. Moderate fasting.
My health profiles were perfect, BP better than ever.
This is why i never try to go over 220 pounds anymore. I want to be healthy.
IM is a great program for anyone who commits to it.

It's manageable. You can sneak in snacks and a few small meals once you dial it in.
I still do it today, just not so hardcore.
I basically eat 3 meals from 10am - 8pm. ~1800 cals.
No direct carbs after 5pm. Just meat and veggies.
Sometimes i snack on popcorn and nuts late in the evening.
My health is perfect, i feel great and i'm still strong as can be.
Sometimes i eat whatever i want when i'm out of town, then just get back on my program when i'm home.
On Saturday i went out with my GF, pigged out on burgers, fries and beers. I swelled up nicely. Then on Sunday lots of tacos, beans and burritos. Starting Monday i'm back on track, no damage done.
Late on Sunday my GF commented that i looked different, i was full and vascular. She knows about my diet and likes it. I typically can look a little flat.
It's easy to manage.
