Yes, I competed in the same show, on the boardwalk in AC. 1996-NABBA...Remember...I placed 3rd, and you and your girl at the time said I should of got 2nd...It was in March or April I believe. Yes, I can confirm Jack did win and went to Worlds to place 3rd....it did qualify him as a "Professional"
Actually Jack was very helpful to me in that show, informed me about my color and what to eat after
pre-judge, I was not 100% carbed-up, a little flat, but was very dry and hard!

If that was indeed the night of your biggest achievement in this "sport" then you certainly must have kept at least a few candid pictures to cherish the moment.
Everyone hates Bob, some say because he has horrible taste in clothing, others can't swallow the bitter taste produced by his remarkable resemblance to Joe Piscopo and others, like me, just think Bob needs to quit this bodybuilding crap and devote himself solely to a true career in the highly profitable gay-4-pay industry. Yet, even though he is despicable, the fact of the matter is that you don't have any substantial proof to your claims, but meaningless private messages and a roster that isn't even official and can be changed by anyone.

Two things, asking me to post a picture in this instance is nearly an admission that you have no argument left. The second I claim to win a show then you can ask for a picture.
If you posted a picture of you on stage holding the trophy you would have proven your point and no one would be able to question you. Clearly you know a picture wins this battle yet you can't/won't produce one.
The thing that's most puzzling is that you say you don't have a picture or can't find a picture. Given the nature of bodybuilding and the fact that you would be proud of winning a competition your claim is hard to fathom.

I more than anyone else want you to prove Chick wrong, but the truth still stands that it seems a bit farfetched that you don't even have a picture holding up a trophy, check, dildo, anal beads or even any sort of title on your best day on stage. If that was indeed the night of your biggest achievement in this "sport" then you certainly must have kept at least a few candid pictures to cherish the moment. Everyone hates Bob, some say because he has horrible taste in clothing, others can't swallow the bitter taste produced by his remarkable resemblance to Joe Piscopo and others, like me, just think Bob needs to quit this bodybuilding crap and devote himself solely to a true career in the gay-4-pay industry. Yet, even though he is despicable, the fact of the matter is that you don't have any substantial proof to your claims, but meaningless private messages and a roster that isn't even official and can be changed by anyone. Jack, search for it and post something official, everyone is on your side here and the engines are running to provide Chick with the PWNING of his life, but unless you provide a strong base, all we have to bash him with are his horrible stints as a movie actor, his horrendous attire, his controversial win at the Masters, his uncanny way of being a YES-man and his reputation as being the most hated IFBB pro. Although we certainly can work with those things, an official document showing the validity of the said event would provide the final nail for the coffin.

I've been googling for the 1997 NABBA North American Championships and all I get is the 2004 as an existing contest. It is 1997 right? NABBA's official site says the same. Musclememory.com also. I'll look again later.

That's right Bob is the man. He and Gunter should be put on a pedestal and be the top guys featured in all of the magazines. All of these other competitors are ugly as shit. When I look at a magazine I strive to look like these guys that can actually impress chicks with their good looks, muscular appearance and successful look. There's always a few side to the story though...there's a lot of smaller organizations that simply don't keep records or anything like that....they're pretty much small time shows.
Now, the chances that you don't have pics of yourself in a show really aren't that odd....here's a case. I competed a while back, and it was in a different city. Only one of my friends could make it, and he snapped a few pics along with taking some video on his digital cam. I won my weight class, and he caught that on video. There were some photos online and such, but only the overall winners were displayed in photos, and a simple sentence stating they won. And once the website got overhauled, all previous photos and results disappeared. In fact, if it weren't for my personal photos and such, I couldn't prove to anybody what happened that day either. And I don't have any photos with my actual trophy, just pics of us onstage wearing competitors ribbons (which all competitors got). But I still have the trophy....but being a small time show, there were no engravings on it, simply "First Place". And the only other way to get pics at show is to pay the fee for the 'company photograher' to snap a few in a package, which was pricey. I paid it, but there were many who did not, or could not. So there's very few ways to keep the memories, if the chips are down.
Mind you, Rhino competed in a NABBA national level show, not some small time regional qualifier...so you'd think there was some photographs.
I can understand why someone wouldn't post pics of themselves here, because people just go to town with the ownings. Look what happened to 240 and Vince Goodrum! Can you blame anybody for not putting up pics of themselves? Maybe he doesn't want to post said pics because he wasn't happy with the way he looked...but winning the overall would mean you'd look MUCH better than many who post here, so go figure.
But if you're out to prove something, then do so properly. If there truly aren't any pics, Rhino, then it's best just to realize that since you can't prove it, most won't believe you. That's just the way it is. Most people really don't care, but it is entertaining listening to Chick and you go at it. That's what getbig is for....LAUGHS!!! ...at least, in the gossip and opinions section.
Anyway, if the PDI has a show, and you compete, then we'll see those pics no doubt. If not, getbig never forgets and it'll be a topic brought up every time you say something. If you really don't care, then I wouldn't post anything looking for apologies or that sort.

