Strong dude.

Layne once again inspiring everyone by outlifting 99% of juicers as natural.

Tell me about it. I always laugh when people come on here and say "He isn't that strong." Not that strong compared to who - the finalists in the World's Strongest Man contest? ??? ??? ???
-
I like Layne....but thats a bicep tear waiting to happen.
-
Enter Dr.Chimps/Sperms in 3,2,1.... telling everybody what a douchebag Layne is because he = a bit vocal when he psyches himself up to lift heavy weights 8)

At least the gym was playing hardcore music during the time of the lift.

Yes!
Layne = good guy. :D
-
I like Layne....but thats a bicep tear waiting to happen.
nope, he uses double overhand grip, tears occur with underhand grip.
I bought straps so i could start using double overhand, i can't hold anything over 300lbs with double overhand grip without straps. So layne has insane grip strength aswell.

ALREADY TORE CHEST,,,LOL
-
ALREADY TORE CHEST,,,LOL
he was using elastic bands on the bar for powerlifitng training lol
-
Pretty good.
I always used to go down to maybe 1 inch off the ground then go up. Thought it kept more tension on the muscle and made the movement harder.
-
Strong dude, but Jesus Christ..... If he keeps that form up he will fuck his back and be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
Also, brutal orange shirted schmoe unashamedly staring and moving to get a better view.
-
people see no danger in doing that til something happens.
-
All prohormones.....

That's fucking awesome! Props to Layne!

Yep, basically you cheated and all your lifts are null and void.
Resetting is harder.
-
All prohormones.....
they are legal, so he considers himself as a natural.
-
All genetics.
-

Seems that way.........100% nachural! Hard work! That's it!
-
Tell me about it. I always laugh when people come on here and say "He isn't that strong." Not that strong compared to who - the finalists in the World's Strongest Man contest? ??? ??? ???
I think he is strong, no doubt. I think he is a strong natural. But I don't think he is excessively strong for what many naturals can (really) do. Truth is, there are just so few guys who are really committed to training right, eating right etc for long enough to get that strong.
-
Seems that way.........100% nachural! Hard work! That's it!
not that he doesn't work hard, as seen from his videos, the guys dedication is epic.
I dont know about offseason, call it "retard strength" but contest time im 100% sure he juices to some degree.
-
I like Layne....but thats a bicep tear waiting to happen.
nah. The only deadlift bicep tears I've seen has been from mixed grip.
-
Enter Dr.Chimps/Sperms in 3,2,1.... telling everybody what a douchebag Layne is because he = a bit vocal when he psyches himself up to lift heavy weights 8)
Nope. That was quite good. Was this vid edited so we didn't see see his gym stomp entrance? :D

You're pretty hardcore yourself you simian bastard! 8)
-
Why does he keep his legs so far apart. It looks like his knees buckle and it looks akward.
-

Pretty easy to do deadlifts when your knuckles drag on the ground, that's fer sure. :)
-
Why does he keep his legs so far apart. It looks like his knees buckle and it looks akward.
(I THINK) that it would be slightly easier to get down in that deep leg position he begins with without smashing his shins.
-

Still can't see what the issue you have with him is.

It might have something to do with Layme screaming FUK IT UP, charging through the gym, all showman style and other assorted items which, admitably, may be completely genuine and all enhancement for his own personal mental frame.
Personally these pre lift displays make my skin crawl (and probably chimps) - A lot like when I had to endure Kevin Levrone letting me know that he was projecting 100 pound dumbells "in my face". Just a bit layme.
But, you know, that's about it, it's not exactly a long list of problems, is it.

I think people should only have this opinion if they have reached a high level of strength...

And it's wonderful that you get to express your thinking (outside of work hours, of course, because nobody is going to be paying for that sort of nonsensical conclusion making).

well... HOW THE FUCCK CAN YOU DETERMINE WHETHER HE COULD PERFORM IN LIFT IN THE ABSENCE OFA PROPER PSYCHE WHICH IS INDIVIDUAL TO THE PERSON....
IT IS AN EXTENSION OF HIMSELF TO CREATE A PEAK PERFORMANCE... SOMETHING YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE A CONNECTION WITH...
JESUS CHRIST I DON'T KNOW HERE SOME OF YOU LOT COME FROM
BUT THAT LIFT IS FUCCKING IMPRESSIVE ESPECIALLY IN THE ABSENCE OF PEDS... TO HATE ON HIS PSYCHE UP IS RETARDED AND REDICULOUS.. ONCE AGAINIF YOU ARE THROWING THAT SORT OF POUNDAGE AROUND GO AHEAD...

