Considering the fact that most of you guys think that EVERYONE with a semi-decent physique is juiced up, do you or do you not think that Martin Berkhan is using steroids?

But has admitted taking ephedrine in the past.
The thing is he is cut to the bone and has exceptional muscle shape- it just pops all over. This gives an illusion that he is bigger than what he seems. Notice that he is on his own, in these pictures.
There are some videos on the web of him deadlifting and squatting. He is covered up... and looks entirely normal. In clothes, you would barely suspect that he lifts. This is the mark of the natural :)

Nah, it's just the way he's hitting the pose. Even when I was completely natural (only previous inject was a flu shot lol) I could push my delts out all weird like that. That's actually a huge reason why I avoid pinning delts. Even if I pin half a ml it looks like I have 5 deltoid heads or something so I never put anything in there anymore.
Martin is a smart fucking guy. I respect him a lot and have made IF work well for myself. I think his stats are a bit suspect because there's no way he can be that heavy and lean completely natural. I think he's probably tried a few orals and maybe some injects too. Probably did it very calculated and meticulously . But I don't think he stays on all the time. Even a few cycles changes your natural base. Your numbers won't climb up higher than what gh15 laid out, but what you LOOK like is way different.
Either way, Martin looks great and he doesn't have to kill himself dieting like a fool. I've got a few friends (natty and juiced) doing IF and they have great results as well.

I have a hard time believing Martin is not a regular user of fat burners both OTC and prescription. In all its glory no matter how genetically gifted you are the human body will only get so lean and so muscular at the same time. Martin is pretty muscular for being so lean.

I seem to recall he does no cardio, but not positive on that. His diet would piss off the clean eaters, the 6 meals a day camp of bodybuilding orthodoxy. It's basically eat what you want within the desired daily macros during the daily eating window (can't remember if it's 4 hours or more?). But it works of course, and not just for the genetically elite on a heavy drug regimen.

Yep. I don't think he does much cardio at all. I know he feels that losing weight and fatloss are better mitigated through calorie control than cardio (I agree).
I think the eating window is 8 hours but you want to squeeze it in generally after a work out. I inadvertently fasted at work a few times and found that if I staved hunger pains and hypoglycemia I'd end up feeling fantastic. And after eating, even if I ate "poorly" I would get SO pumped up. I started purposely fasting before I found his site and found great results.
Martin really puts it into perspective. He debunks a lot of myths like the one where it's better to eat around the clock because it turns you into some metabolic furnace. He touches base on the thermic effect of food, covers insulin and metabolism, etc. A lot of people make big claims but this guy just tells it like it is. No big, outlandish claims or theories. Everything is backed by science as well as real world results. Not everyone can fit IF into their lifestyle, but if they can...

I think when there are financial/career benefits to having a good physique , the temptation to take a little bit of something must be great...
Not saying that he does take anything, just that if it enhances your product - which is in a large part your physique - and you aren't tested, why not do it?

20-inch arms? Not if you're lean. I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but don't fall for that magazine bullshit about how it's possible to build 20-inch arms naturally. Arthur Jones took the TRUE measurements of many bodybuilders in the 70s... Most pros did not have 20-inch arms and the few that did never exceeded 21 inches. For example, Arnold's arms were 19 2/3 inches slightly pumped.

BTW i dont believe arthur jones on those stats and if theyre true then the guys were off cycle....and yes they took time off back then...arnold looked terrible most of the year but would gear up for a show and grow into it..unlike today.

Tape measures are inaccurate. Cut out some newspaper, mark it up, and then measure your friend's arms. If he really his 20" at sub 10% bodyfat, then he's a one in a million genetic freak.
That measurement was taken before the Mr. Olympia, IIRC.

19 inch is very real mesurment for fella on hormones,,even very lean ,, arnold was 6'1 to 6'2 only nwo he is maybe 6 feet due to age...he got short he maybe even 5'11 now day but that not th eissue,, arnold when land in americana did have 19 inch arm easy for 6'1 fella on hormones,, also his arms was one of the best geneticaly and structuraly ,, he had good illusion that made them look even biger when flex and when not flex,, you talk here about one of the best bodybuild ever if not the best in many eyes,, cant compare no one to him aside from ron an dorian and lee hainey and all of them were hormone monkys lol

He denies using steroids, though he admits he used ephedrine when it was still legal. He started off as a fatboy and dieted down then shot back up in weight (according to his leangains.com blog, not his bodyspace). His training was very out of the ordinary - a Heavy Duty 2 type routine.

Berkhan has a rough formula for determining someone's genetic potential: height in cm - 100 = weight in kg when very lean
It's actually quite a good formula, since it would put someone who's 5'9 at approximately 170lbs w/ 6% bodyfat. Berkhan's own height/weight correspond to this formula quite well (he beats it by just a tad bit).

All makes sense now. Sweden is very strict about anabolics, in Sweden cops can approach / detain you if they suspect solely based on your look that you are using steroids. So lol, admitting juice = suicide over there.

arnold is one person i believe actually had true measurements. look at how big his biceps were and also take into consideration just how tall he was as well. he definitely had 22 inch arms at his peak, also with seo and esciline it makes it even more believable.

Cardio allows me to keep my carbs high while i diet , reason why I dont look flat nor small when dieting to single digits cuz of cardio i keep eating lots of cals and losing fat while keeping all my muscle..Bodyweight almost stays the same while i get leaner ,harder every week..in part thanks to Cardio and Meds of ocurse ...whoever said cardio was stupid has no idea what the hell he is talking about.
Show me a low carb dieter or keto fuck and I iwll show you one small fucker with muscle that do not pop.

