Because you don't need it at all for shoulder development and why else would you do it.. I did it as an athlete but never when bodybuilding.. None did

Why do you look the way you do?? Are you not ashamed to carry bodyfat? There is no excuse for it.. Then again if you're over 22 and trained more than a few years there is no excuse to have less than 17" very cut arms.. Not everyone can have 18-19 I understand but at least 17 and hard abs - come on man?!?!?

I never get upset lil man... Back in my hard corps days I was an angry officer but after losing my wife and retiring I learned quickly that life is far too good for anger.. What in the world is there to be upset or stressed about in America?? Everyone can have great health and wealth and unlike other parts of the rock the ONLY reason that a 40 something man doesn't have both is 100% his fault.. The beauty of that is that if you don't have it you can easily correct it...

Sorry for busting your chops buddy - your an odd lil fella and I admit it's sad that this board is not a real bodybuilding board - but you harm no one.. Accept my apology and carry on...

At least consider this though - there are other places for nonsensical conversation ( I assume that you know that the things you speak of are things you only partially understand and thus are presented poorly).. This place is for those that actually strive for physical perfection to share and learn - or it should be...
Just a thought..

Now this gorilla is forilla sleepy for sure (see what I did there John boy?)

tried them a long time ago, did something like 1.5 plates a side for rather smooth reps. Just saw it as a lower back hazard and prefer to save my cns for other stuff that works the muscle more direct.

I used to do a few sets with 185, but those days are over. Never did get to 2 wheels. My perpetual pained shoulder keeps me at 135 MAX or the pain starts again.

I am OK with that.

I did last year in my asylums thread, try watching my training videos for once, I did 6 reps with fucked up shoulder, 100k ain't shit.
I can't even do lateral raises now with 12lb dumbbells cos of the left fucked up shoulder....how u think I did that!!
I am going in for surgery in September.

Fat has nothing to do with being weak, how many fucking fat ass powerlifters are out there.

I back up more shit on here than anyone else.

Its not my fault you didn't watch the video.
I remember you guys called out flinstone too b4 he posted vid owning you guys.
Think he did 15 reps on 100k before bar slipped or something, he could have got 20 easy.

I am weak now on chest and shoulders, but its cos of injury.
Right now I can rep out around 180lb on shoulder press (I don't go heavier cos of injury)
On chest I don't go heavier than 220 for incline barbell press for reps.....I can't even do flat bench no more.

I am still shit strong on back and legs cos those don't affect my shoulder so much.

What's funny is that you've successfully downgraded from 225 to 155 for your reps. You got into this by suggesting that you could do 225 (100kg) "no problem". So I want to see that. Fuck, even with my jacked up shoulder, I can do 10 x 155. That's not impressive. But I don't run my fucking mouth about what a "beast" I am, and you do.

You need to be quite advanced to military press 70kg for 10 reps with NO effort, it's more impressive than squatting 3 plates for 10 imo.

But you said you have it no problem. Can't wait to see it ;D

70 kilos military press is a joke and most natty gym rats can do that anyway, nothing special about it.
My issue is not about weight even its about my shoulder which needs surgery.

I shouldn't even be training with it........but I do.....I had 6 cortisone shots in it.
If u want me to post up my doctors letter I can later today..

Severe impingement, calcification and bone degeneration.
My injury is why I don't take shit so serious now cos really I can't train properly and its agony every time.

wrong, it's very impressive for a natty. You need to be advanced to pull that shit off. Definitely not many natties can do that at all, no matter what gym you go to.

but you can pull out if you wish, I don't really care, but it would be cool to see you actually military press 70kg for n easy 10, keeping your back straigh, not arching your lower back one bit.

You said you only go till 180lbs, so 155lbs would be no problem for you. I won't believe you at all unless you post a video. Should be a non issue if it's easy for you.

Strangely, I wanted to do shoulders and traps today and I never do military presses (not standing OHP) but I did today. My biggest problem is that my shoulder won't let me do full ROM. The lowest I can go is just underneath the chin.