Debussey's comment was based on the fact that Chimpsey seems to have problems not only with his "gym bravado", but also about how he writes his dvd reviews ect.
He seems to be very hung up in these details about Layne, yet fails to see how helpful he is to people ect.
-
good lord the little layne bastard is strong i think my best was like only 500 pounds. i guess layne thinks prohormones are natural?

you don't even have a gym membership?
-

I can't.
(Which is why I said that it may be completely useful for him - contrary to what you think I said).

this was years ago when i did have a membership
mind you im 28

Well once you're on that path, it's a difficult thing to avoid :)
-
But when it comes down to it, is he considered a powerlifter or a bodybuilder? Impressive lifts but what about his Physique? Does the lifts reflect a number 1 top natural bodybuilder?? 8)

Look, I'm sure he's a good guy and all, but the attention-whore/narcissist part of his persona is skeevy, is all. :)

Umm...not talking about that. Talking about how he squats down and then accelerates up. The rapid "straightening" of the arms is going to either cause a tear at the elbow or a SLAP lesion (where in the bicep tendon tears away from the labrum).
-
good lord the little layne bastard is strong i think my best was like only 500 pounds. i guess layne thinks prohormones are natural?
P.S. Layne is not on pro hormones. Care to display your proof of such?
-
Damn strong, uses alot of lower back in that lift but it seems to work for him. I also don't get the screaming and stomping thru the gym. That display, along with posing countless videos of himself, is a desperate cry for attention. I wonder what in Layne's life happened to cause such internal emptiness? Why the void Layne? Did daddy ignore you when you were a little guy?
-
Layne's strength is just crazy. I have always been impressed with his level of motiivation.
-
he is begging for a lower back injury
-
I always used to go down to maybe 1 inch off the ground then go up. Thought it kept more tension on the muscle and made the movement harder.
That's how I do it, too. I can go a bit heavier on those occasions when I floor it for each rep, but prefer to keep it off the ground.
Still impressive, though.
-
he is begging for a lower back injury
I've never heard of a serious deadlifter getting lower back injury. only recreational lifters lifting with weird form.
inuries in deadlifters are always bicep or ham tears.
-
HottDamn! My inguinal hernia would have ripped through my nutsack attempting that.
Say what you will about BioLayne but he would bury 99% of this group that posts here.
- Block!
-
Strong dude, but Jesus Christ..... If he keeps that form up he will fuck his back and be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
Yep.
-
Chest has already been obliterated. He's going to fuck himself up again, I assure everyone.
All around strong homo. Uses pro hormones and designer steroids by the way. Far too much of a pussy to ever load up a syringe and inject himself with hormones.

Getting the old mans curse of having every attempt at pulling off a sprint look like a jog w/a limp? :o
No. I'm just joking. No hitches or limps or hip crap. My leg workouts mean I'm still all good. I will do about 50' worth of high knee lifts/crosses as I walk out to the outfield to keep the groin loose. Can't have that going south on me. Baseball is basically 90% standing around and 10% explosive running, less if I'm hitting 'em over the fence.

No, Debussey will not take the hint of starting a conversation about your groin 8)
Keeping the warmth and "looseness" there when doing explosive running = very important. Duck usually goes paranoia when warming up before some thunderous tabata cardio-sprints uphill. Going from 0 - 100% while being cold = recepie for disaster.
Have you done any statistics on you hitting the ball with the bat?

