Terrifier was good.

If true.

I've seen it. It's a remake of "Last House on the Left", which is a remake of "The Virgin Spring". It stars David Hess, who was also a rapist in "Last House on the Left", and was once again a rapist in a movie called "Hitch Hike" which starred Franco Nero and a beautiful actress named Corrine Clery.

'Slave of the Cannibal God' is next on my list.

Another good one if you haven't already seen it is "Jungle Holocaust", same director as "Cannibal Holocaust". The whole genre was partly inspired by the 1965 American movie "The Naked Prey" which was very loosely based on the real life story of Colter's Run, except set in Africa. There are some similarities between "Jungle Holocaust" and "Naked Prey".
Bud Spencer?
I've seen maybe 15 of his movies including several of his Terrence Hill team ups.

Wow, so many responses, I'm shocked. Tonight I watched Island of death (1976), good movie

Yeah it was called The House on the Edge of the Park, from 1980
Reminds me of my childhood. There was an old bat who lived in a house on the edge of the park we used to play football in.
She'd run out shouting at us all the time. Mad old bat.
Eventually Matthew Lewis and Tom Wellings busted her windows

What made me start paying attention to the genre was hearing about Cannibal Holocaust about 8 years ago and being very surprised I'd never heard of it. I ended up seeing everything in that genre 1 time. Italian B movies had a great run from the late-fifties to the early-80s. They started with the peplum films, then spaghetti westerns, mondo documentaries, spy movies, giallo horror, crime poliziotteschi, cannibal, post-apocalyptic, and others.
Italian authorities thought Cannibal Holocaust's director actually killed people that you see in the film and he was put on trial. Brutal if true. Decide for yourself:

As an Italian American myself, I'm fascinated by this. Some Italians are twisted though (some people of any ethnicity can be twisted though)

I did like high tension and a Serbian film. But I only watched a Serbian film as my buddy played it at his house and man was that fucked up. High tension from wht I remember was in English with accent but easily understood. But most I can’t handle.never seen martyrs.

I saw high tension dubbed and almost turned it off but the wife said let’s watch it and it was good. The dubbing wasn’t horrible but for the most part I can’t handle it.

I hate dubbing. I would rather read subtitles and listen to the native language. These type of movies don't have too much dialog anyway. There's a Korean movie called Moebius (2013) where there is no dialog at all. It is a very messed up film where a woman gets mad at her husband's cheating so she cuts her son's penis off and swallows it.

Yeah you don’t really need much talking in horror movies that’s for sure. I hate dubbing as well it can be brutal. Moebius sounds brutal haha.

Really good Eli Roth film. Just watched Cannibal Ferox last night and the animal torture was even worse than Cannibal Holocaust.

Tonight I watched another great horror movie, Torso (1973)
Torso and Tenebrae are two of the best of the entire giallo(Italian suspense/horror) genre. Tenebrae was directed by Dario Argento, who's the director most associated with "giallo" movies.

Because once you start you can't stop. Tbh this movie (Don't look now, 1973) is not exactly a horror me, it's considered a ''thriller''

Great movie.
Decent part two was also ok.
-
A few oldies that are still decent:
"Children Shouldn`t Play With Dead Things"
"The Changeling" with George C. Scott not the stupid new one of the same name.
"Lost Highway"
"The Omen" you can find the original movie online at a channel called... "New Castle After Dark".
"It"....the original movie, not the so called remake.

What a coincidence - I'm watching it as we speak:
I found it on the New Castle After Dark YouTube channel:

Also - anything with George C. Scott is usually good. I was a big fan of him in "Hardcore" [1979]. I'll have to check out "The Changeling". Thanks Tim!

The Green Inferno is a modern jungle cannibal movie, inspired by the movies from the late 70's and 80's.
I thought it was unrealistic. The natives went to great trouble to kill the men in the most horrible way possible but when it came to the women it turned into a Disney movie.
-
On that stuck with me is Dying Breed. Also Wolf Creek 1 and 2. And Wrong Turn with Elisha Dushku.

One way that I knew that I was in for a good time when I was a kid was if a movie opened with this:
-
Why finish it if it's boring?
A naked and prime Julie Christie doing a sex scene?
-
The Ruins.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just watched it. I must say I loved the movie until the lead actress came back to consciousness with these cult members closing in on her when she was tied down. Without the finale I would rate the movie 9/10, but overall 6/10. Just shows you how hard it is to pull off a satisfying ending for these type of movies.
If I had to name the best horror movies from the last 20 years, Id probably include Hereditary, Midsommer, It follows and for some reason I really liked the Black Christmas remake (2006).

^THAT is a great body(and face).
Lifeforce was great, directed by the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre director.
This is 'The Virgin Spring', what 'Last House on the Left' was based on. It's in Swedish without subtitles but, especially if you already know the storyline from 'Last House on the Left', you can follow what's going on.
This talks about the Ingmar Bergman version, Wes Craven version, and 2009 remake, but not the Italian version. To me, the 1972 version really hit the hardest and felt most real.

Pamith, who would you say is your all-time favourite 'Ripper'? We've had some great ones in the UK, but there's more all over the world. Obviously, Peter Sutcliffe is a British legend. But Jack the Ripper didn't do too badly, either. I guess my favourite is Steve Wright, who killed five prostitutes in the space of a few months. Just goes to show that you can't get quicker than an Ipswich Ripper.

Watched a movie on Shudder "Broadcast Signal Inrusion" (2022), not bad...
While logging tapes of decades-old TV broadcasts, video archivist James (Harry Shum Jr.) discovers a surreal and disturbing clip that James believes is the product of a mysterious broadcast signal hacking. His discovery takes a sinister turn when he tracks down similar broadcast intrusions that send him on an obsessive mission. Now James must confront two very real possibilities: that the videos may be clues to a crime beyond all comprehension; and that whoever was behind them may be very aware that James is coming uncomfortably close to the truth.
Would have been much better if the ending was better, but whatever.

