ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - The family of a 17-year-old African-American boy shot to death last month in his gated Florida community by a white Neighborhood Watch captain wants to see the captain arrested, the family's lawyer said on Wednesday.
Trayvon Martin was shot dead after he took a break from watching NBA All-Star game television coverage to walk 10 minutes to a convenience store to buy snacks including Skittles candy requested by his 13-year-old brother, Chad, the family's lawyer Ben Crump said.
"He was a good kid," Crump said in an interview, adding that the family would issue a call for the Watch captain's arrest at a news conference on Thursday. "On his way home, a Neighborhood Watch loose cannon shot and killed him."
Trayvon, who lived in Miami with his mother, had been visiting his father and stepmother in a gated townhome community called The Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford, 20 miles north of Orlando.
As Trayvon returned to the townhome, Sanford police received a 911 call reporting a suspicious person.
Although names are blacked out on the police report, Crump and media reports at the time of the shooting identified the caller as George Zimmerman who is listed in the community's newsletter as the Neighborhood Watch captain.
Without waiting for police to arrive, Crump said, Zimmerman confronted Trayvon, who was on the sidewalk near his home. By the time police got there, Trayvon was dead of a single gunshot to the chest.
"What do the police find in his pocket? Skittles," Crump said. "A can of Arizona ice tea in his jacket pocket and Skittles in his front pocket for his brother Chad."
Zimmerman could not be reached for comment on Wednesday evening at a phone number listed for him on the community's newsletter.
Crump said the family was concerned that police might decide to consider the shooting as self defense, and that police have ignored the family's request for a copy of the original 911 call, which they think will shed light on the incidents.
"If the 911 protocol across the country held to form here, they told him not to get involved. He disobeyed that order," said Ryan Julison, a spokesman for the family.
"He (Zimmerman) didn't have to get out of his car," said Crump, who has prepared a public records lawsuit to file on Thursday if the family doesn't get the 911 tape. "If he never gets out of his car, there is no reason for self-defense. Trayvon only has skittles. He has the gun."
Since Trayvon, a high school junior who wanted to be a pilot, was black and Zimmerman is white, Crump said race is "the 600 pound elephant in the room."
"Why is this kid suspicious in the first place? I think a stereotype must have been placed on the kid," Crump said.

A deadly shooting in Sanford has taken a bizarre turn. Police said a man patrolling on the neighborhood watch shot and killed a teenager who was on vacation.
Trayvon Martin turned 17 just three weeks before he was killed at the Retreat at Twin Lakes Townhomes on Sunday night.
Residents heard loud yelling and called 911 for the Sanford police. Moments later, more 911 calls were made about a gunshot being fired. Kelly Nevin's son lives there, and heard the shot.
"Sitting on the couch, about to watch the Oscars and you know, boom. And they have a baby. He just told her, 'Stay in there. I'll look,' and he saw the body," Nevin said.
Police arrived within a minute and found Martin shot dead. Paramedics could not bring him back.
They also found 26-year-old George Zimmerman, who they say admitted right away he had shot the teenager. An eyewitness said Zimmerman appeared to be in shock.
"At that point, Mr. Zimmerman was taken into custody, investigative detention if you will, and got to the station to conduct an interview with him to find out exactly what happened," Sanford police spokesman Sgt. David Zimmerman said.
Police won't say exactly what happened yet, but said Zimmerman was acting in his role as a neighborhood watch member.
If someone on neighborhood watch has a concealed weapons permit, they can carry a gun just like anyone else, but police won't say if the shooter has a permit or what led to the deadly shooting in this usually quiet townhome community.
Police said that typically, when a known shooter is not arrested, there's reason to believe the shooting could have been justifiable.
But they said the teenager, who was visiting relatives, did not have a gun.
A police volunteer was handing out fliers Wednesday. Police are meeting with concerned residents Thursday evening at the clubhouse.

