Musclephone alert came through as soon as the new came out. Craig Titus was sentenced to 21-55 years. Kelly Ryan was sentenced 6-26 years in prison. Craig Titus pleaded guilty on May 30 to second-degree murder, kidnapping and arson. Kelly Ryan pleaded guilty to arson and Nevada’s equivalent of no contest to battery with a deadly weapon. According the sources, Kelly read a statement, and could not stop crying. Then Craig came up, said he was sorry, and called himself a coward for his acts, and apoligized. Then Maura James came up, and begged the judge for the maximum sentence, and asked for a gag order on Craig and Kelly. The judge decided not to impose a gag order, then procedeed to lecture Craig and Kelly, and then he threw the book at them, and gave them whatever he could. Kelly’s sentence of 6 to 26 years means that in 6 years, she will be eligible for parole, although she has served close to 3 years, with a maximum of 26 years she can spend in jail. Craig”s sentence of 21 to 51 years means that in 21 years, he will be eligible for parole in 21 years, less time served already.
It was a good weekend in Dallas, as Toney Freeman beat Dennis James again in a rematch from last weeks Tampa Pro Bodybulding contest. However, Fouad Abiad placed ahead of an incredible Will Harris to garner that coveted Olympia qualification, which had Fouad in tears backstage with the change to compete in his dream contest. Another incredible competitor, Tarek Elsetouhi came on strong too, coming in 5th, and leaving Darrem Charles out in 6th place. In the first IFBB Tampa pro show that I can remember that has been held in Tampa, Florida, Toney Freeman barely won over a muscular Dennis James to win the Men’s Bodybuilding contest. Just how close was it. At the end of the third round, Toney and Dennis were tied, and the final comparison and posedown round decided it. David Henry, the winner of the 202lbs and Under, took third also at this contest, while Darrem Charles took 4th. Two top contenders, are are poised to make a big splash in the coming months and years, is Fouad Abiad from Canada (who took 5th), and Tarek Elsetouhi from Germany (who took 7th). Thanks to Tim and Brandi Gardner, who promoted this event. Here are the compelete scorecard results for the two IFBB pro shows. It was a great contest, with Brandon Curry winning the overall, while Curtis Bryant took the second pro card slot. Edward Nunn, who won the Super Heavyweight class, looked like he would of had a great chance to get that second pro card, but didn’t, and he is now the favorite for the 2008 NPC Nationals in Atlanta. Grigori Atoyan, the Super Heavyweight favorite, come in 3rd. But Brandon Curry didnt have it easy in winning his class. Michael Liberatore lost out in the Heavyweight battles by ONE point. Yes, one point, and is certainly a lock to win his class at the NPC Nationals now. Lee Banks also looked great too in this class. Roland Kickinger is a little busy these days, down in New Mexico filming the 4th movie in the Terminator Series, titled Terminator 4: Salvation: The Future Begins. The top three will be able to compete in the special Mr. Olympia 202 and Under contest. Total contest prize money is $3,000, but competitors can compete in both shows. As in the past 202lbs and under shows, these shows are designated to showcase the smaller bodybuilder, who often gets overlooked when the big guys are on stage.