Now go watch Mardi gras massacre!! 8) and after that watch nail gun massacre, torso, strip nude for your killer, eaten alive, The Prowler (should be released in 4k soon), the funhouse, humanoids from the deep, Blood Diner, Blood Hook, Dead And Buried, Madman, Don't Go In The House, Terror Train (scorpion released the better version), Giallo In Venice (not horror but still good), Sleepaway Camp Camp series, slumber party massacre 2 and 3. I think this is a decent start for you before you really go into some dark shit. I'd say give The Gestapos last orgy a try. :D

:D

If you want to find the hardest, nastiest horror films look to Grindhouse Releasing Productions. It was founded by Sage Stallone, who in rebellion against his father wanted the hardest. anti-Hollywood horror films by Roger Corman and others. Sage wanted the nastiest, anti-Rocky Hollywood hardcore horror that existed.
It was some deep shit that went on between Sage and his Dad but it made Sage want to restore and promote hardcore horror films.
This was one of the last films Sage produced before he mysteriously died. I could go into some other deep shit with Toni Ann Filliti, Sly's sister, but I won't here. I'll just say that Sage Stallone was a champion of hardcore anti-Hollywood horror films. Here's one of the last films Sage got made, Chaos

You are not alone. I have gone months, even years without watching a movie. Not because I was worried about getting bored, but because my focus was elsewhere at the time.
Right now I'm doing one movie a night watching on a TV, but I will push that 2 movies a night in the winter as I'll switch to using a projector. Too hot to be using one right now.

This has to be the sickest and most disturbing movie ever made up until this point (Pesthauch der Menschlichkeit / Blight of humanity)
I heard from several gorehounds who are laughing about other movies labeled the "sickest movie ever" (like Serbian film, human centipede and other crap) that this one is literally unbearable. The director (Marian Dora) is one of the most infamous directors in Europe and his identity is unknown (there's not one picture of him on the internet), probably due to legal reasons, because there are widespread rumors about animal snuff, abuse and the use of real human corpses and bones and other sick stuff about his movies.
Watch this review to get an "idea" ;D

This is a 8 minute long Japanese short independent film called Zatoichi vs Predator
It is refreshing to see only Japanese in a Japanese movie with Japanese culture as opposed to hollywood inflicting their bizarre and twisted bronze age religion(one world religion(government) that too many foolishly and ironically see as being anti one world gov.) on the 99.99% that don't share their nauseating genocidal social engineering approach.
Japan is one of the last Asian holdouts. China, N. Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia went Marx/Bronstein. You know they're dying to destroy Japan aka make it in their own image.
-
The Zatoichi films are pretty good. Hanzo The Razor films are even better as there is some comedy mixed in with the action. They torture captive women spies by dropping them down on Hanzo's monster cock. ;D

I've seen all 3 Hanzos. Shintaro Katsu was also good in the Lone Wolf and Cub movies.
I think the Lone Wolf movies were part of a longer series that they edited down down into a few movies. Hanzo and Lone Wolf were based on Japanese comics.
They edited 2 Lone Wolf movies down to Shogun Assassin. I watched every Japanese exploitation movie I could find around a decade ago and need to read up on them a little.

I watched Pearl yesterday (thought it was good, not great) and am now tempted to watch X, as Pearl is a sequel.

Where is Pearl available? Prime, xfinity etc. say it's only available to pre-order.

X was a decent movie. Especially compared to most of the crap being made today.
Just watch out for the BBC 'hanging dong"...
-
Beautiful Boy (2010) Disturbing film.
-
X and pearl are both saying they are comedies on Amazon? Is it horror or comedy?

Horror/thriller definitely not comedy.
Movies to look out for:
Infinity Pool
Barbarian
Pearl

Re-watched the "The Thing" remake/sequel/prequel on TV yesterday and I must say damn, that creature was one of the most disgusting and horrifying in movie history ;D

Watched "Speak No Evil", probably one of the most disturbing movies I've seen in a while, twisted stuff... (Shudder).

Father wins BETA of the century. Not sure why they needed to keep changing up children? Was it just to steal the parents belongings? Think that was Javier Bardem’s brother.

Not yet but soon.

Cool. Something I haven't seen yet. A definite watch for this evening.
I'll check this one out.
I watched Black Phone the other day, and it was pretty damn good as well!

Seriously that father was the biggest puss. Guy didn’t even have a gun and he just does what he says. Hmmm didn’t think of that reasoning but he did say he didn’t like to work so that makes sense I guess.
-

Yup, I enjoyed that one. Had an old-school feel to it...
-
Enjoyed black phone, was decent but lacking something to make it really great. Maybe the lack of backstory to the killer. Also although Hawk played it well the character wasn't really really scary enough.

Yeah, I get what youre saying. Maybe they'll do a prequel on him, like they seem to do for everything these days.
-

the killer isn't supposed to have a backstory it's scarier the more mysterious he is, they ruined michael myers by giving him a backstory
though i agree i enjoyed black phone, but it was lacking something to make it really great, very good overall
i also recently watched the following
antlers - pretty good
goodnight mommy 2014 and 2022 - both were great but i preferred 2022, it seemed more mysterious and creepy
near dark - why is this always ranked so high on vampire movie lists? it's ok at best, ign had it ranked higher than the lost boys which is a perfect movie wtf
hellraiser 2 - i can't get into these movies, they don't show the cenobites enough and i'm not going to waste my time watching the new one with the female pinhead
E

He definitely was a getbigger

It took place in the 70's to give it that feel.

Black phone was good, the sister reminded me of my daughters personality haha, she was tough and sassy

Yup... I like that time period for horror. Slashers, tits, etc... :D
-
Never heard of Black Phone, will check it out.
While not a horror movie, I watched Day Shift yesterday. Foxx, DeFranco, Snoop and some more.... bit funny at times but overall a great movie for laughs.

