Police are searching for a woman who vanished from a Manhattan office tower midway through her shift on the evening cleaning crew, and hasn't been heard from since.
Eridania Rodriguez disappeared from her job in the financial district Tuesday night.
She punched in for her shift, worked a few hours and was last seen on security cameras at around 7 p.m.
A family lawyer says the building's cameras never recorded her leaving the skyscraper.
Her purse and street clothes were still in her locker.
Police searched the building Wednesday and found no trace of the missing woman.
Rodriguez is the sister of Victor Martinez, a top-ranked professional bodybuilder.

This reminds me of another kidnapping/dissapearance. MMA star Vitor Belfort's sister dissapeared back in 2004 or 2005. That took place in Brazil. She was here one day and gone the next.

An army of cops and police dogs tore through every inch of a lower Manhattan office tower in a bid to find a mother of three who vanished from the tightly guarded building.
Eridania Rodriguez, 46, is believed to be the victim of foul play. She was not captured leaving the 26-story high-rise by any of its cameras when she went missing, a few hours before the end of her cleaning shift Tuesday night.
Canine units and Emergency Service Unit officers combed over the 400,000-square-foot building on Rector Street, looking for signs of life from the pretty mom as her family stood vigil outside.
As each office and hallway was ruled out, officers marked them as dead ends with a green 'x.'
Teams of detectives are being dispatched today to a Pennsylvania landfill, where the building's refuse is carted, sources said.
"I'm scared [someone] raped her and left her somewhere," Rodriguez's frightened 17-year-old daughter, Yaniris Figueroa, told The Post. "I think she's alive and suffering. I just want them to find her and bring her back."
Detectives grilled two men today in the bizarre disappearance of the Inwood resident, who emigrated here from the Dominican Republic 27 years ago.
One was a freight-elevator operator with multiple prior arrests, including a crazed attack on his girlfriend's car with a bowling ball. He was held for a day but released after demanding a lawyer. "They were interrogating him pretty tough," said the man's brother.
Investigators also quizzed a city Department of Transportation employee who family members said followed Rodriguez around the building's empty floors at night and gave her the creeps.
"He would look at her and appear on floors where she was working alone," said Rodriguez's brother Victor Martinez. "She said she was scared of working here at night. There are big, empty floors with no security cameras."
The DOT employee, who is not being immediately eyed as a suspect, left the building about a month ago but would show up from time to time.
A family friend added that Rodriguez complained that a worker had followed her into the bathroom recently and exposed himself. It was unclear whether he was one of those grilled by cops.
Rodriguez landed the job working for Stellar Management about six months ago through her brother Cesar Martinez who also works at the building-RD>. She was spotted on surveillance tape entering the building but not leaving it. She was last seen talking to a co-worker at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When she didn't return home, worried family members called cops. "My mom would not leave that building for no reason," said Figueroa. "She never goes out except to work."
Detectives found the woman's hair clip on the eighth floor but her ID has not been found. Her street clothes were discovered in her locker on the 10th floor. Her cellphone has not been used or even powered on since she went missing. "I never fall asleep before she gets home," said Figueroa."I always worried about her because she gets home late. That work wasn't for her."