Oh, sure. We actually kept stats a couple of years ago, just for bragging rights. Mostly homers, tho. It's a slow pitch league, so, if you're not some quad, you're gonna hit the ball every time. A better stat would be your on-base % -ie. not caught or thrown out. It's a great game and the enthusiasms for it are akin, I suppose, to those who have a passion for cricket or football soccer(football).
-
No matter what you say about his form he is still stronger than most of getbig and most IFBB pro bodybuilders.
-
Epic jealousy....
I'm not jealous at all. I've pulled 500lbs before at less than 180lbs, squat 4 plates below parallel, only benched 315lbs because of my shoulder and I can lift very heavy relative to my size. All he's doing is ego lifting. I don't want to get hurt so I lift heavy and intensely, but all within reason. You can lift moderate to light-heavy weights and grow like a weed. All that super-heavy lifting shit is going to do is fuck your body up. It feels good to throw up a huge weight but I don't get a good mind muscle connection from lifting heavy weights. And it feels like I was hit by a bus the next day. I'm young and I don't need to have messed up joints before my mid-twenties.
Layne is a douche and admitted to using Superdrol or some other designer steroid back in the day. I read it on bb.com and he quickly deleted his posts about it. I had a screenshot saved on my computer from yeeaaarrs ago. A lot of people were razzing him about it because he does his Linkin Park stomp to the top of every mountain and screams at the top of his lungs that he's natural. If he wasn't one of those look-at-me-I'm-natural fa*gots, I wouldn't care at all. I give him props for being very strong and determined, but I think he's a fucking retard for lifting so heavy. If he wants to continue developing his misshapen, horrible physique he needs to appreciate his body's limits and stop testing them.
His pec has already been obliterated. I predict a ham, tricep or bicep tear next.

Well, you went to a lot of trouble with that post, but I gotta tell ya, we take the piss out of ourselves every time we get together, more than those pics could ever hope to do. We have no delusions of greatness. Sure, we're competitive, and we like to win, but, man, do we like to have some fun, especially at our own expense(s). We trash talk each other, are (usually) good sports, play fair, and because of these other teams like playing us. :)

Debussey would not expect anything less from you when it comes to self depricating humor 8) You seem like a guy that can poke fun at yourself for some good laughs ;)
The D-man directorate would even like to play against your team once if accomodations for Debusseys wheelchair can be made. Unfortunately, Duck has a bit of an overdeveloped competetive instinct. So while you guys and Dump are poking fun at eachother and having good laughs in the heat of the battle, expect Duck to be sporting a face of reddish anger and lets just all hope she can contain herself from having to pee on the court having anger outbursts.
Could this be the finale in GetbigLeague 2012? :D

Hmm. Can easily be accommodated, bro. We play two courtesy games during the Summer. The first against a blind team with one of those balls that beeps. That's interesting, as when you're blindfolded you tend to run off in all directions instead of a straight line. The second - and I think this is your speed - against a team from our local long-term hospital, some whom are mentally/and-or physically-challenged. They, of course, trounce us, and it absolutely makes their day.

Outstanding! 2012 it is! Team D-man directorate feat. DeBaseballBat as the main attraction vs. Team Dr.Sperms/old geezer.
What will the odds be? :o

No but I remember that too. Eric Brosser, Kiyoshi Moody, Skip La Cour, Doug Miller, Chris Faildo, even Serge Nubret all claim to be natural. Do people honestly believe this shit?
That's just one of my beefs with Norton. He's strong as HELL - I've never said otherwise. It's the drug free natural f*gs that need to defend his honor and meltdown anytime people point out that he's a hypocritical loser. I don't care if he deadlifts 5000lbs raw, anyone who stomps around in the gym like that is a loser. He could have Adriana Lima impaled on his 12" cock and I'll still call him a shrimp dick f*g. That's just how it goes.

I would say meltdown, but the fact you have intimate details of the guys unit can only mean you have brutal gay admiration.
P.S. Layne is natural. HTH

Brutal jelousy, is your 1rm 315? haha.
If you were deadlifting 615x3 then you could complain about the way he prepares himself, otherwise, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
I think Layne IS natural, but i agree that Eric Broser, Kyoshi Moody, John Hansen and Jeff Willet are fucking scumbag liars worse than IFBB pros.
-
This all the way alpha male cleaned that weight in training. Can you see him stomping all over the place?
-

Nope. It's all about internalization and visualization. Those like Layne must externalize and get their affirmations from others. Guess which one will take the gold, every single time?