Foxx was awesome in Any Given Sunday, Collateral, Ray, and Django Unchained.
-
How you doing Henda?
Doing ok brother just plodding on with things doing as docs say and trying best to be positive till I find out extent of things from consultant when I see him next month. I’ve sort of let it get in my head as notice out of breath now a lot when I wasn’t at all before that fat bitch said I had heart failure and I read up on it so think it’s just mental as it’s random and not related to effort expended. Just hoping I go and they say everything on mate

Who here would like to watch a horror flick with Pamith? Of course it would be on a leather loveseat with dual recliners, separate drink holders but one tub of buttered popcorn to share.

Pamith just needs to look in the mirror if he wants to see a horror movie.

Fun movie, the guy who wrote it (RA, The Rugged Man) is a fan of the 70's and 80's stuff, so it has a feel like those movies.

We will keep it going sf. Horror is my life, no phase here.

I am going to watch it tonight with Rory.
Popcorn, chocolate, and diet coke!!

Really? I think it was so fucking bad. I really liked Halloween kills. At least Michael was Michael. Michael wasn’t really Michael in this one. Also the kid, wtf was that about?

Michaels protege, future Michael Myers??
That didn’t even cross my mind. Would have been ok I guess but no one is Michael except Michael. It’s a sad day to see Michael die but he didn’t seem like himself maybe to old.

Henda, you are a beautiful man!!
You too my dear friend. Can’t wait for me you and Rob to have a sleepover and stay up late watching horror films in our pyjamas

I didn't get it at all. Sometimes Micheal is old and frail but then he picks that chick up off the ground, choking her with one hand. The kid overpowered him and took his mask?
-

Yeah both those things were fucked. The kid overpowering him legit just blew my mind. And lifting the chick one armed is absolute crazed strength.

The last few have been terrible. Everything the original Halloween did right, the newer ones do wrong.

Kind of more of the same. Not bad, but not special either.

Worth a repost.

I read what happens, shame it's done after he's barely in the film. People have said its a weird and bizarre direction to have gone in this one, with baf characters and shitty dialogue.
I'll check it out but will skip the cinema, heard it's just a borefest with no horror for the first 50 mins.

Only available by purchase. Wait until its available to rent, I purchased but it's not a movie I'll watch over and over. X was a lot better. Barbarian was just weird. Great potential but mostly a fail.
-
Terrifer 2 is wicked. Some seriously sick kills and some fit bitches in it too. This one absolute cracker wears the horniest little Halloween party outfit, also Art the the clown is one creepy Kunt and in this one he has a sidekick.
Halloween ends really disappointing. Some needy little dork fucked the whole narrative.
-
I need to find a few to download. Have a 32 hour trip coming up and United doesn't really have the best movies in their library on the planes.
-
Just watched speak no evil. Now that's a real film, solid performances all round, you care for the family, doesnt need constant kills and gore to keep attention. The end is a real gut punch, better than hollywood shit today.

Yeah check it out brother, you'll love it! Art the clown is the best horror villain I have seen in ages, his trash bag full of weapons and then the brutal shit he does takes the whole genre up a notch!
On a personal one hope you are feeling better buddy, recovering nicely and everything going well.

Gotta love Art tho

Great movie! All of Lars von Trier's movies are great. Dancer In The Dark is the only musical I have ever enjoyed. Dogville is the only stage film I have ever enjoyed.
-
Gotta love Art tho
Art reminded me of Freddy Krueger from the later sequels. Needs to cut down on smilling and be more like Tim Curry's Pennywise when angers sets in
-
Terrifier 2 👍
Watched like 5 minutes of it. Should be called Blood and guts.

I'm not a fan of the horror genre, but I saw The Menu yesterday. I really liked it. It's silly, but it's original. It's billed as a black comedy/horror, though it's not really your classic horror-type. It's amusing and entertaining, though. A lot of people describe Anya Taylor-Joy as a hammerhead shark, but I think she's hot and a good actress, so that helps.
The atmosphere in the cinema amused me when it ended. Everyone was quite subdued. My girlfriend just laughed in disbelief and said 'what the fuck was that', lol. Definitely a unique film.

Going to see the silly Xmas horror "Violent Night" tomorrow AM.
Looks ridiculous (but good).
Just watched:
Coming Home in the Dark (2021) (Netflix)
Pretty crazy... More of a "killer" movie than horror, but good.

Troll VS KingKong?
-
Finally got to watched terrifier 2 and honestly was a bit disappointed. The inclusion of some sort of story was a mistake fuck knows what’s going on with that stupid bastard magic sword at the end and it seemed to take ages to get going. Still worth watching but think I like the first a lot better

Reminds me of a movie I liked as a kid "War of the Gargantuas"... "Creature Double Feature" every SAT afternoon.

Finally got to watched terrifier 2 and honestly was a bit disappointed. The inclusion of some sort of story was a mistake fuck knows what’s going on with that stupid bastard magic sword at the end and it seemed to take ages to get going. Still worth watching but think I like the first a lot better
Here's the thing, Terrifier 1 was just a Slasher-movie
In Terrifer 2 they tried to create a Mythos of sort a la Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare-franchise and added Supernatural Elements of Peace
It's similar to both Halloween / Michael Myers and Friday 13th / Jason Voorhees that they started out as regular Slashers and then added Supernatural Elements as the series progressed.
Jason Voorhees for example went from a disfigured kid wearing a sack to a Full Fledged Zomboid wearing his iconic Hockeymask.
Later on Jason went to Hell and even Space in Jason X :D
-
I hope they don't get too whacky w/ Art (ATC), would rather keep him as the slasher like in the 1st one.
Didnt like the very ending of Ter-2, but overall I enjoyed the movie.