NEW YORK (July 9) - A Manhattan skyscraper in one of the most security-conscious parts of the city has become the scene of an unlikely missing persons mystery. Police are trying to figure out what happened to a cleaning woman who vanished midway through her shift Tuesday evening at an office tower a few hundred feet from the World Trade Center reconstruction site.
Eridania Rodriguez, 46, punched in for work at 2 Rector Street around 5 p.m. She donned her blue uniform, chatted with other after-hours employees and was last seen on security cameras around 7 p.m., according to a lawyer for her family, Daniel Ferreira.
Then, she disappeared.
The building's cameras never recorded her leaving the skyscraper. She didn't meet up with co-workers for her regular subway ride home to Manhattan's Washington Heights section. Her purse and street clothes remained in her locker.
The woman's family is distraught and fears the worst, Ferreira said.
"She had been complaining about a guy at the building who made her kind of nervous," he said. "And she worked on floors that had been empty." He said Rodriguez is married with several children. One of her brothers is Victor Martinez, a top-ranked professional bodybuilder.
Police quietly sealed off the building Wednesday morning to hunt for clues. They found no trace of the missing woman. Workers were finally allowed back in shortly before noon.
"It's a mind blower. How do you go missing here?" said Rob Ross, an executive assistant in the studio of architect Daniel Libeskind, who moved to the tower after getting the commission to redesign ground zero.
Security in the building is typical for the financial district. Employees need identification cards to enter. Security cameras cover every entrance and many public areas. Every visitor is photographed before they are allowed up from the lobby.
Officials at the company that operates the building, Stellar Management, declined to comment.

I think Victor's better competitive days are behind him, to be honest. I peg him as a modern era Chris Cormier in a sense that he leans a little to much on the party-smoke weed-skip workouts and live the dream lifestyle while the guys who will place Top-5 are living the calculated disciplined lifestyle.
I'd also have to imagine he is having a harder time getting all the necessary gear due to everybody knowing he is an INFORMANT. I'm sure he can find a fan-boy schmoe to do his leg work but he will always be looking over his shoulder wondering and worrying.
Sine he will probably place out of the Top-5 this year I can see MHP dropping him like a bad habit right after the ASC when he places out of the Top-5 again. They already have Kai as their superstar.

i agree with everything you said, except for one thing...............abou t him being an informant............... ....everyone, and i mean everyone..............in that bodybuilding drug, club drug scene who gets busted for dealing................. all of them end up selling each other out..............these are mostly spoiled rich kids, selfish bodybuilders, and other people who are not above selling out their own mother to avoid a few months in the slam and out of the gym or club................it is by no means omerta in that world , once the busts start happening, its every man for himself.
i have had very personal experience with this 2 seperate times in my life, not me personally, but a very close family member.................. ...the irony is almost too great.................th ese "tough" (mostly tough looking) bodybuilders walking through clubs flaring their lats.................... ...........sing like little girls once the jig is up.
actually i dont think this is really even limited to the steroid, club drug world anymore.............as i said............omerta is dead...........once the busts start coming down, they are all sellin geach other out.......what, is someone really gonna do 12 years in the can to protect some antiquated "honoer" code, or spill a few names and be on parole in 13 months.

NEW YORK — A body hidden inside a Manhattan high-rise where a cleaning woman vanished four days ago was found Saturday morning.
Police spokesman Paul Browne said the corpse was found just before 9 a.m., stuffed in an air conditioning duct in a utility room on the 12th floor of the tower where Eridania Rodriguez vanished Tuesday.
Police had searched the office building from top to bottom every day since Rodriguez disappeared, but hadn't turned up anything. Investigators had been sure, though, that she had not walked out alive.
The building is in a high-security zone next to ground zero. Cameras cover every door. They recorded Rodriguez entering the high-rise and working part of her shift Tuesday, but didn't show her leaving.
Authorities didn't immediately confirm the identity of the corpse, but it was presumed to be Rodriguez, who was 46 and lived in Manhattan. She was married with several children.
Police have no suspect in her disappearance.
Before the discovery, dozens of police officers with search dogs, including bloodhounds, convened at the Rector Street tower for yet another comprehensive search of the massive building.
The building has 26 stories and more than 400,000 square feet of interior space and plenty of places to hide, including some floors that were empty and a sub-basement partially flooded with water.
Investigators had traveled Friday to a landfill in Pennsylvania where the building's garbage is taken, on the chance that someone had taken her body out with the trash.