Hansen and Willet....you could fill a dump truck with the bullshit these guys have spewed out. Funny how NONE of them would even try and enter a pro natural organization and 'clean up' so to speak at all the pro shows. Why not?

Personally, I've seen/heard loads of guys externalise and rarely does it bug me. I just happen to think that Layne is extremely talented in doing it in such a manner that seems somewhat less humble. Everything about him/it reminds me of Linkin Park - a bit numetal wiggeresque.
A classic example of excess noise was Ronnie prior to the 800. That was comical, but I never thought it was lame.
I'm surprised so many people think the guy is definitely geared up. I have noticed lately that there are many people in my gym who dwarf me, yet are quite a bit weaker. I think there may be a general level of ignorance in bodybuilders for what you can achieve if you train with more emphasis on strength.
Since I'll likely have to "rebutt" such a comment, I'll just state that doesn't mean I don't respect the quality of his lifts. I just find it interesting that people think you have be on gear to be doing that - it seems to me that you have a losing mentality and likely, you're destined to be weak forever.

Absolutely. Who here has even said that Ronnie's psych-up before a lift was moronic. In fact, it started to be used in the gym. Personally I think its retarded. But hey, I am not the one doing the 800. I am sure that some people would think what I do before a bigger lift is stupid. I know I do. Does anyone have a link to the youtube video of the guy doing the little dance before his monster deadlift (huge guy, knocks a chalk container down)?

There are a couple world record power lifters in my gym. NONE of them make noises or stupid displays like those. Those displays are for the psychologically weak.

shut the fuck up, does it scare when somone 3x as strong as you makes abit of noise?
Did your girlfriends pussy get wet because some guy was grunting at the gym near you?
;D

No doubt a very strong guy, but he really isn't that big, even for a natty
Also why does he dress like a S.W.A.T. team member all the time, looks like a dildo

Does he not realize that a forklift would be easier?

I think Layne doesn't realize a lot of things.
For example if he truly is Natty all of that super-heavy, insane training is beating the shit out of his CNS and actually hampering his progress

I doubt he is training like that week in week out. I find that max deadlifts are a difficult wave to ride if you're trying to consistently get stronger. More than any other lift I can think of.
-
and yet your the hyporcrite all in the same fckikng sentece,,oh im a baby I believe layne is natural cause he said so and he lets me suck his cock vs serge or kyoshi among others who dont so they are not natural,,wow just wow ::)
-

I say this from the tons of vids he posts and articles, he's a notorious "balls out" trainer. One of those super intense guys that kills himself in the gym.
which is admirable but IMO counterproductive for a truly natty trainer

I actually think pure powerlifting training is the only type of training that can add some thickness to a natural who's been training for a while. If he gets stronger he can add a little muscle still. Doing pump training, not so much.
Since he's getting stronger that's proof he isn't overtraining or 'beating the shit out of his CNS'. If he complained of stagnation then you could look at the program.

Lots of powerlifters do look like Doo Doo when they do diet down.

Depends on your aesthetic preference. Don't do any powerlifting if you prefer a thin neck and a more feminine form. Avoid the powerlifts if you like a Vince Gironda type build, sleek thighs, flat ass and no neck - the ballerina build. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well as far as stagnation...i don't know the man personally but in every vid I've ever seen of him over the years he looks to be exactly the same size after his initial growth phase.
And tearing a pec is "beating the shit" out of your body.
I was given advice by a friend of mine who was a Nat level competitor over 15 years ago who was a very smart guy, he said " Greg i watch you train and you fucking kill yourself on every rep of every set like your life depended on it..... you are beating the shit out of yourself, that's no good for a natty. You need to turn it down a notch."
And he was right, I stopped going to triple-negative-death failure on every set and I started growing again, and felt a whole lot better in general
-
In my experience as a natty heavy most of the time is the way to go. There's just no other way to achieve the good thickness without 'help.''
I think the CNS theory is bogus. The nerves are gonna fire regardless, like putting your shoes on in the morning. It doesn't burn out from lifting heavy. Rest, nutrition, repeat. Age and your mindset in the gym are probably the bigger factors.
I have never went backwards on my max lifts, ever. If my bodyweight is right then I can hit my max for that given bodyweight.