Art will be back in Terrifier 3 i am sure.
Hopefully they will use less supernatural influences

Reminds me of a movie I liked as a kid "War of the Gargantuas"... "Creature Double Feature" every SAT afternoon.
What fun times...
I saw that as a kid. I'll always remember one eating a woman and spitting out the dress.

Was Troll worth watching? I have it in my list on Netflix, but figured I'd ask my fellow getbiggers before watching that instead of busting nuts in the old lady.

How about switching it up a bit?
Bust some nuts in the Troll and then watch the old lady?
-
I got to the sword bit and thought wtf, it kinda shitted on it, straight up slasher was working better. Some of the fx like when he slashed that woman down the face going through her eye were awesome.

I liked it, depends on your taste though. Some might hate it.
I'd rather bust a nut over any movie, so there's that.
I did both today though. Had a nude roll-around w/ the wife, then went to the theatre to see "The Menu", decent movie.
And a great way to spend a MON... Lots of work-days (PTO) off to burn in DEC this year...

From what I read, Art was always a mythical creature.
Sort of makes sense, like in "All Hallows Eve", the video tape stuff, the way he appeared on the road after they already drove past him, etc...
-
I hope they invent a Creature that can only be defeated by an Ice Machine
-
And what was the ending about!
Victim gives birth to Arts head, some screwed up imaginations in film.
Killings are good though, ones that you cant imagine the pain if it happened to you

The further adventures of Tennessee Buck. Playboy Playmate Kathy Shower is captured by a cannibal tribe deep in the jungles of Boreno where they use her for a sexual sacrifice. She gets abused by both the women and the big chief in that film.

Africa Addio - Africa Blood and Guts
Africa Addio (also known as Africa: Blood and Guts in the United States and Farewell Africa in the United Kingdom) is a 1966 Italian mondo documentary film co-directed, co-edited and co-written by Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi with music by Riz Ortolani.
Jacopetti and Prosperi had gained fame (along with co-director Paolo Cavara) as the directors of Mondo Cane in 1962.
Africa Addio documents the end of the colonial era in Africa, and the violence and chaos that followed.
The film was a huge success, which ensured the viability of the so-called "Mondo film" genre, a cycle of "shockumentaries"- documentaries featuring sensational topics.
The film encountered criticism and praise due to its controversial content, but is nevertheless considered to be a very important film in the history of documentary filmmaking.

Men Behind the SUn
An elderly Chinese death camp prisoner is locked, naked, into a metal-walled room. We don’t know what that place is before the door is sealed. It’s a submarine-looking kind of environment.
It doesn’t look good…
Suddenly the man starts screaming from a pain in his ears. He collapses, squirming, as his body starts bloating like a puffer-fish.
Sadistic doctors watch from above, as more atmospheric pressure is exerted upon the prisoner.
When the body can’t handle no more pressure, his intestines snake out of his anus, expelled from the inside-out.

Not very scary, not very disturbing, no clue why people say it’s so good or one of scariest movies. I watched it a few years ago and didn’t remember much so I just watched it again last week to see what was so scary about it and it was pretty boring to be honest.

Thanks, lads. Yeah, that's what I generally find with these things, too. I get that certain concepts can weigh heavily on people, but most of the time when I'm told something is 'terrifying' or 'disturbing', it usually turns out to be a load of shit. Can't be assed listening to a woman's sobs and screams for hours. If I wanted that, I'd move next door to Hankins :D.

Bautista is actually a pretty good actor. Was surprised.

It’s not bad. I mean, it’s not ground breaking but worth the watch on a Sunday night with Rory!

His endings usually do suck but old was pretty good.

I did watch old, kept me until the end but don't remember the point of it. Wasn't too memorable.

True, it is hard to remember especially if you are old like me.

Knock at the cabin was ok, no explanation for anything though.
Just watched "sick" way better, small film directed by John Hyams who directed the most violent universal soldier movie.
This was decent, good blood and gore.

Brilliant movie 8) Off the top of my head, I can't think of a Carpenter film I didn't like. Even made my 16 year old daughter watch Big Trouble in Little China for the first time recently ;D
On topic: Not sure I'd class this as horror - more gentle thriller/comedy maybe, but I watched this the other day and it was... ... OK

Yeah, I know what you mean. Cinematically it looks nice on a modern big TV, but the 'action' I think should be considered in the context of the late '50s - I'm not surprised it shocked those audiences. Fast forward 40/50 years to things like 'Saw' and 'Human Centipede' and it loses a bit of impact ;D
Are you going to watch Psycho 2 (1983)? I found it really enjoyable, and I didn't see the twist coming. However, I am pretty slow off the mark with things like that (6th Sense, The Matrix, etc. all fooled me until the reveal) so a smarter GetBigger might see it coming a mile away ;)
-
Oh, and talking of plot twists - and now this is a thriller rather than a horror, so maybe not for this thread - but I just watched 'Shutter Island' (2013) recently...
Really enjoyed it - had me guessing until literally the last few lines of dialogue and then a few moments after the last words I suddenly got it!! Taffin recommended 8) - interested to see if anyone else enjoyed it

Yeah, I know they did an actual re-make back in 2013 or so of the original.
This was more of a new story, new family gets a hold of the book of the dead...
(But I know what you mean) like a re-boot.
I try not to tell people "yeah it was good" or "it was great" etc. anymore.
Just that I enjoyed it. A lot of fun this one...

"The Popes Exorcist" (Russel Crowe). Decent movie.
Had all the usual things (heads spinning, walking on all 4's like a spider/insect, etc)...

Just watched Barbarians on the flight over here. It was ok. First 1/3 was great with the slow build up in tension. After that just so-so.
It was a rain day yesterday so I stayed in last night. Watched some movie that was pretty good and scary. No idea what the name of it was as it was in Japanese (dubbed) but had White/English actors in it. Someone may recognize it. It was set on an oil drilling / research type platform in the ocean. Had a plot twist similar to the one in Identity with John Cosack.
Some movies do the isolation factor well so that it contributes to the plot line (Shining, The Thing, Alien, Evil Dead, etc) this one did too.
-
Just saw an as for Forest Of Death. Has anyone seen it?