(WOFL FOX 35) - Investigators with the Sanford Police Department are still trying to figure out exactly what happened during an altercation which resulted in a fatal shooting in the Twin Lakes area. The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday evening on Twin Trees Lane. A man who witnessed part of the altercation contacted authorities.
"The guy on the bottom, who had a red sweater on, was yelling to me, 'Help! Help!' and I told him to stop, and I was calling 911," said the witness, who asked to be identified only by his first name, John.
John said he locked his patio door, ran upstairs and heard at least one gun shot.
"And then, when I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on the top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point."
On Monday afternoon, a FOX 35 News crew met with Tracy Martin who said the victim in the shooting is her 17-year-old son, Trayvon, who was visiting from Miami.
"He walked out of the house to go to the store. He was going to the store," she said. "He doesn't know anybody here. He just came down here, so he was bored, so he walked down to the store. He was on his way back home. I'm living down here. He was sitting on the porch and this man killed him."
Police said the shooter, identified as 25-year-old George Zimmerman, surrendered immediately. He has been questioned, but no charges have been levied and no arrest made.
Neighbors tell us that the shooter patrols the community at night and is a member of the Neighorhood Watch committee; however, police are not commenting.

Local news said the guy was in his car and "trayvon" physically attacked him. First he used non lethal pepper spray and then he shot him. What happened leading up to it is a little sketchy but it looks like good shoot from what I saw on the news last night.
Protip: If you go up to someone in their car and assault them, don't be surprised if they fight back. If they pepper spray you first, count yourself lucky and leave. If you press the attack, don't be surprised if you get shot.

You know what? I bet your version isn't very far from the truth. 26 year old Zimmerman was probably trying to act hard and scare the young black youth, and it backfired on him. He started getting his ass handed to him, and had to pull his firearm. Bottom line, is it's not his responsiblility to confront anyone acting suspicious. It is his responsiblility to call the cops, and wait for them to get there.

Chief Bill Lee of the Sanford Police Department on Thursday evening said the account given by Martin’s family and attorney is correct, that Zimmerman saw the young man walking home from the store. He said that Zimmerman did indeed call 911 and report a suspicious person, and that he was told not to follow him.
“For some reason he felt that Trayvon, the way that he was walking or appeared seemed suspicious to him,” Lee said. “He called this in and at one part of this initial call [the dispatcher] recommends him not to follow Trayvon. A police officer is on the way at that point.”
Lee said that Zimmerman instead followed Martin.
“I believe that Mr. Zimmerman was trying to, by his account, find an address to give the officers and also trying to keep Trayvon in eyesight.”
Zimmerman told the police that Martin noticed that he was being followed and asked, “what’s your problem?”
That's when a physical confrontation ensued, Lee said. And moments later, Martin was shot.
Lee said that Zimmerman has a legal permit to carry the weapon used in the shooting, and that he told police that he shot Martin in self-defense.
“He felt the need to defend himself,” Lee said. “ I don’t think it was his intent to go and shoot somebody” that night.
The chief said the police have met with Zimmerman on two to three separate occasions, and that their investigation should be wrapped up this week. He said all of the evidence in the case will be delivered to the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office soon after.
“We’re going to present all the information and if they feel that based on all of the evidence that we’re able to produce that Mr. Zimmerman has satisfied the requirement that he shot in self defense, they may, but if not, he would be charged with some type of homicide or manslaughter,” Lee said.
“It is certainly and absolutely a tragedy, especially for the Martin Family,” Lee said. "No one expects their teenage son to go the store and never come back.”

Florida shooter George Zimmerman not easily pigeonholed
A closer look at George Zimmerman, son of a Peruvian mother and a white father who is at the center of the nation's latest controversy over race.