315lbs for three controlled reps at 170lbs is pretty good for someone who's NOT lying, my natural friend. Speaking of natural. I was natural at the time. I put on 65lbs naturally before hitting this lift. Sometimes my shoulder is okay on flat bench but I'm just not comfortable with it. No bodybuilder, especially one my size needs to be doing heavy flat bench like that. I honestly don't think I should do more than 185lbs for my work sets, with a couple sets with 225lbs just to maintain strength. I train with intensity and intelligence, not ego.
If I started doing brutal strength training again like DC training then I know I can easily hit that again. But it's not worth it. Heavy lifting gets to a point where risk outweighs benefit by far. I think heavy lifting is paramount for gaining thickness, natural or enhanced. However the less "enhanced" you are, the less extremely heavy lifting. Just a few super heavy sets here and there, then a little lighter weight. Every big guy I know lifts like this and while I'm only a bit over 180lbs right now and dieting, I'm still lifting heavy, my physique is very full and I'm making progress.
There are a couple world record power lifters in my gym. NONE of them make noises or stupid displays like those. Those displays are for the psychologically weak.
Exactly. No need to stomp around and draw attention. Layne looks like he banged back a gram of metribolone (cheque drops) before every lift.
I think Layne doesn't realize a lot of things.

Yes. All the Xtend in the world can't stop a "natural" lifter's CNS from taking such a huge hit. I'm sure catabolism would sky rocket even on the sauce if someone lifted like that all the time. I took a quick glance at his log as the advertisement was plastered all over bb.com and he always lifts like a wank.
I think he'd make more progress if he changed up his training. He does look good in competition with pro tan and professional lighting, but that's the only time. Watch his video logs of him a day or two out, he still looks exactly the same. Dim down the lights and rub a bottle of f*g tan on him and take a picture from a MySpace angle and he looks good.
Unless he's training with periodization where he takes some breaks from that heavy lifting, I don't know what's going through his peanut brain.

Well, there's something 'dishonest' in this post, if you know what I mean ;) :D
Layne has hit his natural muscular peak a long time ago. Doesn't matter how he trains, he wont make any big gains. But powerlifting can make the physique a bit thicker, add a bit more upper back size and density and so on. Sure the heavier you train the more dangerous it is. It's a balancing act.

There's no definitive way to tell for certain but him and all the Scivation guys follow their little diets to a T. And I don't think there's any way a natural lifter can thrive in that sort of environment. I think that Layne could be more muscles and conditioned because he certainly has the drive. I mean, nothing would compel me to stomp around my gym blasting Linkin Park with a toque on in the middle of summer. I'll give him props there! 8)

You can make fantastic strength gains even after years of training, but muscle mass tends to be what it has always been. Very small and slow changes, unless you have neglected some muscle groups.

Well, IMO if the guy keeps getting stronger then he's doing something right. An overtrained athlete doesn't keep getting stronger. Loss of strength is the very definition of overtraining. Your CNS simply can't be beat up if the strength keeps climbing.
His psych-up is ridiculous, I agree.

Born lucky brother, that's all i can really say on it.
What i will point out is Since my early 30s i've basically stayed within the same 10-15lbs. weight wise.
I blew up as a teen, had another big gain in my early 30's when my body fully matured, and have been around the same size ever since.
If i was a juicehead i would have been all over the map, but I've been the same size forever, I just get more maturity and density to my muscle as the years go by.

It's possible but without your genetics you wouldn't be half your size. Further proof that genetics=everything.

Layne is 5'11 and as heavy as 225-230. He's not exactly fat at that weight either. Where you have him beat is structure.

man that video was great!! any others?