Decades later, we proved this claim to be scientifically impossible. Bob Gruskin is the president of NABBA USA and was a rather well known writer and photographer for the bodybuilding mags. you can see his byline and photo credits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Bob has been very helpful with my musclememory database. He continues to send me results as he finds them. However he has boxes and boxes of papers that have yet to be sorted through. He also has a deep freezer full of undeveloped film from hundreds of contests that he attended. The list that he sent Jack is as reliable as much of what I've used for my database.

And the only other way to get pics at show is to pay the fee for the 'company photograher' to snap a few in a package, which was pricey. I paid it, but there were many who did not, or could not. So there's very few ways to keep the memories, if the chips are down.
Mind you, Rhino competed in a NABBA national level show, not some small time regional qualifier...so you'd think there was some photographs.
I can understand why someone wouldn't post pics of themselves here, because people just go to town with the ownings. Look what happened to 240 and Vince Goodrum! Can you blame anybody for not putting up pics of themselves? Maybe he doesn't want to post said pics because he wasn't happy with the way he looked...but winning the overall would mean you'd look MUCH better than many who post here, so go figure.
But if you're out to prove something, then do so properly. If there truly aren't any pics, Rhino, then it's best just to realize that since you can't prove it, most won't believe you. That's just the way it is. Most people really don't care, but it is entertaining listening to Chick and you go at it. That's what getbig is for....LAUGHS!!! ...at least, in the gossip and opinions section.
Anyway, if the PDI has a show, and you compete, then we'll see those pics no doubt. If not, getbig never forgets and it'll be a topic brought up every time you say something. If you really don't care, then I wouldn't post anything looking for apologies or that sort.

no, there is no such thing as a NABBA pro card. same with most orgs. you win their major contests and you get invited to compete in their pro event.
NABBA only has the Pro Universe. you win the amateur Universe and then you can compete in the Pro Universe. however, pros in other orgs, such as the IFBB have been allowed to compete in the Pro Universe.
nor has Jack ever claimed to be a pro in NABBA. PDI offered him a chance to compete in the NOC. doesn't really matter why, other than they think he would be competitive.

As far as I know he had to qualify to abe able to do this. I believe by winning an overall NABBA Nationals or possibly the North American as he states. Ok, enough of the hate. I have know Jack for over 20 years and he is a great guy, I also met Bob Chic at various pro shows and also at The Firehouse restaurant in CA. He is also a great guy...Jack did compete and won the show in Atlantic City on March 30, 1996. I know, because I also competed in the show. Jack helped me with some last minute prep stuff, I was getting flat and he suggested for me to eat some fat (actually he offered me some of his turkey burgers) I do have the pictures and a poster, have to dig it up. But, again, why does it matter? He earned the right to compete as a PDI Pro. And as for his last show the NPC Delaware, again which I was at (attending, helping some of my friends who were competing) this was Jack's first show since a 6-7 year layoff form competing...
Thought this board was to be informative...and most of the bashings are from guys who probably never competed or hardly ever train hard!