Lately I`ve been watching about 20 minutes of a zillion so called horror movies before I change the channel in disgust.........most are utter garbage.
Have they forgotten how to make anything creepy/actually eerily scary.....now it`s just the standard "Six teens go to a haunted cabin in the woods" bullshit?

Nearly everything and theme has been covered already. It’s hard to find something original. That’s why the Blair Witch Project did so well. Shitty plot but they pulled it off with the unusual (at that time) found footage type film.
Also the invincible type killer has gotten stale. Jason Freddy Michael etc
And you can’t feel bad about the victims now when there have been 4,000 people killed at Camp Crystal Lake and dumbasses still go there. At night. In a rain storm. While horny. And with a piece of shit car that won’t start for 9 days after you turn it off.

There was a Korean "Forest of Death" back in 2007 which wasnt bad. (A different story)...

Yeah, I started watching The Pope's Exorcist last night and got (no spoilers) to the point where the Family turned up at the place being restored then paused for the points below*
Good points
Love Rusty Crowe, and his Italian was pretty good (and surprising)
Good cinematography
Not so good points*
The non-binary looking 'son' that is clearly going to be the victim
The fucken bitch 15 yr old daughter smoking and giving her Mom shit
Any GetBiggers know if it's worth watching to the end please?

Monster inside: Americas most extreme haunted house, on Hulu.
Documentary about Russ Mckamey who owns an immersive horror experience that can last up to 10 hours and involves psychological and physical torture. If you make it through you win 20k.
Participants have to sign a 40 page waiver and be cleared by a medical doctor.
Participants have teeth pulled, eating their own their up, water boarding, isolation, drugging people.
"The haunted attraction, founded by Russ McKamey in San Diego, CA, has been operation for years, and still has a cult-following of loyal fans. McKamey refers to the experience as a tour, which is meant to last 10 hours, promising a $20,000 cash prize to anyone who can withstand the full experience. (Spoiler alert: no one has ever made it that far.) Each tour is tailored to the individual participating, playing upon their biggest fears and phobias. Past visitors of McKamey Manor have reported leaving with broken bones, shaved heads, extracted teeth, and, of course, psychological trauma. Visitors must sign an extensive (40 page long) liability waiver before participating in the experience, which essentially allows Manor "volunteers" to torture them however they see fit. This torture can include waterboarding, being tased, drugging, being forced to eat and drink items including vomit, restraints, and much more."

On my list. Is it a prequel?
Saw X is a 2023 American horror film directed and edited by Kevin Greutert and written by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film is the tenth installment in the Saw film series, that serves as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005). Starring Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith reprising their roles from the previous films, with Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Renata Vaca, and Michael Beach, John Kramer (Bell) travels to Mexico in hopes that an experimental procedure may cure him, later discovering a scam within the operation. As retribution, he kidnaps those responsible and subjects them to his trademark death traps.

That one was great back then. The director (Neil Marshall) was one of the most hyped up and comers in the mid to late 2000s (also did Doomsday and Centurion later on), but then kinda completely disappeared all of a sudden. ???
Maybe he quit after getting rich.
-
Almost forgot that one from a couple of years ago - great one, very underrated
-
If you're looking for a movie that beats the living crap outta you, I highly recommend that one (the French Original from 2008, not the US remake from 2015, which I haven't seen but is supposedly pretty tame).
I'm not highly sensitive, but that movie gave me flashbacks for weeks and is actually one of the very few I swore to god I'll never ever watch again.

Not really. Just got into directing more niche films (fantasy).

I like this series

Make sure you think about MattC's 6 ropes during the movie

I don't regret seeing it but will never watch it again, and I can't recommend it. It's like a feature-length snuff film with extreme cruelty.
I will say that the house was really nice.

Yes, I own that movie. Truly one of the most disturbing horror movies. A Serbian Film is another one.

Cobweb, hell house origins

Weird film but strangely it keeps your attention. I won't watch a serbian film, heard it has baby rape.

Just watched hell house origins, it was pretty good.

I didn't find A Serbian Film hard to watch at all to be honest, laughable at best. Especially the "newborn porn" scene looks like some a*hole sticks a doll on his cock lol Just a pathetic breach of taboo screaming for attention.

Do not recommend. Trailer and first ten minutes were excellent but that was it. Don’t waste your time.

The disturbing part was him finding out he screwed Petr.

Yeah, but the whole scene was so over the top that it was pretty hard to take it seriously. Serbian film rather gave me that "I don't know whether to laugh or to cry"-vibes for the most part, Martyrs almost made me feel physically ill for the rest of the day (and even the next day).
-
This movie is still one of the most despicable and disgusting ever made for the sheer fact that they were torturing and killing living animals in front of the camera just to add some shock value because they had no more money for Special FX. The scene where they're slaughtering the giant turtle alive is amongst the most horrifying in cinematic history and one of the lead actors was so ashamed for participating in it later on that he never stepped foot in public ever again.
-
Cannibal Holocaust was brutal as well. Watching animals tortured bothered me more than watching humans tortured. The humans were just actors but the animals were really tortured.

Yeah,I coudn`t watch that one.

@15:40 - can u imagine a movie being shot under those circumstances these days? :D
-
Now any movie with animals has the "No animals were harmed in the making of this film" at the end of it. American Humane probably started monitoring films being made after that movie.

Wake in Fright (film is on YT) has a scene of actual 'roo hunting. Nicely unsettling film with a vey good Donald Pleasence.

yeah

Bozo: [Locked in bedroom as monster is coming through window] Okay! I'm ready to come out now!
Bartender: [Bartender fumbles outside with key; it breaks in the lock] Oh.