Some expert in the gym told me that I will never EVER get any real improvement in my military press unless I start learning how to push press heavy ass weights first.

Idiotic.. Pushpressing eliminates the hardest part of the military press, same for touch 'n' going' the reps imo.

Most I've done is 75kg x 5 paused on the upper chest, with the last one taking like 10sec to lockout with atrocious form  ;D
Prefer just going for a 3 sets till failure with 60kg then drop down to 50.

If I was only doing bodybuilding, I probably wouldnt do standing military press.  But who wants to look like Tarzan and be as weak as Jane?
I started incorporating standing military press to hit my shoulders, build functional and core strength.  I can't go back to seated presses.  I'd like to see alot of these guys "strict" presses.  Probably alot of body english, i.e- push pressing in most. 185x6.

i go up to 90 on DB presses.  self imposed rev limiter, any heavier and i feel my joints and tendons are taking a beating and that's THE red flag for me.

next delt workout i might load up a barbell and see what's up, out of curiosity.  haven't done standing BB press in forever.

I used to do weightlifting when they had the press movement. Weighing 210 I could clean and press 225 for 6 reps without a warmup. My best single was 270 pounds. Went up easy. I didn't try any more that day.

The next best standing press in our gym was 230 pounds. Most guys quite weak on the standing press.

I can curl the 40's for 10-12 reps if biceps are not fatigued already.

Wait hold up, we talking pounds or kilos?

Please don't tell me you just said you can curl 40 kilos for 12.

Jesus that is strong.

I max out on 26's tops.

Well to get that maximum control/squeese you should stop at your chin. I can't do nearly as good if I stop at my chin versus going all the way down on my upper chest to get that comfortable bounce (adding unnecessary strees to shoulder joints)

control > ammount of weight you lift

I avoid standing military like the plague now due to multiple problems, but have started doing seated on a Smith machine (no homo).

Used to rep 2 a side on standing pretty easy. Now go up to 3 a side seated on the smiths.

Haha where to start?

Tear in one front Delt. Rotator cuff injury other side.

But mostly I have major issues with anything standing that puts a load down my spine. I have one leg slightly shorter than the other, I can only imagine it's due to snapping my leg in 2 places when I was young. So now my hips sit crooked which means I can't get my spine straight without some sort of platform under one foot.

I've done one of my disks deadlifting already  :(

The deadlifting one is the only gym injury. Everything else was work or drunken escipades. I've also torn the same cruciate twice.. and have tendon damage in my hand.. I'm doing ok considering  ;D

Oh, a partial bicep tear too  :'(

I find the smith machine much worse on the cuffs, something about being locked into a straight path is very unnatural to me. With the ohp i can just sort of arc(is that the right word) the bar when it gets to the point where i know it's going to hurt my rotator cuffs

Barbel is way easier, I can probably do couple reps 80 kilos on barbel....but 40 kilo dumbbell I can't even bring it up past my hip.

In my old days, military presses (presumably no drive; I'm about to turn 37, so I don't have the Basiles and Lazarusii to consult on how it was done 2,400 years ago) were considered a delt AND triceps-building movement.  Isn't there some science behind overhead movements strongly engaging the long head, or outer head, or fucktall head, of the tris? :)

Kidding aside, military presses used to be recommended for big shoulders and big tris.  This advice might've pre-dated CGBP for tris, but whatever.  One of my favorite triceps exercises used to be seated Smith press, close-grip from the crown or tip of the nose.  It was easy to get strong on that movement and progress rapidly.

I was too fucking fat to really see what kind of triceps development it yielded, but my arms did consistently measure larger :|

Dude I don't know what the fuck has gotten into you recently, I do like 10-12 reps 20 kilos each side barbell curl, so its hardly a big deal to had 10 kilos more each side for like low reps.

80 kilos barbel curl is only 20 kilos each side + 10 kilo each side with the bar.

If anything the fatter you are the more it helps, hence why you have so many fatso power-lifters.

And no one here thinks there is anything spectacular about doing one lousy rep with 80 kilos....lol