The shooter was once a Catholic altar boy, with a surname that could have been Jewish.
His father is white, neighbors say. His mother is Latina. And his family is eager to point out that some of his relatives are black.
There may be no box to check for George Zimmerman, 28, no tidy way to categorize, define and sort the man whose pull of a trigger on a Sanford, Fla., street is forcing America to once again confront its fraught relationship with race and identity. The slain victim, we know, was named Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager in a hoodie.
The images of Zimmerman — not just his face, but the words used to describe him — can confound and confuse.
Why are they calling him white, wondered Paul Ebert, the Prince William County commonwealth's attorney who knew Zimmerman's mother, Gladys, from her days as an interpreter at the county courthouse. Zimmerman's mother, Ebert knew, was Peruvian, and he thought of her as Hispanic.
Looking at Zimmerman's photograph made Darren Soto, a Florida state legislator, think he might be Latino. But he just as easily might have been Italian or French, he thought. "It's all over the place in Florida," said Soto, who represents a statehouse district in Orlando, not far from the gated subdivision in Sanford where Martin died.
"You have people with Anglo first and last names who speak perfect Spanish and are from Puerto Rico. And you've got a third- or fourth-generation Joey Gonzalez from Tampa who can't speak a word of Spanish."
The focus in Florida, where thousands gathered Thursday night in Sanford for an emotional rally, has primarily been on complaints that Martin, 17, may have been targeted because of his race.
In Manassas, Va., where Zimmerman lived in the 1980s and 1990s with his parents and two siblings, neighbors tended to define the family based on their spiritual profile. "Very Catholic ... very religious," their neighbor Jim Rudzenski recalled Thursday. The children attended All Saints Catholic School through the eighth grade before going to Osbourn High School. George became an altar server and evening receptionist at All Saints Catholic Church.
Strict upbringing
The father, Robert Zimmerman, is a retired military man. He could be strict. And the children's grandmother, who lived with the family, also kept a watchful eye, said Kay Hall, who lived across the street from the Zimmermans for about 20 years. George and his siblings "didn't play with the neighborhood kids," Rudzenski said. "They had to stay home and play." It was always "Yes, ma'am," "No, ma'am," Hall said.
Zimmerman's life was not without difficulties. In 2001, when he was 17 or 18, he was the victim of a minor criminal assault, said Manassas police Sgt. Eddie Rivera. The city's computer records do not provide details.
In school, Zimmerman hinted at ambitions in the business world. He joined a Future Business Leaders of America club. In his senior yearbook, he wrote: "I'm going to Florida to work with my godfather who just bought a $1 million business."
In Florida, Zimmerman shifted his plans, enrolling in Seminole State College with hopes of becoming a law-enforcement officer. He became the self-appointed protector of the streets around his home in Retreat at Twin Lakes, a gated community, although his neighborhood-watch organization was not officially registered.
In the past eight years, he called the police department at least 46 times with reports of various sightings: open garages, suspicious people. In 2005, according to police records obtained by The Orlando Sentinel and other news organizations, Zimmerman was twice accused of either criminal misconduct or violence. He had a concealed-weapon permit and had a black Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun and a holster the night Martin died.
Zimmerman married Shellie Nicole Dean, a licensed cosmetologist, in late 2007. The next year, he resurfaced in court documents as a credit-card company pursued him for unpaid debts.
Capital One accused Zimmerman of failing to pay more than $1,000. He settled with the company for $2,135.82, records show, to cover his debts with interest, as well as attorney and court costs. However, the credit-card company soon reported that Zimmerman wasn't making the payments he had agreed to.
Zimmerman's employer at the time, CarMax, agreed to garnish his wages. That arrangement was canceled in late 2008 because Zimmerman was no longer employed by CarMax.
It's unclear how Zimmerman was employed when he encountered Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26.
Teontae Ami, who also lives in the Retreat at Twin Lakes community, said very few black teens like himself live in the neighborhood.