See, there is your mistake. Running is some stupid shit for cardio, a lot of wear n tear on your body even if you know how to run properly. Just hit the cardio machines in the gym and do low intensity, so your heartrate is somewhere 125-140 bpm.

There are some videos on the web of him deadlifting and squatting. He is covered up... and looks entirely normal. In clothes, you would barely suspect that he lifts. This is the mark curse of the natural :)

i was just trying to prove that cardio "isnt a stupid" as you called it, that it helps ( of course along with the right meds) those of us who refuse to eat like birds to get in shape...Ive gotten in super conditioning eating 300g of carbs all the way to ocntest or shoot day..thanks to cardio..;)

I walk on the treadmill for the calf pump and to get a full body sweat going. That doesn't burn many calories alone, however it makes a huge difference. Believe it or not, but it works awesome for me and others like slinpump. :D
The direct amount of calories burned isn't much, but compounded with my workout after it makes a noticeable difference. I also have a warm body which of tough because of how cold it gets in Canada in the winter. This lets me eat anything I want, get ripped and stay full.

I started following the IF approach januari 2011, and I went from 103kg to a extremely flat 83kg (230lb to approx 184lb. 6'1) Very lean but no muscle fullness at all. Also, my lifts which were normally pretty decent, went to shit.
After this I started eating more (and not clean at all, cookies, pizzas etc. PWO) and I blew up like a balloon. I only gained 4kg (193lb now) but the difference in my physique is night and day. Bodyfat still very low (veins on stomach/quads etc.) and my lifts are as good as when I was 230.
All in all very pleased with this method.
To some extent, I actually agree with TA. Yes you CAN eat pies, pizza's and icecream and maintain a lean physique. I think it contributes nicely in muscle fullness/recovery PWO. Ofcourse It shouldn't be your only nutrition, but this "I need to eat steamed vegetables and rice" bullshit is so overrated its not even funny. ;D

yeah DeMey is one of my favorites! that is where it shoud be as far as mass goes. He was 6'1 and 230 on stage, and when he got his 3rd place on the O stage he was 223 pounds! Today he would have to weigh at least 260/270, with a gut and stupidly big legs...
I just train to be muscular and in shape now, and training mma is real cool. Also a lot more money in mma than bb... lol!
and it is a hell of a cardio work out! i do not even diet, eat what i want! and i am in shape.

Nevertheless, I still like IF but I'm not putting down the vial of trenbologna any time soon. IF works seamlessly with my lifestyle so it's great that I can do it and reap the rewards without having to make any big sacrifices. I break my fast whenever I see fit though. The trenbologna in my blood keeps me lean as shit anyway. Whenever I break the fast or cheat absurdly, all it results in is a big ass pump.

Nevertheless, I still like IF but I'm not putting down the vial of trenbologna any time soon. IF works seamlessly with my lifestyle so it's great that I can do it and reap the rewards without having to make any big sacrifices. I break my fast whenever I see fit though. The trenbologna in my blood keeps me lean as shit anyway. Whenever I break the fast or cheat absurdly, all it results in is a big ass pump.
Thats what I was going to experiment with.....my usual food choices with IF....then my cheat day on sundays....

I swear, the only thing I do differently now and in the past is that I'm happy with what I eat. I eat all the same stuff I ate before I started bodybuilding and I look better now than when I had the cleanest diet in the world which I maintained for years. I eat whatever I want now, leaning towards meals higher in protein, but that's about it. I normally eat "clean" because I don't like shitty food, but I'll eat any food with any macronutrient breakdown and I'm happier and leaner than ever.
I don't stress about my diet. As long as I shoot for higher protein and eat quality food, that can be anything. I'll have post workout eggs benedict, pho immediately before bed, sushi before bed, cook a steak at 2am because I'm baked off my gourd and feel like being an Iron Chef. Or I'll eat Mc Donalds a few times a week and no one would be the wiser.

i was going to say same food is food,,quality and quantity is what makes it otherwise,,,eat enough,semi structured in terms of spacing could be 2 hours could be 4 just eat,choose variety protein/carb/fat 4-6 times per day depending on body everyone different.optimus/dustin good posting..

no matter if on something or not,
and this means being smooth or even fat
gh helps a lot, tren less, low testo just a little , high testo only makes it even more difficult to look good aka not bloofy
most important is quality of food, rich natural food with natural vits, minerals, carbs, protein lower in fat and the mental aspect of being happy with what you eat
one good meal every 3-4 hours is good for me an NO NO supplements especially synthetic vitamine E LOL
some pure whey isolate and some aminos may help if your job takes its toll

yes the only time one should eat every 2 hours is when one is a hgh/tren/slin/igf beast !!
on steroids only just get in 3/4 good meals with a little extra protein....
when on gh you can eat some more....you can use more protein, but nothing silly... that whole 500 grams a day will only make you fat, and fart! lol...
i get in about 200 i think, and i am about 235 now.... because i just use far less right now.
when i up the dose i can be 250 and do it with 200 grams of protein.
when on gh i eat some more protein , but never more then 300 grams a day...
haven't been on gh for a long time though.... :(

I can assure you guys that Boris Kleine is not taking any drugs, (accept those he needs for his thyroid).
Boris was arested in august 2006 and ha has since then been OFF! Completely! He stays in good shape all year around and I think it's a little deceptive for the eye when you only see him at picture. You all seem to think that he is SO FREAKING big. But no... His not. Compared to what he used to be! IF he was juicing again, he would be MUCH bigger then he is now. Keep in mind that this guy has been training like a maniac for about 20 years! And add to that some great genetics. And everyone who has ever seen Boris in the gym knows that he doesn't train like a pussy... ;D He is a machine! And he has been like that his whole life. Weather it regards training or food.