Well,, 3rd tier John Wick of peace. If i had to give a genre to that movie it would be "fantasy". One just doesn't get shot 3 times and stabed in the neck with a Rambo like sword , and keeps fighting like Bruce Lee.

Its a movie. When you start to watch a revenge based movie, do you go in with realistic expectations?
No revenge movies are realistic. I have not seen one revenge type movie that can actually happen in real life.

True. But Silent Night is a major let down.

Jackie Chan is a boy who is used as a janitor at his kung-fu school. Jackie Chan can't fight and is always getting bullied by the teachers and pupils.
One day an old man helps Jackie train in an art of kung-fu called the ' Snake's Fist '. Jackie doesn't get bullied again.
Then Jacki creates his own style and mixes it with the Snake's Fist. His style is based on the movement and actions of a cat.
One day the old man is in trouble by a man who does ' The Eagle's Claw' and Jackie helps the old man.

The Triangle
Actually it was decent. Not really a horror movie, more like suspenseful. For it to go the horror route they needed to spend more time compounding the isolation factor.
A lot of movies use isolation as a way to up the tension and hopeless feeling the victims find themselves in when there is no escape. Snowed in ski lodge, Artic outpost, underwater base, remote cabin in the middle of nowhere, etc... in this case it was an empty luxury liner on the ocean. That story line has huge potential, but no movie has quite pulled it off yet. Ghost Ship tried (and failed at the end)

Hellraiser Revelations I quite enjoyed. The Hell on Earth one is also pretty good.

I'm pretty sure that Jodie is a smoker. That'll put vertical wrinkles in your upper lip.
Check out The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. Martin Sheen at his most menacing.
There's a nude scene that apparently Jodie's sister did for her since Jodie was a minor.

Watched 31 last night. It is a Rob Zombie film. Along the same lines of House of 1000 Corpses. However he was prevented from using the likeness and names of the characters from that movie so this is a whole new set up. Had a couple Easter Egg type references in it. It was good.

Thanks for the link, will definitely watch later
For me, Event Horizon is on a short list of films where if I change channel or walk into the room and it's already playing I'll watch to the end - again - even though I've seen it multiple times. Couldn't explain why...
Others are Silence of the Lambs, Alien, Jason and the Argonauts (original) and any of the old-school epics with Charlton Heston in them - Ben Hur, El-Cid, Greatest Story, etc.

Went to the theatre to see "The First Omen" pretty good...
-
Confirmed that the final film for the 28 -ology will be finished in June 2025.
28 Years Later. And will star Cillian Murphy from the original 28 Days Later.
Personally I liked 28 Days Later. The first half. Once they reached the military compound - while good - I lost interest. The first half about the abandoned city, escape attempt, seeking refuge, survival skills, infected ragers (sort of what most cross fitters are modeled after) was awesome. The whole movie should have been about that and trying to escape the quarantine zone. But they stumbled in the second half. Oh well.

Abigail. Typical demonic child genre. Not a fan of these movies, but it's good enough.

The Profane Exhibit; it's an anthology film from some of the most notorious directors in the world, never got released (supposedly due to it's extreme content).
I just saw that somebody uploaded it (I still have to check it out myself)

Quiet Place, Day One was decent.
"Humane" on shudder was a good movie.

His modern movies are awful. He owes the IRS millions so he has to make these low budget films to pay them back. MANDY is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

He was never a good actor in the first place to be honest. He seemed to get away with it in the 90s, but watching some old movies from his heydays like Con Air or Face/Off today, it's utterly terrible (especially when he tries to show emotions or stuff like that, it's so comedic, u wonder how anyone ever could take that seriously ;D).

I agree he overacted in a HUGE way but his early stuff was such that you could just turn off your brain and enjoy the low budget stuff that it was, and lose 90 minutes time just for the Hell of it.....kind of escapism so to speak.

His best movie was Leaving Las Vegas and he was the worst actor of the whole cast.

In essence.......HE SUCKED! :D
-
On the flight over, I watched Abigail. 2/5 stars from me. It started out very promising. But became a joke in the middle ("let's split up and search the house")... the ending sort of built back up... but couldn't save it.
Then I watched Night Swim. I didn't care for it. It was like they took that one pool scene from Burnt Offerings and tried to establish an entire movie on that concept. (where the pool tries to kill someone).
Out of frustration I rewatched Train to Busan again. That is always a great movie.
-
Just about to re-watch 'The Shining'
Kind of looking forward to it... ;D
-
Watched longlegs, all hype. Nothing happens, good cinematography and acting, that's it.
Train to busan is a great film, well put together.
-
Saw the trailer. Doesn't seem very promissing.
Seems promising though.

If u really wanna see some "next-level" sh*t, check this one out (with caution). This is among the most disturbing movies ever made and considering they probably had no money for Special FX, I really wonder why this POS director is not in jail yet (not just for this movie, but also for others lol)

English subs., but there isn't too much dialogue anyway. You'd be able to follow the "storyline" even without em

Another one you may like my friend:
"Howl is a 2015 British horror film about werewolves attacking passengers on a stranded train. Some say the movie's British tone refreshes the werewolf genre while keeping it traditional.
Others say the film's brevity makes the story arc more effective and improves the pacing.
Howl was directed by Paul Hyett and written by Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler. It stars Ed Speleers, Sean Pertwee, Holly Weston, Shauna Macdonald, Elliot Cowan, Rosie Day, Calvin Dean, Duncan Preston, and Ross Mullan."

Great movie. Using isolation as a factor into the terror (in the Artic, stuck in a ski lodge, cruise ship, middle of nowhere, etc...) is awesome if done right.

This one still works after more than 4 decades, that's how you recognize a true masterpiece. Was like 15-20 years ahead of it's time.
The remake/prequel from like 10 years ago was actually pretty decent as well.