Ami, 17, said he and a close friend who is black would sit at the end of a driveway in the evening and felt uncomfortable when Zimmerman would pass them on a neighborhood patrol. They used to greet him, but he never responded, he said.
"I think he took his job too seriously," Ami said, referring to Zimmerman's watch patrols. A student, Ami said his friend was once confronted by Zimmerman, who accused him of stealing a bike.
"I don't want to call it a black thing, but it sure seemed like it," said Ami.
Another neighbor, Frank Taaffe, 55, defended Zimmerman as "not a racist."
Taaffe, a marketing specialist who had been a watch captain with Zimmerman until December, said he may have been "overzealous, maybe," but "his main concern is the safety and welfare of the community."
He said Zimmerman had been doing watch patrols for about a year and was a stand-up guy. Records show Zimmerman is not the owner of the town home where he lives.
Emphasizing diversity
Zimmerman's father has sought to emphasize his family's diversity in hopes of saving his son from condemnation as a racist.
While images of protests from across the country skitter past on television screens, the elder Zimmerman has tried to do what others have been doing, in various ways, for days: define his son. George is "a Spanish-speaking minority," the father wrote in a letter delivered to The Orlando Sentinel. "He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever." George, the father insisted, was more like the boy he killed than people thought. George was a minority — the other — too.
The argument the father is making feels hollow and self-serving to Michaela Angela Davis, an African-American writer and activist who lives in New York. In her eyes, George Zimmerman's Hispanic roots don't give him cover.
"You being a minority doesn't make you immune to racist beliefs," she said in an interview Thursday. Davis sees a pervasive cultural imprint, reinforced by media and entertainment imagery: the black man as a symbol of "violence, fear and deviant behavior." A young man could be susceptible to the influence of that image whether his "mother is from Peru or Norway."
History of tension
Hispanics and black Americans have a shared history of discrimination in the United States. But they also have a shared history of tension in neighborhoods, schools, even prisons. In Latin America, including Peru, Afro Latinos have frequently complained of a lack of political representation, economic disenfranchisement and the virtual absence of their image in popular culture, such as soap operas, an issue they attribute to racial exclusion.
Zimmerman's legal fate could rest on examinations of possible motives that will be pieced together from clues, including snatches of audiotape, and from inquiries into whether he muttered a racial slur before the shooting.
His family background doesn't discount possible racial motives, said Luis Martinez-Fernandez, a professor of Latin American and Caribbean history at the University of Central Florida. Hispanics are an ethnic group, but within that group there are different races. There are black Dominicans and Cubans, for instance.
"Who is Hispanic and who's not is not as clear as other ethnic groups," said Martinez-Fernandez. "There's no such thing as a Hispanic race. It has to do with origin, culture and race. Some people argue that language should be a part. All this complicates identity."
Hispanics make up the nation's largest ethnic group at more than 13 percent of the population, while African Americans are the largest racial group, with more than 12 percent of the population. In the 2010 Census, more than half of people who identified as Hispanic said they were white, and only 3 percent said they were black.
"There's a sense that one group has been harmed historically more than the other," Martinez-Fernandez said. "There's been a history of the dominant group in power pitting one group against the other. I think we have not fought together. There have been few instances of that."
Forging a bond
There have been some signs in Florida that Hispanics and African Americans are forging a bond, said Soto, the state legislator. During redistricting debates in Florida, the two groups have "stuck together very solidly," he said.
If not for a quirk of fate, Martin and Zimmerman might never have encountered each other. Several years ago, Zimmerman returned to his old neighborhood and showed up unannounced at the house across the street. He came back two more times to see George Hall, a retired Presbyterian minister.
Zimmerman told him that he had plans. He wanted to move back to Virginia. He wanted to be a police officer, but he needed a letter of recommendation that Zimmerman could give to prospective employers.
"I told them he was a great guy," Hall recalled. "We never did hear what happened with that."