The mystery of a Manhattan mom who disappeared from her office-cleaning job ended with a tragic discovery Saturday: her body in an air conditioning duct, police said.
Eridania Rodriguez's remains were discovered at 8:50 a.m. between the 12th and 13th floors of 2 Rector St. after dozens of cops and sniffer dogs spent a second day searching.
The floor where her body was found is under construction.
A bad smell and missing ceiling tiles made search teams focus on the area, sources said. Shortly after the grisly discovery, police arrived at the family home in Inwood to break the news to Rodriguez's loved ones.
The 46-year-old was last seen alive Tuesday evening.
She was caught on surveillance video around 7 p.m. pushing a cleaning cart into an elevator, sources said.
She spoke with her daughter by telephone around the same time but did not show up for dinner with co-workers at 9 p.m. and was never seen leaving the building.
Her clothes and purse were found in a changing room. Police have questioned a building elevator operator, Joseph Pabon, but no one has been arrested.
Several hours after the discovery, Rodriguez's body was still inside building near Ground Zero while cops waited for crime scene investigators.

Cops found the decomposing body of a missing Manhattan cleaning woman Saturday - her head wrapped like a mummy in heavy-duty yellow and black construction tape, police sources said.
Eridania Rodriguez's hands and legs had also been bound with tape before she was shoved into an eye-level air-conditioning duct on the 12th floor of 2 Rector St., where she worked, sources said.
Cops made the gruesome find on the fourth day of their desperate search for the mother of three.
They had spent Friday searching for Rodriguez - who was last seen on Tuesday evening at the building - in a Pennsylvania landfill.
Yesterday, an officer on a floor undergoing renovations at the building detected a foul odor and saw missing ceiling tiles.
Dozens of officers and search dogs arrived early yesterday to comb the 26-story building in search of the 46-year-old.
After the grisly discovery, police went to Rodriguez's Inwood home to notify her family.
"I'm devastated," her daughter, Yaniris Figueroa, 17, told the Daily News. "I'm still in a state of shock. I really don't feel well. How could someone have done this to my mom?"
Her brother, Victor Martinez, 35, said this was supposed to have been his sister's last week on the job because she was scared to work in the building.
"She didn't want to work there anymore because of the unsafe working conditions," he said. "She just wanted to leave."
Martinez, a champion bodybuilder from the Dominican Republic, said an employee at the building recently exposed himself to his sister.
The perv was transferred, but she was still spooked.
"She said she was afraid of being there. She said she was afraid of being alone," he said.
Rodriguez was caught on surveillance video around 7 p.m. wearing her uniform blue jumpsuit and pushing a cleaning cart into an elevator inside the building, sources said.
She spoke with her daughter by telephone around the same time, but did not show up for dinner with co-workers at 9 p.m. and was never seen leaving the building.
The woman's clothes and purse were found in her locker and her cleaning cart was abandoned on the eighth floor, causing cops to fear the worst.
Police questioned a building elevator operator - Joseph Pabon - on Thursday, but he was released after he asked for a lawyer.
Pabon, 26, cried when detectives asked him questions about the missing woman, sources said. He had visible scratches on his hands and arms, and couldn't explain why he left the building early Tuesday night, sources said.
Cops were outside Pabon's Staten Island home yesterday and pursued him when he drove away.
Pabon has prior arrests, including an April collar for allegedly punching and choking his girlfriend and smashing her windshield with a bowling ball.

Nothing even from the beginning even indicated any type of revenge killing. If you wanted revenge, you would 99% of the time take it out directly on the person that wronged you. For the last 1%, you wouldn't kill someones sister in a office building full of cameras, you would do it out in the open and have the body easy to find. Of course many of us care, because we are around, whereas some of you should just go away. Leave. You dont care about someone who is in serious hurt or mourning right now. Go away. You don't get it. He and his family is not just some statistic. We feel his hurt, we care because if one of us were in his situation, it would be nice to have people care too.