Actually it does matter. I am not taking sides, but if he did win and I do believe he did, then he atleast deserves credit for it! Like I said, you can't enter the Worlds without winning an overall national qualifier. Thanks for the post.

There is the video (link) that someone posted from the 1997 world championships that took place in Greece. Someone should order it - if Jack's mug is on that video from the NABBA World's, than the video of prescence at the World Championships should be considered said proof of the US National win.
While I like Chic and think for the most part he means well, the above can easily be verified if he or Jack bought the video and watched it. Frames from the video can be uploaded via you tube or daily sixxer and thus this silliness can be dropped and we can discuss more important things such as how hard does one need to concentrate while doing a concentration call or the art of wearing a fag bag while working out or does wearing a banadana while working you make aperson look any stronger and so on...

completely aside from my hatred for Chick, what do you guys think about a guy fathering a child after the age of 40, especially with a history of using anabolics and hormone altering drugs? Studies have proven that Fathers over 40 have a higher percentage of children with birth defects, chromosomal disorders, and schizophrenia. Google it up if you don't believe me but there is a definite amount of genetic degradation of sperm after the age of 35, that gets progressively worse. Not to mention the fact that when your kid is old enough to drink legally, the parent is already in their 60's. How fair is that to the kid?

I will take their word over yours. It is not healthy for a child to develop with elderly parents. Too large of a generational gap makes social and mental development awkward. It's like being raised by your grandparents. Not the worst thing that can happen, but not the greatest either.
Aside form that, there is also the possibility of birth defects and greater chance for other genetic issues. Medical statistic prove this.

So Chick admits Jack competed at the World Championships, but doesn't accept that this proves he won the North American, even though NABBA rules say to compete at the Worlds you have to win a national show.
As evidence to back up his position, Chick cites the fact that Gunter competed at the Olympia even though he wasn't qualified.

Two things, Chick:
1) Just because the IFBB choses to ignore its own qualification rules, that doesn't mean every other bb organization is as corrupt. The IFBB allowing Gunter to compete without qualifying proves nothing vis-a-vis NABBA.
2) You really need to go back to school and take a course in basic logic.

The ability to admit fault usually goes hand in hand with honestly, loyalty, integrity, and other qualities. In other words, if a guy won't admit it when he's made a mistake, he'll probably find a way to justify cheating, he'll probably make up small lies to cover his mistakes... basically, "character" usually means all or nothing.

Sorry to say, there is still no compelling evidence that Jack did win the 1996 NABBA North America Championships or that the contest even existed.
That being said, it's not as though Bob critically thought through the issue. The only reason why he doesn't believe the claim in all probability is because he is an IFBB stooge as you said BUT that doesn't make Bob less right.
Kind of like Christian fundamentalists. They may be brainwashed, but that doesn't mean their economic policies are wrong. No matter who is pressuring Bob to believe what he does, he is right and Jack is wrong here.

Most can be verified since it is IFBB / NPC, in the hundreds of mags from the past 20 or 30 years. The Musclemania results are another story.
I would like to see Bob produce the evidence that he is basing his claim on, and not just his word. Maybe he could produce the evidence for all the results - but this time it counts. Is it so hard for him to scan some info or something? If he doesn't have the time for it - well then, the burden is on Jack to produce something.

One of the most common emails I get at musclememory is "I/my father/uncle/etc was in the 19xx Mr ____. Do you know where I can find photos from that contest?"
I'm sure Jack has a photo from that contest somewhere in his closet, but how long would it take for you to find a photo from a specific day ten years ago?
But all of this is stupid, because no one is claiming that the NABBA North American was a major event. Jack was not among the best amatuer bodybuilders of the time. The big boys did not compete in NABBA events. But so what? PDI can give "pro cards" to who ever they want. So can the IFBB.
The IFBB is now giving pro cards to the winner of the Team Universe and the IFBB North Americans. Does anyone here believe that the competition in these events are in the same league as the NPC Nationals or the NPC USA? Michael Lockett won a pro card at this year's TU. Last year he couldn't even place in the top 15 in the Nationals.

