I promised my grandson I'd take him to the gym for a workout tomorrow if he was all caught up on his studies. Looks like I am willing to try anything that gets me back in the swing of hitting the gym. I brought my wife home today for a couple of hours time she had between her doctor appointment and dialysis. She even had lunch with me while she was there. We are both hoping I can spring her from convalescent care by this next weekend.
Sounds awesome Prime..my Grandson will be 13 this year....soon!
2/4/201430 minutes of cardio on the recumbent bicycle30 minute circuit training on Nautilus machinesFull body work outI set of 12 reps on 12 machines (approximately two movements per muscle group)I kept the weight at baby weight, 60 to 80 lbs. on most exercises with the exception of leg presses and calf raises on which I used 220 lbs. I could have done more but I wanted to play it safe, this being my first foray into the gym in a long time aside from what I was doing for physical therapy for my knee those 10 weeks. While I am not the least bit sore, my body feels like it had some exercise and it feels good.My grandson ran on the treadmill and then joined me on the neighboring recumbent bicycle for awhile. He watched television while I did Nautilus. I offered to spot him if he wanted to use free weights, but he didn't seem interested. I'm not going to push him. He wants to go again tomorrow. His parents will be here then, so that will be up to them to decide. He's shooting hoops with his friends right now. I am soon off to pick up my wife from dialysis and take her back to the convalescent home. With all the driving, I have been filling the gas tank twice a week these past few weeks. The hospital bills have started rolling in. So far they total $75,000 and this doesn't include the last week and a half that Margie has been in the convalescent home. This is not what we will have to pay. Our copay has yet to be determined. Thank goodness for good health insurance.
Best laid plans.... I'd planned to go to the gym today but that didn't happen because at 12:30 p.m. the snow started falling and it has yet to let up. The street in front of our house is closed. I don't have 4 wheel drive or snow tires. This afternoon I watched a car slide into another car right in front of our house. Portlanders are cool with driving in the rain, not so much snow. Our daughter and her husband were on the last leg of their trip home when the snow hit them south of Salem. It took them 3 hours to drive 20 miles in blizzard conditions. They finally arrived early this evening. Their SUV is a 4 wheel drive and they have chains on so they made it down the hill to the house and up our driveway okay.I need to figure out what I am doing about getting my wife to dialysis tomorrow. I may have to hire medical transport to get her to the hospital. Also, she might be able to come home this weekend so let's hope the snow doesn't hang around too long.I am going to get another gym day in this week if it kills me. It felt so good to workout, I can't wait to do it again.
Jay get some home Training kit.
Great idea except with our daughter and her family moving back in, there is literally no place to set it up. Maybe it is just some frustration showing since the house went from being a quiet sanctuary to utter chaos last night when they finally arrived. Now there are our two dogs and their two dogs running around with lots of attitude. I haven't seen the Uhaul trailer they pulled to bring "just a few things" they thought they'd need until they get settled because it is parked up at the top of the hill. It must be pretty big though because they've made multiple trips unloading the contents into their SUV and into the house and garage. When I went out to the garage an hour ago, it was all but impassable. Sorry for unloading, I am one who doesn't do well with disruption I guess.Although it is snowing to beat the band today as well, this won't last long. By Sunday, the rain will come and wash the snow away so I can go to the gym and escape the chaos around here.