What people fails to realize is that Layne has his training system down to a science. He monitors everything, and he does not go balls out every training. The more calm workouts are usually not taped as it would be boring for most viewers.
Just like everybody else, he makes errors and goes to far at times (like when he tore his pec).
And if he wants to act a bit gorilla before lifts and he feels it works for him, then more power to him. If people in his gym were truly bothered by it, somebody would probably give him a clear message, and he'd find another gym where his psych-up would be more accepted.
Most people having trained at serious "hardcore" gyms have seen this act time and time again (although most people do their dance in near proximity of the weights instead of walking 1 mile towards the weight while psyching up), and if these people were to start utilizing more "inwardly focused techniques" like visualization (which Layne probably does in between his workouts anyway), they'd still have to spend a shitload of time getting so good at it that they could equal the result their gorilla-routine would provide, and why do a job like that just because some bozo's on an internet forum gets agitated by it?
:D

LOL. The results are in, and the majority of posters in this thread are put off by his douche bag antics. You wanna take this as a personal insult to your hero and spout all sorts of apologetics about it, then have at it. But, that would be 'unscientific.' A 'scientific' perspective would take the (-) post numbers and come to the rational conclusion that, yes, his behaviour is that of a douche nozzle. ;)

well........ I like psyching up before a big lift but I try to stay quiet and I do it near my bench or bar

Hey, no need to bring Debussey's hero-worship and love for Norton into this >:( :'(

Yeah my structure ain't bad
Yes structure goes a long way, especially at the competitive level and this is where you beat Layne. Yes, you are also bigger than him, but Layne can always put on more size. Structure is something you can't train for in the gym unfortunately.
Now with that said, do you deadlift more than Layne? I assume he is close to 675 now. I still think this is strong by any standard.

Just thought I'd ask. It's getting to the point where he is even out-lifting pros and winning powerlifting contests. He has me beat by 150-200 pounds on the deadlift.

DeBozo has heard that the real nuts ones don't realize they're nuts. DeNuts = in a mental asylum, so the circumstances suggests that DeNutbag = nuts. So it kinda makes sense that DeBong would try to explain behavior traits in others similar to its own deviant behaviors as "normal".

Yes, I also don't see why he uses the gym bravado so much either. Personally I don't care to train like that but to each his own.

not that he doesn't work hard, as seen from his videos, the guys dedication is epic.
I dont know about offseason, call it "retard strength" but contest time im 100% sure he juices to some degree.
you are 100% certain that he juices?... ::)
how can you be 99% certain?, or, say, 23.47% certain?
doesnt certain mean, well, certain?
and, well for me, you saying that he juices is good enough for me...i now dont believe anything he says about being natural..ill never look at him the same way again.
i cant believe he lied to us for all this time....

You have too much faith in bodybuilders. Even the squeeky clean natural ones, true naturals, lie. It's in our nature.
Furthermore, anyone juicing and lying about it isn't going to come out of the woodwork and admit their lies. Especially a lying bodybuilder. Tom Prince still maintains that it was the Advil that fucked up his kidneys for instance. :P

I am certain Greg Kovacs juices. (certainty implies a fixed or settled amount, which would only encompass two probabilities, 0 and 1. So you don't need to bother with stating 100%.
As far as being 75% certain, should i even bother.
You are UNCERTAIN of the weather tomorrow if your prediction is 75%.

Do you dead and squat in the same week? I've done that for about 2 years now (sq wed, dead fri) and gone nowhere in either lift. Ever since I stopped squatting due to chronic aids of the knee I've noticed I'm actually able to add strength deadlifting. Might be worth considering yourself.

Yes, some weeks I do but I usually try to space them out three days apart.

there is no way you are fully recovered from one to the other, depending on how hard you train.
so many of the same muscles are used.

iof you do deadlifts properly, your legs wont be fatiqued. and if you do squats properly, your back wont be fatigued.

Watch your mouth! >:(

He is actually right... your back won't fatigue before your legs in squat and your legs most definitely won't fatigue first in the deadlift... of course if all done correctly...

Can either of you post some info corroborating this? I'm skeptical but willing to be proven wrong.

Here = proper lifting bravado:
Right on DB, right on. I love it. Genuine. No heavy metal swearing, stomping, hat backwards wigger stylings, just fat girls screaming and going for it.
-
My goal is to deadlift 350X20 with respectable form. Not necessarily contest perfect, but better than my previous videos and decent form for certain.

Why is the goal such high reps.