I've heard he is all paid up and Pig was his re entry into quality movies. But like most people I am skeptical... He went the route of Steven Segal and Wesley Snipes for awhile. Not sure he can come back from that
-
Rewatched 1408 with John Cusack and Samuel Jackson recently. Probably my 3rd time. As "modern" horror movies go, I thought this one was well done.
-

Absolutely, plus the way he ratcheted the tension up as the crew got smaller and smaller - really glad I watched it

Still holds up for me - 100% - the practical effects were stomach-churning. I was thinking afterwards that's almost certainly the first time I watched it on a big HD screen, so I experienced it in that 'cinematic' way for the first time too...
Should I watch the new one then? I'm not a big fan of CGI (if that's the way they went)
Forgotten that classic myself.
It's one of those where I couldn't take my eyes off from start to finish - if you haven't seen it for a while I highly recommend it
-
Also caught 'Event Horizon' again - not sure why, but it's another that hooks me in if I catch the first few minutes, even if the premise is a bit cheesy...
(Funny how much smoking used to take place on spaceships in the past/future! ;D)

There are def a lotta CGI effects, but pretty decent ones as far as I remember.
It was def one of the best Horror-franchise-revivals from the 2010s (a lot of em were awful)

Re watched the invisible man yesturday, leigh Whannel is a great director, he also did upgrade. Small budgets, but look great, tight and effective scenes.
He should have been given the later terminator films the guy has vision.
Also re-watched brightburn, really enjoyed that, evil kid superman.

Too much gore for my taste. Yes the last part of the movie is a complete turn around of the rest of the movie, like they changed directors or something. Special effects are great though, very realistic, doesn't seem like CGI.
-
I don't mind gore, looking forward to terrifier 3.

There is also a Smile 2 coming out as well. I saw the preview for it last month when watching Aliens : Romulus.

Late night with the Devil
Not bad. Not scary but if you like retro horror then it's worth a look, reminds me a bit of 1992's Ghostwatch by the BBC which this flick obviously borrowed elements from.

Have you watched it? Rumor has it they really killed the girl in the end for that movie. They were definitely not using any props or CGI for that one and when he cuts off her nipples, it looks so f*ing real, I wonder how they did that... :o

Yep
-
Just watched it.
I thought the movie had real promise, choosing youth over your aging self, there had to to be consequences and the deterioration of the original body was a good idea.
The ending ruined it, i don't like over the top splatter gore, the realistic aging makeup effects were great early on then we got a creature plucked out of the 70s movies like they'd run out of money.
Good start, though not perfect completely ruined with stupidity.
If you like gore, you will love the ending.

Jester started great, very promissing. Had high hopes for the rest of the movie. Unfortunately came out short. Very short.
Was The Jester played by Danny DeVito or the actor from Willow?
-
Just watched it.
I thought the movie had real promise, choosing youth over your aging self, there had to to be consequences and the deterioration of the original body was a good idea.

Agreed. The last 20 minutes ruined what could have been quite a good film.

Bad Moon, 1996.
Decent werewolf movie, for those who appreciate the genre.

New Salem’s Lot was pretty good, on HBO Max or Hulu

Lol.
Still worth watching though, despite the change of tone in the last 20 minutes.

Yeah it did... I still liked it, I'm not real picky, as long as its not too horrible and filmed w/ a Potatoe...

I watched American Werewolf in London over the weekend for the first time in probably 30 years. Loved that movie as a kid. That fucking nurse that David Naughton was fucking still gives me a hard on.

That was crazy technology for the times. Was that John Landis? The guy who did the video for Michael Jackson's Thriller? I think it was.

Watched long legs last night. Pretty good but weird as shit. Nicholas cage did a good job playing that fucking weird bastard.
-
How was the rape scene, P-dawg? Any good? What would you say is the best rape scene in cinematic history?
not sure if anyone’s posted it yet but easily the most memorable rape scene is Ned Beaty in Deliverance.
-
I was so disappointed in that, it looked good but waited the whole movie for something to happen.
Cage needed more screentime.

Wrote a parody song (Like S.O.D.) back in 1988 and recorded it w/ our band at the time.
Wish I still had it, it was pretty funny... (Ned Beatty's Cheeks).
Ned Beatty's cheeks were perched upon a log,
His shit was packed by a hillbilly's hog,
His anus was intruded by a toothless country freak,
He just laid there and moaned, man it must have hurt for weeks,
Ned Beatty's Cheeks...
The Freak said John has a "purty mouth,
He wanted him to suck his sack,
But Burt rowed up to save the day,
And shot an arrow in his back,
Ned Beatty's Cheeks...
(Thats all i can remember) ::)
-
Poor Ned!! LOL ;D

Went to see the new "Nosferatu" this AM... Good movie. But could have been better IMO (less talking, more gore/action).
Still enjoyed it though..
Excellent as far as production and 'the set' (Germany in the year 1838 and then on to Transylvania).
Skarsgard was good as Count Orlock. Anyways...

Cool! I must admit to lately just loading up on "Ancient Aliens" and related shows, LOL! That and old Christmas themed films like the original "Christmas in Connecticut" and "It Happened On Fifth Avenue". I like stuff like those two films very much.
And the alien stuff? I just miss "home". ;D

Agreed! It is difficult this time of year at our age, especially so. I lost my mother and a younger brother this past year. We are at the age we begin losing loved ones and it sucks and watching some of those old films only makes it hurt more for awhile.

on second series of House of Cards
very good... Spacey is outstanding in it, also Robin Wright is perfect in her role

Oldie one. Was expecting it to be worse.
Half the fun are the street footage of the eighties, the buildings and stuff from that time.

On the flight back I watched Tarot. I was surprised American Airlines had a horror section (labeled Scares). It was ok. If you want something decent to watch and not invest too much in, I would recommend it.
I also watched Annihilation that was under the Scares genre. It was not a horror movie at all - not sure why they put it there - but it was interesting as well. Another one to watch if you are just in the mood to veg out and have the tv pander to you.