I don't have the relationship with Bob that you do Tim, which is why my burden of proof may be slightly higher than yours. Although I do have a great deal of trust with, so trusting Bob by proxy is not impossible with me. You seem convinced so that goes a long way. However, listing contest results on an internet website is a ways away from posting it on a personal resume. I don't think it's a big deal if there is an error or two on your website - but I would expect that any personal resume would be devoid of such errors, and in this case, a little more than a letter would be nice. In any event, I suppose acceptable evidence has been presented here, but you can't deny it isn't that great. Passable, but if some doubt the evidence for one reason or another, I do find that acceptable.
It is sad how poor the mags are at covering shows. I've been digging through my hundreds of mags to get more info for the files I have (e.g., specific purses, event times, etc), and they are not listed very well even for events as big as the 2001 masters. FLEX did a lowly two page spread on it.

Different things are important to different people. I won a lot of sports trophys, etc when I was a kid and in high school, and I don't have the first clue where any of it is, or even if I still have any of it... I really couldn't care less. Most people who become successful in non-sports-related fields, especially at age 40, are unlikely to be able to put their hands on old sports trophies. It's only the losers who don't have anything else in their lives that cling to old plastic trophies.

If the prize money at last year's O was $500,000, the increase would have to be $21,500 just to keep up with inflation.

Nobody has questioned the integrity of NABBA shows. Tim has accepted that Jack London did indeed win the North Americans in 1996 because he trusts the source.
So, if we accept that Jack won the North Americans but NABBA do not consider it a "National" qualifying show, will you be voicing your concerns to the PDI because he does not meet their qualifying requirements?
Try to focus on the question without deflecting it with comments about the Olympia, AMI etc.

I am glad you agree Vince, I believed it the whole time personally. Also, I am not saying 240 is biased in anyway, I agree with everything he has said, 100%! But I respect the fact that long after Rhino did business with 240(website), its nice to see 240 taking so much time to prove what he knew to be true. Alot of people cash checks from their clients and don't give a rats ass what happens to them next, 240 seems like the type of guy who will not only make you a killer website, but also spend a lot of precious time to have his clients back. Especially when said client was telling the truth the whole time. Props to 240 for having his clients/friends back when he needed it. ;D

My conclusion is based on having trust and faith in Tim to report the right info and confirming it with Bob Gruskin. However, Chick and everyone else has every reason not to believe Rhino.
Like I said, this is going to continue on until Rhino shows some proper evidence and its going to hurt his creditibility.

And since you generally have to win a national competition in order to even enter an international competition, his 3rd place at the World Championship is pretty strong evidence in and of itself that his claim of winning the North Americans is valid.

I'm not abandoning any camp. To date there is no documentary evidence to prove or disprove that Jack won the show. At this time it is also unclear if the show was considered to be a "National" show at that time. If it was and Jack did win it then he would be elligible for PDI pro status. If it was not a "National" show in the eyes of NABBA USA, then things are different?
For your informaion the NA's still exist but they are not listed as a qualifier for the Worlds.

Ok, I've now had an e-mail from Mr Gruskin that confirms that the 1996 North Americans was NOT I repeat NOT a "National" title. He goes on to say that since 1996 if it is run by NABBA USA it can qualify competitors for the World Championships.
So the facts to date are:
Mr Gruskin states that Jack London won the North American title in 1996
Mr Gruskin states that that title was not a "National" one but could qualify someone for the Worls Championships.
Jack was given PDI Pro status based on his "National" win.
Jack London did not win a "National" title.

Nope, Gruskin referred to teh full winners list that year all the way down to honor roll. Jack was listed as the overall winner.

the studies have been done, by medical profesisonals. The results of these tests are available on the internet and in various medical journals. The numbers do not lie. I will take their word over yours. It is not healthy for a child to develop with elderly parents. Too large of a generational gap makes social and mental development awkward. It's like being raised by your grandparents. Not the worst thing that can happen, but not the greatest either.
Aside form that, there is also the possibility of birth defects and greater chance for other genetic issues. Medical statistic prove this.