I just wanted to tell you Ron that you're 100% on with this post, as many people fail to realize how serious this is. Victor is a great guy and even though we all compete against one another, we are all amongst the same family, so his hurt is ours as well. I commend him on his ability to speak after such terrible news also because he shows just how strong he really is. I hope that Victor and his family can find peace with this horrific event and that the proper authorities catch and charge to the full extent of the law who is responsible. My condolences to Victor and his family!

Just found out about this. My prayers go out to Victor and his family. They have suffered a great loss and I hope they get justice and this stalking piece of sh*t pays severely for this. Sickos like this are cockroaches and make me sick. Makes me worry about my own mother who leaves an office building late at night sometimes. Victor's overcome lots of obstacles in his career and I somehow know though this is much more difficult he will come out stronger in the end. God bless Victor and his family.

Ron, thank you for the post, I speak as a close personal friend of Victor and some of the postings on here were rather disturbing. I am glad to see you show your concern and condolences. I was at the services last night and I cannot put into words how much suffering that family is going through right now. Murders take place everyday, but it saddens me to see it happen to such an innocent individual, if anyone ever got a chance to meet her, she really kept that family together, especially after his mom and dad passed away. My prayers are with the Martinez family, hopefully they will find the strength to get through this. As for Victor, hopefully he can turn this thing around and come back stronger than ever.... Thanks!

Whoever did it, I hope they bring him to justice quickly- its a fucked up story.

Ron, thank you for the post, I speak as a close personal friend of Victor and some of the postings on here were rather disturbing. I am glad to see you show your concern and condolences. I was at the services last night and I cannot put into words how much suffering that family is going through right now. Murders take place everyday, but it saddens me to see it happen to such an innocent individual, if anyone ever got a chance to meet her, she really kept that family together, especially after his mom and dad passed away. My prayers are with the Martinez family, hopefully they will find the strength to get through this. As for Victor, hopefully he can turn this thing around and come back stronger than ever.... Thanks!

On the WCBS-TV video, Victor's last name is given as Hernandez. Does anyone know if this is Victor's real name & if he changed it at some point to Martinez for some reason.
Rest in peace Victor. I only knew you briefly, but in that time, you treated me with respect, courtesy and kindness. I'll never forget how we laughed together in Jacksonville last August when you scared the heck out of my son with a double biceps shot and monster growl!!

Gal pal of accused cleaning lady killer Joseph Pabon stands by her man

The girlfriend of the elevator operator charged with killing a cleaning woman stood by her man Saturday - appearing at his Manhattan arraignment on murder charges.
Lisa Marie Blumenberg sat stone-faced in court as Joseph Pabon, 26, was ordered held without bail in the death of Eridania Rodriguez.
Pabon didn't say a word during the brief hearing, but rubbed his face and yawned several times.
Hours later, his gal pal cursed out reporters after she returned to the Staten Island home she shares with the surly, burly building worker.
"She's standing by his side, confident he did not do this crime," defense lawyer Mario Gallucci said outside Manhattan Criminal Court.
Blumenberg appears to be the loyal type. Pabon has a previous arrest for allegedly choking her and smashing her car windshield with a bowling ball.
Blumenberg's supporting her beau in the face of DNA evidence that cops say solidly links Pabon to Rodriguez's death.
His genetic material was found under the victim's fingernail, and both his and Rodriguez's DNA was on a work glove left at the crime scene.
The 46-year-old mother of three disappeared July 7 while cleaning a desolate floor of the Rector St. office building where Pabon also worked.
After four days of searching, she was found stuffed in an air duct - asphyxiated by heavy tape covering her mouth. Cops believe she was alive when she was shoved inside.
"I want Pabon to feel pain," Rodriguez's brother, Victor Martinez, 35, said. "My sister didn't die right away. He let her suffer like an animal, and he should die like an animal."
Tests showed Rodriguez wasn't raped, but it's unclear if her attacker tried to sexually assault her.
Pabon was the prime suspect from the start.
He had suspicious scratches on his torso, arms and neck; gave conflicting statements to cops over whether he saw Rodriguez the night she disappeared, and left work early that night, authorities said.
Gallucci shrugged off the forensic evidence Saturday, saying the scratch marks on Pabon's body could have come from "yard work or moving."
"If you saw the marks, they're laughable," Gallucci said, adding that his client ditched work that day because he wasn't feeling well.
Pabon was busted Friday by a team of undercover cops who had tailed him around the clock since Rodriguez's body was discovered July 11.
He was sitting in the backseat of a pal's Honda Accord when police swooped in at a red light with guns drawn, and cuffed him on Clove Road in Staten Island.
Rodriguez's loved ones, who are in the Dominican Republic to bury her, believed Pabon was the killer and were anxious for police to arrest him.
"I don't know what is in Pabon's soul, but to just show up to work and murder someone you barely know is heartless," family friend Adina Stewart said. "He has left this family devastated. It's unspeakably horrific."