I didn't see either of those. But god damn if they didn't have every single LoTR, Scream, Harry Potter, Marvel and Twilight.... made scrolling a pain.

This year's Nosferatu is watchable if you are a fan of the genre.
Uncharismatic actors and pretty much the same Dracula story, with different and boring characters. Depp's daughter does a good role, given that she look already mildly crazy without acting, plus the great nipples compensate the small tits.

This one I plan to see but it was weird - when it debuted, it got ridiculous reviews, now it's settled into that 7 out of 10 range.

Saw it in the cinema when I was home over Christmas leave. Sadly, it was really quite boring. Bit of a letdown. However, I find Lily-Rose Depp to be outrageously good looking, so I survived the ordeal by groping my partner's thigh whenever Depp's tits appeared on screen in order to provoke a furious hand slap.

Apart from the scenery it was really a huge let down for me. Boring AF too
-
Also watched ''Never let go'' and ''Barbarian''. The first one was garbage. Barbarian was promising at first but a deranged disfigured woman with huge knockers was not scary at all. She looked like ''Hatchet's'' Victor Crowley's twin sister lol

Indeed!

I watched "Barbarian" on Hulu 2 nights ago.....it was like 3 different segments/movies in one.....I liked it, but it got a bit campy at the end, but overall, not bad considering the shitty horror flicks that pass as horror flicks these days.

Ok, GB Horror Movie Aficionados... trivia question here for a movie I saw about 20 years ago while in University. Can't remember the name or how it ended. The general plot is as described :
Group of teenagers (of course) goes to a carnival where they offend some moody as fortune teller / wish granter / witch / whatever. She grants them all one wish that will come true. Obviously, they don't think things through.
One wanted to be rich - he was maimed and paralyzed from the neck down in an accident that resulted in him receiving millions of dollars from the company behind the accident. For nothing more than to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling everyday.
One girl wanted to be "hot". She caught fire and was burned over 90% of her body resulting in a lifetime of endless skin grafts, pain, surgeries, peer rejection, etc..
One girl wanted some boy from school to fall in love with her. He did. Turns out he was a drug addict, woman beating, abusive, and eventually murdering scumbag that she suffered for years at the hands of until trying to leave him and he killed her.
One wanted to be a movie star. Unfortunately it was a legit underground snuff movie that she was staring in.
You get the gist of it? I know it was from Blockbuster back then, not sure if it was on the movie screens. Does anyone recognize this from my description?
-
Looking forward for the reply. Seems like a great movie. Have you tried Chat GPT with those cliff notes?

You get the gist of it? I know it was from Blockbuster back then, not sure if it was on the movie screens. Does anyone recognize this from my description?
Try "Careful What You Wish For"

SF1900 is probably correct but any of the very many films and TV shows like this, are based on "The Monkeys Paw".

The Wisher.
In the 2002 horror movie "The Wisher," a young woman named Mary, obsessed with horror films, watches a movie called "The Wisher" where a sinister entity grants wishes, and soon after, she finds that her own dark desires are mysteriously coming true, with the character from the film seemingly appearing in her life to fulfill them, often with twisted and deadly consequences; essentially, the movie explores the idea of a fictional character from a horror film becoming real and granting wishes in a terrifying way.

Just saw Wolf Creek 2 and it is much better than the first. The carnage is very well done. The intro is the best.

Hey thanks. I looked that up. Not the same one I saw but of the same theme.
-
On Hulu I just watched : Haunting of the Queen Mary
The haunted ocean liner theme is not utilized as much as it could be. Other than Ghost Ship and Triangle, there are no other worthy contenders. The Netflix series 1899 started out great and had a lot of potential, but flounder before shitting the bed after a few episodes.
This was no different. Great principle and concept. Nice touches. But it just flopped.
Back to the drawing board trying to find the next decent horror flick.

Today's horror movies just don't have the same scare factor or psychological impact that the old ones do. Maybe it's because we are numb to it. Or maybe because every theme has been done to death. In the 80s it was different because they were pushing the boundaries a bit more and studios and censors were relaxing the rules some. But today it takes something truly original to catch on.

U gotta investigate the more underground stuff. Everything with a theatrical release can't shock anyone anymore.

There are some very good foreign horror films.

in the 80s i think these so called Snuff movies were around & stuff like "Faces of Death"
was a scene where a guy walked into a Board room meeting, pulled out a pistol & blew his brains out.

Faces Of Death was very good although a lot of it was staged. We thought it was all real at the time. Cannibal Holocaust was brutal.

yeah..i watched it in the 80s.. people would laugh at it now.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of foreign horror films are doing much better than what the US churns out. They have become experts in slow burning the tensions and dread factor as opposed to the typical and predictable jump scares that are overused now days.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was about the parachutist that landed in the crocodile farm and THEY DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING!!!

I know! There were many disappointments. Still a classic though.

Like many other "modern" things they suck - shitty effects, actors, sadism and zero atmosphere...
-
I'm not sure when I last saw a very good horror movie. One can rewatch is the hills have eyes remake, big scale epic kinda feel to it, not confined but works well. Wish ted levine lasted longer in it though.
-
Watched "Talk To Me" last night. This was actually a really good concept and a bit original. It was slow at times, but 3 out of 5 stars.

28 Years Later is coming out in June. I really liked the first two so may make an effort to see it in theaters.
---
While these are not scary movies, if someone is looking for something really good to watch on Netflix, I have very recently enjoyed :
Hooligan - excellent
Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War - excellent
Alpha - kind of Disney-ish but good.
American Primeval - excellent
and currently watching El Chapo.
---
-
I stopped with el chappo, just couldn't get into it ir care.
American primeval was great, non stop gritty action. 28 Years Later is coming out in June. I really liked the first two so may make an effort to see it in theaters.
