Milos has a point in his concerns of the lack of comparisons in various competitors. A bodybuilder that places 4th should be compared to a bodybuilder that places 6th, etc...
However, arguing with the judges or debating right in front of the audience instead of somewhere discreet was the problem.
There is always some problem...Put it in writting...or something like that...And than what?
Example of the Ironman this year is the freshest one and you are probably referring to this.
After Bob officially announced at athletes meeting last year that Mr. Jim Manion approved the motion started by the athletes that we request MORE COMPARISONS - and Ironman was the very first show of the year...and instead of MORE comparisons - it was LESS.
I saw Bob talking to the judges and I approached HIM and not the judges...to ask WHAT HAPPENED?
As conversation was going on - off course I get involved as well - not complaining about results but simply and only for the lack of comparisons...
It was equivalent to boxing match where one boxer swing-ed and missed and referee stop the fight suggesting that had that punch landed it would have devastated the other boxer...(well - that's my interpretation of what happened

).
First show of the year, new rules (1st round changed...) and supposed to be MORE COMPARISONS - possibly meant MORE EXCITMENT for everyone.
Keep in mind that some athletes (foreigners) that have to pay for all th etraveling expenses are very limited to number of shows they can enter...
They put their life savings to make the trip (as well as some of their fans, family...etc) just to see them standing in the lineup as a "stage decoration" without the chance to actually compete.
And WHY?
Don't we all want MORE COMPARISONS?
Athletes who are not afraid of comparisons, fans who wold love to see their favorites FIGHT for their placings, magazines, photographers, makers of the video footage...etc...etc..etc
...
There was MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME...and certainly there was unquestionably a need for several more comparisons.
Some people (don't need to mention at this time) concluded - that was the worst judging in history of our sport...and we all just need to be quiet?
We need to do it (complain) - differently?
It doesn't need to be a fight or the argument...it should be just a friendly conversation...If someone makes mistake and it was pointed out - mistake could be corrected...and I was hoping that at the Ironman - judges could still call the guys to come back on stage - and compare them some more...or even have additional evening comparisons...(and that is something I personally suggested to Mr. Manion - who certainly wasn't too happy hearing about my complaint...but he didn't hear it the real story...)