exactly right Klaus.....it IS a complex situation....as are many of the relationships between men and women.....some guys are violent and crazy....other guys are dudes who lost it and did something really dumb and outrageous......sometime s we guys just go into denial.....a woman we are interested in says she's not interested and we think "oh she's just playing hard to get" and we keep pursuing her to the point of harassment or stalking....which can then lead to rape or sexual assault because we "know she wants it"
or when a woman lets you kiss her, feel her up, take off some of her clothes, then says that's enough but the guy keeps going because he has been brought up to believe that when a girl says no it REALLY means yes....and that then progresses towards rape....
or when lets say a 19 year old has sex with a 16 year old.....the law considers that to be rape as well....and there are guys being prosecuted for this in certain states which are tough on this type of thing....

The point I originally tried to make before I was sidetracked was I think this guy who murdered victor's sister probably wanted her sexually and was trying to convince her for a long time to sleep with him....she kept turning down his repeated advances and he cornered her in an isolated part of the building and came on to her.....she rejected him again and he may have tried to rape her and she fought back and it went wrong because now she was going to probably report him...so he killed her in a panic or on purpose to silence her..that was my theory.....why else would he kill a female co-worker?..he has a history of violence against his girlfriend as well

That's where the insanity part comes in. Anyone who goes "too far" or feels they are entitled to pussy so they take it by force is crazy, not normal, insane, however you want to word it. Normal men, like myself, would never fall into such a scenerio under any circumstances.

Bigbobs....I gave you four different scenarios in an above post where a person who seems to be normal could do something as heinous as rape....these men don't suddenly go insane in that moment of rape.....these scenarios happen every day.....it is inconceivable that all of these guys are insane...they are usually everyday guys...fathers....people who work ....boyfriends, etc......not always some slobbering guy in a dark alley

Further, she is actually secretly dissappointed at the guys who stop when she askes them to, considering them to be wimps. I don't consider the guys in this situation who keep thusting until they blow their load to be insane.
2. Almost any guy who lives in Japan will tell you that when you are out with a girl, you need to "rape" them if you want the relationship to progress to a sexual one. What happens in Japanese culture is that when the man tries to initiate sex (its never ever initiated by the girl) the girl (or at least any decent one) MUST refuse. If she appears eager, let alone willing, she will be considered a slut by the man (ie not suitable for a relationship). So, when the man starts "raping her" she will say things like "no, stop, etc" and during the act of sex will "scream", things like "no, it hurts, stop, please stop etc" (look at any Japanese porn vid and you will see what I mean). Of course this type of "raping" needs to be done in a culturally acceptable way - when taking here clothes off, she needs to resist, but let you use just enough effort to get them off without tearing them, she wil try to not let you take her panties off, but eventually after a bit of an attempt by her to stop you they come off, etc. (One could not for example simply grab a women off the street and rape her there on the spot). But in any case, this kind of Japanese "date rape" is another example of men who are technically "raping" but yet surely are not insane doing this.