Why is the goal such high reps.
Never really thought about it. I just wanted to gradually get stronger and I finally got to the point of deadlifting over 300 for 20 reps and figured I would just step things up a little. My 1RM goal is 525.
-
Seems a bit strange to train for endurance but ultimately have goals of strength, though?

Debussey's point was that this video = just taking Layne's bravado a step further. This would scare women and children in the gym, yet nobody whines about this stuff.
Brutal double standards >:(

Yes, although they are both sort of equivalent. Say for example my maximum bench press is around 225X20 or so and the highest 1RM I have ever achieved was 345 although I might be good for a little higher. Training either way works for either, just less efficiently. For example, you will gain muscle training for strength and you will gain strength training for muscle, but specializing one or the other would be the most efficient approach. As it is, you would be correct to state that my training is not particularly efficient or conducive to either goal.

I guarantee you , if that guy had a backwards baseball cap, I'd be saying he was lame, too. It isn't double standards, it's based on my wigger alert level/Linkin Park Litmus Test.

I agree, but, if it isn't optimal, why do it?

Layne is a nice guy but strong as hell and he looks like he would be quite the aggressive fighter if he needed to be. You make it sound like you would just easily manhandle someone who is 230 and deadlifts close to 700.

I'm going to go with someone trolling for attention.

Watch the ridiculousness of the first few UFC's and see if you still believe that sentiment. When they don't know, they really don't.

stupidest shiit ever said here, the person who said this has obviously never deadlifted heavy and squatted heavy with any regularity whatsoever
idiots

It depends on the lifter, can go both ways. Guy I know always does squats before deads and he feels the squats actually prime his body for the deads. He may do 3-5 working sets of Olympic squats before deads. This workout he may do up to 3 days per week.
I feel I lose deadlift strength if I do squats first, but then again I haven't conditioned my body to do it like that.

I would never do one after the other, but that's just me.
I'd be weak as shit for the second lift
-
he was using elastic bands on the bar for powerlifitng training lol
They weren't elastic bands. THey were jump stretch flex bands from elitefts.com
Also he wasn't using them correctly.
I still love Layne though and think he has done more with his potential than any other competitor.

Skill is very important but so is size and strength.

Georges St-Pierre?
I used to think it was all skill until Brock Lesnar proved to me size and strength are incredibly important. Yes, of course skill is also incredibly important, but size and strength are not for nothing.

You are somewhat off base with your Lesnar comment. Lesnar was a collegiate wrestling champion. He is one of the absolute best wrestlers in the UFC ever, and wrestling = brutal MMA asset.
Still, you = absolutely correct. Size and strength = very important.
But a guy like SpermPierre or Alves = just so fucking good, and Layne probably can't fight to save his life ;D
Shit man, are you amped for UFC 100???? ITS STARTING SOON GOD DAMMIT!!!!!!

I did 525 x 3 today
Layne pwns my juicer's ass :(

I agree. It's 'real.' Not like Layne's scripted gym stomp appearances, which have all the veracity of a reality tv show.

So now your subjective interpretation of what's "real" is the guiding criteria?
If those icelandic monsters had pulled that shit off in any normal gym, they'd be thrown out (after complaints and attention from employees) while Layne would have been allowed to stay. Here, intersubjectivity would have saved Layne, which according to your subjective shait = the bad wolf.
Get it straight Chimpsey ;D

It's easy to tell, magnusson doesn't care about what people think of him, acts like a wally but people love him for it. He genuinely looks like he is getting the crazy on.
Layne, layne stinks of preparation. Scripts. Storyboards. Production Meetings. 4/10 on IMDB.
(I'm not saying he is doing it on purpose, it's just how it comes off).

Yes, but how much of his skill is Lesnar actually using? He basically just mauls guys. Granted, in his fight against Heath Herring his wrestling skills certainly shined.

dude it takes a LOT more skill than you think...
lesnar is def not just "mauling"

True, he is not just that, but that is basically all it took for him to get Mir to the ground in the first match. That was all size and brute strength. He simply overpowered him in that first take down.
In his fight with Heath Herring, Brock's skill was definitely on display. Brock's strength will allow him to beat more skilled opponents.