Actually he called 46 times in the last 8 years. Also, witnesses stated that Zimmerman was the one screaming for help. From witness accounts, Trayvon was on top of him giving him some ground and pound, and Zimmerman was screaming for help. With that said, Zimmerman is a pussy for pulling his gun after getting his ass handed to him by a 17 year old.

No, witnesses said they heard TRAYVON screaming for help. Cops actually corrected at least two witnesses testimony based on ZIMMERMAN's story.
That's why this is such a big story. There's no getting around the fact that Trayvon's race played a big part in the reason he's dead now, but you can ignore that and you still have a majorly fucked up case.
The cops did not arrest Zimmerman based on his story. Witness testimony conflicted with that story and cops simply ignored the inconsistencies. Zimmerman's 911 call conflicted with his story and the cops ignored that. The kid was actually on the phone with his girlfriend at the time the alleged confrontation happened and cops never interviewed her. Zimmerman was never photographed that night. When the cops explained to the kid's family why Zimmerman wasn't being arrested, they said it was partly because he had no criminal record. They were basing this on Zimmerman's word. It was something that turned out to be not true and they only discovered after running a background check 1 day and a half after the shooting.
911 tapes proved he was lying, witness testimony proved he was lying, girlfriend proved he was lying. Cops simply refused to investigate this case. That's what the big deal is. This isn't just another shooting. This is a case of the cops clearly not doing their job. This story didn't blow up until about three weeks after it happened. The reason was that the 911 tapes that showed Zimmerman was actually pursuing the kid were finally released. The police department had actually been trying to keep them under wraps.

90-year-old assault victim Bob Strait released from hospital

The surviving victim from last weeks brutal home invasion and beating is out of the hospital.
90-year-old Bob Strait is home with family members.
He suffered serious injuries during the incident, but his wife Nancy died.
Family members say Bob Strait is recovering physically, but emotionally his wounds are deep and he says he never wants to go back to the home he and his wife shared for more than 40 years.
"When I was holding his hand you could tell he was shaking on the inside, he was scared and when we asked him yesterday if he was ready to go home, he thought he was going home," said Strait's daughter, Lanora.
The couple was ambushed and robbed last week in their north Tulsa home.
Police have one suspect in custody, 21 year old Tyrone Woodfork, he's facing 1st degree murder charges among others.
The result of the attack left Bob Strait with a broken jaw, internal bleeding and bb gun wounds. His wife Nancy didn't survive her injuries.
"After he found out she was gone, we brought her in to him, and turned her to where he couldn't see her bad side and he held her hand for quite awhile and all he could say was I loved that old woman, I loved that old woman for so long," said Lanora.
The couple had been married for more than 65 years and Lanora doesn't know if her dad will be able to survive much longer without his soul mate.
"Now that she's gone, I don't know, I don't expect much, I hope for it but I don't expect it," said Lanora.
At this point police are still investigating, they say there could be more suspects still on the loose.
Family members are hopeful they will be caught, so something like this doesn't happen to anyone else.
"No not like this, no one should take your parents away or anybody away from you and one thing I've learned you want to let the people that you love, know that you love them, because you don't know if you are going to see them again tomorrow," said Lanora.
The memorial service for Nancy strait will be Friday at 12:30 at Floral Haven. There will be a viewing Thursday at noon.

George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

Additionally, the family had to go through a lot of rigamarole just to get to hear the tapes. They were only released earlier this week, several weeks after the shooting. (FWIW, I don't think it's impossible that it was Zimmer screaming, just that Martin's father never said any such thing.)

On the night of the February shooting, it wasn't warm and it was also raining. Zimmerman was wearing a red sweater that night.It made sense for Martin to be wearing a hoodie.
(Not that it matter- Zimmerman was in the wrong, regardless of Martin's clothing.)

Incidents of white on black crime are statistically very very low. The media makes it seem like it's a rampant problem and that whites are preying on minorities when the data clearly demonstrates this isn't true. It could even be argued that the opposite is true. Blacks statistically committ crimes (rape, murder, robbery) outside their race at a rate much higher than any other group. These numbers are consistent even when factoring in location and economic variation. I'm no statistician but this looks like a trend.

Yesterday afternoon at a press conference, the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense circulated a “wanted dead or alive” poster for George Zimmerman for shooting to death a Florida teenager four weeks ago. Zimmerman, a self-proclaimed neighborhood watch captain said he accosted what he alleges was a suspicious looking black male walking through his neighborhood. He further contends the man punched him, and bloodied his nose, so Zimmerman fired a gun shot striking the man in the chest. The “man” was 17 year old Trayvon Martin, who would lie in the county morgue three days before police alerted his parents of their child’s death.
Minister Mikhail Muhummud led the press conference, calling for the firing of Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee, the arrest of George Zimmerman and some involvement from President Obama. Muhummud stated he is the southern regional director for the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense located in Jacksonville, Florida. While Minister Muhummud fired off a list of demands and expressed outrage over the handling of the shooting and subsequent investigation; a member of the group passed flyers to about 100 people who showed up for the press conference. Muhummud told the group he was not concerned with rumors of death threats to George Zimmerman, “He should be afraid for his life…” (SEE )
Muhummud said “I’m here today to appeal to the country, particularly President Obama to do the right thing while you have the power.” He said that “Trayvon Martin “symbolizes my son.”
President Obama had not addressed the issue, but had advised the Justice Department to open an investigation into the case. This morning following Muhummud’s press conference, President Obama spoke about the case for the first time publicly. He echoed the sentiments of Muhummud saying “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon...” (SEE ).
When the group started chanting “Black Power,” Ms. Adele Azarucquoi, a white long time resident of Sanford shouted, “What about White people.”
Muhummud quickly said “We don’t hate any group. We hate injustice. We appreciate the whites who have come forth to help us.”
There were less than a dozen whites, not counting media, among the mostly African American crowd. “I hope there are more people who look like me at the next rally for Trayvon’s family,” Ms. Azarucquoi said.
After the news conference Ms. Azarucquoi told a journalist, “This heart of mine is sick when a kid gets killed because his skin is different from the skin of the guy who shoots him.”
She then requested that a journalist walk across the street with her to speak with Police Chief Bill Lee.
Upon arrival at his office the receptionist said he wasn’t in the office then said “he hasn’t been in the office in several days.”
Later in the day Chief Lee announced he was temporarily stepping down.
Present at the news conference was Ms. Mildred Duprey de Robles, Conciliation Specialist for the United States Justice Department’s Office of Community Relations. Ms. Duprey de Robles declined to speak with the press other than to say she was there as an observer.
The Justice Department’s office of Community Relations is mandated to help negotiate peaceful resolutions to community problems. She appeared to have gotten an ear full and left quickly when the press insisted on more communication from her.
Members of the public who came in support of the New Black Panther Party’s press conference were vocal in their outrage over the shooting and investigation. They called for the dismantling of “the good ole boy network.” Pastor Paul Wright, whose 1000 member church, Calvary Temple Praises, is several blocks from the police department, dropped by the press conference. When asked about the “wanted dead or alive” poster Pastor Wright said, “I don’t agree with that. We don’t need to set a precedent that this is the way to resolve problems.”

Police officials say not only was Martin unarmed, but all he was carrying was a cup of tea and a bag of skittles, which are now showing up at rallies. ....
At 7:17pm, the time police found Trayvon's body, Philadelphia launched the first Million Hoodie March outside of 30th Street Station.
People held signs and wore hoodies like the one Trayvon was wearing when he was shot and killed by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman hasn't been charged and says he shot Martin in self-defense. ....
"Trayvon Martin, a young man basically minding his business, in my opinion at least, was assassinated," said Mayor Michael Nutter.
Mayor Nutter echoed President Obama's statement earlier Friday about Martin's murder.
"As a father, as a citizen, I have a relatively young son and people who care about children have to be affected by this," he said.
Prosecutor Seth Williams released a picture of himself wearing a hoodie.
"As a prosecutor, I am ashamed and embarrassed that George Zimmerman wasn't arrested on the spot, and I hope he will be tried in a court of law soon," said Williams. ....
The group Occupy the Dream Philadelphia is one of the organizations sponsoring events of solidarity in the area.
In a press release Friday night the group say they will continue to work towards justice and equality for everyone.

also: Eyewitness News found out that Justin Collison, the Sanford police officer's son who came under fire after a YouTube video showed him beating up a homeless man, was arrested in March of 2007 on assault and weapons charges in Volusia County.
Collison faced two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and shooting into a vehicle. Those charges were eventually dropped by the State Attorney's Office.

Zimmerman has injuries from a fight prove that he was not in the wrong? It's been noted that he apprehended a potential criminal at an earlier point. It sounds like he bit off more than he could chew and resorted to gunplay.
